since severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(sARs-CoV-2)emerged,we have followed this pandemic with great interest and concern from Europe(Navarra-spain)and the United states(Boston-Massachusetts).We were expecting children to present to emergency departments with the“classical COVID-19 symptoms-triad”such as fever,cough,and a range of respiratory distress[1]and we had learned from countries affected earlier by the virus,that it appeared to be less common and relatively mild in children[2,3].

Aim:surgical treatment of clinically negative neck in maxillary squamous cell carcinoma(sCC)of the upper jaw is *** purpose of this systematic review was to define the incidence of cervical metastasis and to assess if elective neck dissection is justified when the neck is not primarily ***:An electronic literature search was conducted in several databases,including MEDLINE,EMBAsE,and Cochrane Central databases,for articles written in ***:Twenty-eight articles were included in the *** overall cervical metastases rate was 33%and the total initial cervical metastases rate was 16%.Interestingly,the author found that 71%of patients with cervical metastases from maxillary sCC carcinoma were T3/T4 ***:This review shows the need for a change in the management of the N0 neck in sCC arising in the maxillary alveolus and hard *** neck dissection should be performed in patients with T3/T4 tumours with clinic or radiographic negative necks(N0c).

AIM To evaluate the efficacy of peripheral blood concentrations of angiopoietins(Ang) as cirrhosis biomarkers of chronic hepatitis C(CHC).METHODs Ang1 and Ang2 serum levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELIsA) in samples from 179 cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic CHC patients, classified according to the METAVIR *** were compared by non-parametric MannWhitney U test. subsequently, the association of peripheral concentrations of angiopoietins with the stage of fibrosis was analyzed using spearman correlation test. Finally, the accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of circulating angiopoietins for cirrhosis diagnosis were determined by the study of the respective area under the curve of receiver operator characteristics(AUC-ROC).REsULTs Peripheral blood concentrations of Ang1 and Ang2 in CHC patients were significantly related to fibrosis. While Ang1 was decreased in cirrhotic subjects compared to non-cirrhotic(P s significantly increased as CHC progressed to the end stage of liver disease(P sequently, Ang2/Ang1 ratio was notably amplified and significantly correlated with fibrosis(P stingly, the individual performance of each angiopoietin for the diagnosis of cirrhosis reached notable AUC-ROC values(above 0.7, both), but the Ang2/Ang1 ratio was much better(AUC-ROC = 0.810) and displayed outstanding values of sensitivity(71%), specificity(84%) and accuracy(82.1%) at the optimal cut-off(10.33). Furthermore, Ang2/Ang1 ratio improved the performance of many other previously described biomarkers or scores of liver cirrhosis in *** Ang2/Ang1 ratio might constitute a useful tool for monitoring the progression of chronic liver disease towards cirrhosis and play an important role as therapeutic target.

We have read with interest the paper published in issue 2, volume 16 of World Journal of Gastroenterology 2010 by Nakamura et al, demonstrating that the antioxidant resveratrol (RVT) enhances hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication, consequently, they conclude that RVT is not a suitable antioxidant therapy for HCV chronic infection. The data raise some concern regarding the use of complementary and alternative medicine since the most frequent supplements taken by these patients are antioxidants or agents that may be beneficial for different chronic liver diseases. A recent study by Vidali et al on oxidative stress and steatosis in the progression of chronic hepatitis C concludes that oxidative stress and insulin resistance contribute to steatosis, thus accelerating the progression of fibrosis. We are particularly interested in investigating how the oxidative and nitrosative stress mechanisms are involved in the pathogenesis of different chronic liver diseases.

Hox and ParaHox genes constitute two families of developmental regulators that pattern the Anterior-Posterior body axis in all bilaterians. The members of these two groups of genes are usually arranged in genomic clusters and work in a coordinated fashion, both in space and in time. While the mechanistic aspects of their action are relatively well known, it is still unclear how these systems evolved. For instance, we still need a proper model of how the Hox and ParaHox clusters were assembled over time. This problem is due to the shortage of information on gene complements for many taxa （mainly basal metazoans） and the lack of a consensus phylogenetic model of animal relationships to which we can relate our new findings. Recently, several studies have shown that the Acoelomorpha most probably represent the first offshoot of the Bilateria. This finding has prompted us, and others, to study the Hox and ParaHox complements in these animals, as well as their activity during development. In this review, we analyze how the current knowledge of Hox and ParaHox genes in the Acoelomorpha is shaping our view of bilaterian evolution.
