We present a detailed pollen record and interpretations of late Pleistocene climatic change at the Chongphadae Cave Site, Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The mean annual paleotemperature and mean annual paleoprecipitation of the site were calculated using the temperature index and precipitation index based on ecological features and geographical distribution of each taxon. Temperature index and precipitation index range from 8.8℃ to 10.4℃ and from 805.0 mm to 963.1 mm, respectively. Four dates(radiocarbon, uranium series, fission track, and paleomagnetic excursion dating) of the deposit profile investigated yield a range of ~21.3 ka BP to ~117 ka BP, geochronologically corresponding to the late Pleistocene, and extend from the last interglacial highstand through the Last Glacial Maximum. Our results are thus consistent with the climatic shift from interglacial to glacial conditions, provide evidence that the environments of the region, which was reconstructed from the paleoclimatic index, changed from a mild and humid to a cool and dry climate during the late Pleistocene, and suggest trends similar to those of several parts of the Northern Hemisphere which lie in the same latitudinal zone as our study area.

As an emerging zero-dimensional nano crystalline porous material,porous organic cages(POCs)with soluble properties in organic solvents,are promising candidates as molecular fillers in mixed matrix membranes(MMMs).The pore structure of POCs should be adjusted to trigger efficient gas separation performance,and the interaction between filler and matrix should be *** this work,ionic liquid(il)was introduced into the molecular fillers of CC3,to construct the il@CC3/PIM-1 membrane to effectively separate CO_(2) from CH_(4).The advantages of doping il include:(1)narrowing the cavity size of POCs from 4.4 to 3.9Åto enhance the diffusion selectivity,(2)strengthening the CO_(2) solubility to heighten the gas permeability,and(3)improving the compatibility between filler and matrix to upgrade membrane *** the optimization of the membrane composite,the il@CC3/PIM-1-10%membrane possesses the CO_(2) permeability of 7868 Barrer and the CO_(2)/CH_(4) selectivity of 73.4,which compared to the CC3/PIM-1-10%membrane,improved by 15.9%and 106.2%,***,the membrane has maintained a stable separation performance at varied temperatures and pressures during the long-term *** proposed method offers an efficient way to improve the performance of POCs-based MMMs in gas separation.

BACKGROUND There is still no consensus on which concentration of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)to use for promoting fracture healing in a rat model of long bone *** To assess the optimal concentration of MSCs for promoting fracture healing in a rat *** Wistar rats were divided into four groups according to MSC concentrations:Normal saline(C),2.5×10^(6)(L),5.0×10^(6)(M),and 10.0×10^(6)(H)*** MSCs were injected directly into the fracture *** rats were sacrificed at 2 and 6 wk *** bone formation[bone volume(BV)and percentage BV(PBV)]was evaluated using micro-computed tomography(CT).Histological analysis was performed to evaluate fracture healing *** protein expression of factors related to MSC migration[stromal cell-derived factor 1(SDF-1),transforming growth factor-beta 1(TGF-β1)]and angiogenesis[vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)]was evaluated using western blot *** expression of cytokines associated with osteogenesis[bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2),TGF-β1 and VEGF]was evaluated using real-time polymerase chain *** Micro-CT showed that BV and PBV was significantly increased in groups M and H compared to that in group C at 6 wk post-fracture(P=0.040,P=0.009;P=0.004,P=0.001,respectively).Significantly more cartilaginous tissue and immature bone were formed in groups M and H than in group C at 2 and 6 wk post-fracture(P=0.018,P=0.010;P=0.032,P=0.050,respectively).At 2 wk post fracture,SDF-1,TGF-β1 and VEGF expression were significantly higher in groups M and H than in group L(P=0.031,P=0.014;P<0.001,P<0.001;P=0.025,P<0.001,respectively).BMP-2 and VEGF expression were significantly higher in groups M and H than in group C at 6 wk postfracture(P=0.037,P=0.038;P=0.021,P=0.010).Compared to group L,TGF-β1 expression was significantly higher in groups H(P=0.016).There were no significant differences in expression levels of chemokines related to MSC migration,angiogenesis and cytokines associated
