Magnesium alloys are emerging as promising alternatives to traditional orthopedic implant materials thanks to their biodegradability,biocompatibility,and impressive mechanical ***,their rapid in-vivo degradation presents challenges,notably in upholding mechanical integrity over *** study investigates the impact of high-temperature thermal processing on the mechanical and degradation attributes of a lean Mg-Zn-Ca-Mn alloy,*** rapid,cost-efficient characterization methods like X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy,we swiftly examine microstructural changes post-thermal *** Pearson correlation coefficient analysis,we unveil the relationship between microstructural properties and critical targets(properties):hardness and corrosion ***,leveraging the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO),we pinpoint the dominant microstructural factors among closely correlated *** findings underscore the significant role of grain size refinement in strengthening and the predominance of the ternary Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3)phase in corrosion *** suggests that achieving an optimal blend of strength and corrosion resistance is attainable through fine grains and reduced concentration of ternary *** thorough investigation furnishes valuable insights into the intricate interplay of processing,structure,and properties in magnesium alloys,thereby advancing the development of superior biodegradable implant materials.

Cardiac extracellular matrices(ECM)play crucial functional roles in cardiac *** studies have mainly focused on collagen,the major structural ECM in heart *** role of elastin in cardiac mechanics,however,is poorly *** this study,we investigated the spatial distribution and microstructural morphologies of cardiac elastin in porcine left *** demonstrated that the epicardial elastin network had location-and depth-dependency,and the overall epicardial elastin fiber mapping showed certain correlation with the helical heart muscle fiber *** compared to the epicardial layer,the endocardial layer was thicker and has a higher elastin-collagen ratio and a denser elastin fiber network;moreover,the endocardial elastin fibers were finer and more wavy than the epicardial elastin fibers,all suggesting various interface *** myocardial interstitial elastin fibers co-exist with the perimysial collagen to bind the cardiomyocyte bundles;some of the interstitial elastin fibers showed a locally aligned,hinge-like structure to connect the adjacent cardiomyocyte *** collagen-elastin combination reflects an optimal design in which the collagen provides mechanical strength and elastin fibers facilitate recoiling during ***,cardiac elastin fibers,along with collagen network,closely associated with the Purkinje cells,indicating that this ECM association could be essential in organizing cardiac Purkinje cells into“fibrous”and“branching”morphologies and serving as a protective feature when Purkinje fibers experience large deformations in *** short,our observations provide a structural basis for future in-depth biomechanical investigations and biomimicking of this long-overlooked cardiac ECM component.

BACKGROUND Music seems to be beneficial in multiple clinical *** is a stressful event for patients,especially with conscious *** during colonoscopy has been evaluated in multiple randomized controlled trials(RCTs)with varied *** meta-analyses on the subject over the years have yielded inconsistent ***,we conducted an up-to-date meta-analysis regarding music during *** To assess the effects of music played during colonoscopy on patients’perspectives and sedation *** Multiple large databases were aggressively searched(November 2018).RCTs comparing music to without music during colonoscopy on adult patients were *** estimates were calculated for sedative medication doses,total procedure time,and patients’experience,willingness to repeat procedure,and pain scores using odds ratio(OR)and mean difference(MD)with random effects *** Eleven studies(n=988)were *** during colonoscopy showed a statistically significant reduction in procedure times(MD:-2.3 min;95%CI:-4.13 to-0.47;P=0.01)and patients’pain(MD:-1.26;95%CI:-2.28 to-0.24;P=0.02)while improving patients’experience(MD:-1.11;95%CI:-1.7 to-0.53;P<0.01)as compared to no *** statistically significant differences were observed between music and no music during colonoscopy for midazolam(MD:-0.4 mg;95%CI:-0.9 to 0.09;P=0.11),meperidine(MD:-3.06 mg;95%CI:-10.79 to 4.67;P=0.44),or patients’willingness to repeat the colonoscopy(OR:3.89;95%CI:0.76 to 19.97;P=0.1).CONCLUSION Music appears to improve overall patient experience while reducing procedure times and patient ***,music,being a non-invasive intervention,should be strongly considered during colonoscopy.
