While a large number of studies have described animal social network., we have a poor understanding of how these network. vary with ecological and social conditions. For example, reproductive periods are an important life-history stage that may involve changes in dominance relationships among individuals, yet no study to date has compared social network. of do- minance interactions （i.e. dominance network.） across reproductive contexts. We first analyzed a long-term dataset on captive so- cial groups of the cooperatively breeding cichlid Neolamprologuspulcher, and found that eviction events were significantly more common around reproduction than expected by chance. Next, we compared the structure of dominance network. during early pa- rental care and non-reproductive periods, using one of the first applications of exponential random graph models in behavioral biology. Contrary to our predictions, we found that dominance network. showed few changes between early parental care and non-reproductive periods. We found no evidence that dominance interactions became more sk.wed towards larger individuals, became more frequent between similar-sized individuals, or became more biased towards a particular sex during parental care. However, we did find that there were relatively more dominance interactions between opposite-sex dyads in the early parental care period, which may be a by-product of increased sexual interactions during this time. This is the first study in behavioral ecology to compare social network. using exponential random graph modeling, and demonstrates a powerful analytical framework.for future studies in the field [Current Zoology 61 （1）： 45-54, 2015].

Studying the complex quantum dynamics of interacting many-body systems is one of the most challenging areas in modern physics. Here, we use machine learning (ML) models to identify the symmetrized base states of interacting Rydberg atoms of various atom numbers (up to six) and geometric configurations. To obtain the data set for training the ML classifiers, we generate Rydberg excitation probability profiles that simulate experimental data by utilizing Lindblad equations that incorporate laser intensities and phase noise. Then, we classify the data sets using support vector machines (SVMs) and random forest classifiers (RFCs). With these ML models, we achieve high accuracy of up to 100% for data sets containing only a few hundred samples, especially for the closed atom configurations such as the pentagonal (five atoms) and hexagonal (six atoms) systems. The results demonstrate that computationally cost-effective ML models can be used in the identification of Rydberg atom configurations.

Using a phylogenomic approach, we have identified and subciassified a new family of carotenoid-binding proteins. These proteins have sequence homology to the N-terminal domain （NTD） of the Orange Carotenoid Protein （OCP）, and are referred to as Helical Carotenoid Proteins （HCPs）. These proteins comprise at least nine distinct ciades and are found in diverse organisms, frequently as multiple paralogs representing the distinct ciades. These seem to be out-paralogs maintained from ancient duplications associated with subfunctionalization. All of the HCPs share conservation of the residues for carotenoid binding, and we confirm that carotenoid binding is a fundamental property of HCPso We solved two crystal structures of the Nostoc sp. PCC 7120 HCP1 protein, each binding a different carotenoid, suggesting that the proteins flexibly bind a range of carotenoids. Based on a comprehensive phylogenetic analysis, we propose that one of the HCP subtypes is lik.ly the evolutionary ancestor of the NTD of the OCP, which arose following a domain fusion evenS. However, we predict that the majority of HCPs have functions distinct from the NTD of the OCP. Our results demonstrate that the HCPs are a new family of functionally diverse carotenoid-binding proteins found among ecophysiologically diverse cyanobacteria.

Hereditary diffuse gastric cancer(HDGC) is an inherited autosomal dominant syndrome with a penetrance of up to 80% affecting diverse geographic populations. While it has been shown to be caused mainly by germline alterations in the E-cadherin gene(CDH1), problematically, the genetic diagnosis remains unk.own in up to 60% of patients. Given the important k.owledge gaps regarding the syndrome, asymptomatic carriers of CDH1 mutations are advised for a prophylactic total gastrectomy. Intensive annual endoscopic surveillance is the alternative for carriers who decline gastrectomy. As HDGCs have a prolonged indolent phase, this provides a window of opportunity for surveillance and treatment. Recent findings of other gene defects in CTNNA1 and MAP3k., as well as further characterization of CDH1 mutations and their pathogenicity will change the way HDGC patients are counselled for screening, surveillance and treatment. This review will bring the reader up to date with these changes and discuss future directions for research; namely more accurate risk.stratification and surveillance methods to improve clinical care of HDGC patients.

Back.round:Discordance in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)staging between pre-transplant imaging and explant pathology is associated with an increased risk.of recurrence and *** aim was to evaluate variables that predicted concordance/discordance in the era of new generation locoregional therapies(LRT)and improved radiologic technology in ***:A single-center retrospective study was performed on patients who received a liver transplant for HCC between ***-and post-LT variables,including type of LRT,downstaging(DS),transplant time period,and radiologic response to LRT,were analyzed for concordance/***-Meier analysis was used to assess post-LT ***:Of 146 patients transplanted within Milan Criteria(MC),discordance rates(understaged)were 45%.Discordance was associated with≥3 HCC lesions at diagnosis but not newer generation LRT(transarterial radioembolization/stereotactic body radiation therapy),traditional LRT or *** differences in discordance were seen between transplant periods(2008-2013 vs.2014-2019),but those within MC in the earlier period had higher concordance rates.A trend was observed between DS and ***:HCC stage discordance remains common and poorly *** was associated with three or more HCC lesions at the time of *** within MC transplanted between 2008-2013 was associated with concordance,while a trend was noted between DS and *** other pre-or post-LT variables predicted discordance/*** was associated with decreased survival.

BACk.ROUND Novel oral anticoagulants(NOACs)were developed as alternatives to vitamin k.antagonists,primarily warfarin,as they do not require routine monitoring and have limited drug-drug and drug-food ***,the efficacy and safety of these agents in k.dney transplantation are not well *** To assess the profile and safety of NOACs for patients who had k.dney transplantation,and to provide recommendations and guidelines on therapeutic strategies in these *** This was a retrospective study carried out among adult patients who were actively on the following NOACs(apixaban,rivaroxaban or dabigatran)in our renal transplantation program from December 2015 to December *** patients were identified primarily through electronic medical record system(patient data link.ge).Data on the clinical and laboratory profile of the patients were retrieved and analyzed with SPSS *** Complete data on 42 renal transplant patients were retrieved:59.5%males,90.5%were whites and 66.7%were older than 60 years *** mean duration since renal transplantation of the patients was 8.8±7.4 *** most common risk.factors for the development of end-stage renal disease in the subjects were hypertension(19.0%),polycystic k.dney disease(19.0%),followed by diabetic nephropathy(16.7%)and chronic glomerulonephritis(16.7%).The main indications for NOACs use in the cohort were atrial fibrillation in 25 patients(59.5%)and venous thromboembolism in 10 patients(23.8%).Overall,29 patients(69%)were treated with apixaban,10 patients(23.8%)with rivaroxaban and 3 patients(7.14%)with ***(0%)thromboembolic events were observed during the one-year period,but 3(7.1%)bleeding events occurred in the cohort consisting of 1 patient treated with rivaroxaban 15 mg daily and 2 patients who received apixaban 2.5 mg twice *** were no significant changes in serum tacrolimus level three days after the initiation of NOACs among patients treated with tacrolimus(
