Continuous revision of the histologic and stage-wise classification of lung cancer by the World Health Organization (WHO) provides the foundation for therapeutic advances by promoting molecular targeted and immunotherapies and ensuring accurate diagnosis. Cancer epidemiologic data provide helpful information for cancer prevention, diagnosis, and management, supporting health-care interventions. Global cancer mortality projections from 2016 to 2060 show that cancer will overtake ischemic heart diseases (IHD) as the leading cause of death (18.9 million) immediately after 2030, surpassing non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which accounts for 85 percent of lung cancers. The clinical stage at the diagnosis is the main prognostic factor in NSCLC therapies. Advanced early diagnostic methods are essential as the initial stages of cancer show reduced mortality compared to the advanced stages. Sophisticated approaches to proper histological classification and NSCLC management have improved clinical efficiency. Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and targeted molecular therapies have refined the therapeutic management of late-stage NSCLC, the specificity and sensitivity of cancer biomarkers should be improved by focusing on prospective studies, followed by their use as therapeutic tools. The liquid biopsy candidates such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs), circulating cell-free tumor DNA (cfDNA), tumor educated platelets (TEP), and extracellular vesicles (EVs) possess cancer-derived biomolecules and aid in tracing: driver mutations leading to cancer, acquired resistance caused by various generations of therapeutic agents, refractory disease, prognosis, and surveillance.

The thermal degradation of some sulfonic cationites namely Amberlite IR-120, Indion-223 and In-dion-225 was investigated using instrumental techniques like thermal analysis (TG) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to characterize the resins degradation steps. The sulfonic cationites undergo degradation through dehydration, followed by decomposition of sulfonic acid functional groups liberating SO2. The thermogravimetric analysis of above cationites at higher temperature up to 520oC, show mass loss of 61.61% and 25.43% respectively for Indion-223 and Indion-225, while Amberlite IR-120 cationite get burned off completely.

The Feto-Maternal Outcome in Instrumental Assisted Vaginal Delivery in Parapokar Maternity and Woman Hospital—A Retrospective Study

Aim: To determine maternal and neonatal morbidities associated with instrumental vaginal delivery. Methods: This retrospective study consisted of 233 women undergoing instrumental vaginal deliveries from April 2020 to March 2021 at Paropakar Maternity and Women Hospital, a tertiary care hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. Neonatal and maternal complications were analyzed. Results: Of 233 women, 102 (43.7%) and 131 (56.2%) had vacuum and forceps deliveries, respectively. The use of instruments was more frequent in infants with higher birth weight and gestational age. There were no significant differences in Apgar scores between the two groups. Two main indications of instrumental deliveries were fetal distress and prolonged second stage labor. Forceps, compared with vacuum, more often caused 3rd/4th perineal tears, tear extending to fornices, and postpartum hemorrhage. Neonatal outcomes were similar in both types of instrumental deliveries. Conclusion: Instrumental vaginal delivery caused maternal morbidity and procedure/judgment training for it is essential.

A brain tumor is a lethal neurological disease that affects the average performance of the brain and can be *** India,around 15 million cases are diagnosed *** mitigate the seriousness of the tumor it is essential to diagnose at the ***,the manual evaluation process utilizing Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)causes a few worries,remarkably inefficient and inaccurate brain tumor ***,the examination process of brain tumors is intricate as they display high unbalance in nature like shape,size,appearance,and ***,a precise and expeditious prognosis of brain tumors is essential for implementing the of an implicit *** computer models adapted to diagnose the tumor,but the accuracy of the model needs to be *** all the above mentioned things,this work aims to identify the best classification system by considering the prediction accuracy out of Alex-Net,ResNet 50,and Inception *** augmentation is performed on the database and fed into the three convolutions neural network(CNN)models.A comparison line is drawn between the three models based on accuracy and *** accuracy of 96.2%is obtained for AlexNet with augmentation and performed better than ResNet 50 and Inception V3 for the 120th *** the suggested model with higher accuracy,it is highly reliable if brain tumors are diagnosed with available datasets.

Prevalence of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria on Tomato Surfaces and Effectiveness of Disinfectants in Reducing the Microbial Load

This study was conducted to isolate and identify antibiotic resistant bacteria in fresh tomato sold in three different local markets of Dhaka city. On an average 〉 5.0 log CFU/g of natural microbial populations and coliform bacteria was present in the samples. Prevalence of Salmonella spp., E. coli, Listeria spp., and Yersinia spp., were recorded through cultivation dependent assay of tomato samples of different markets. Almost all of the isolates were uniformly resistant to rifampicin, erythromycin, clindamycin and oxacillin （100%）, vancomycin （93%）, amoxicillin （87%）, whereas 60% of the isolates were found to be resistant to ampicillin and cephalexin. Antibiotic sensitivity test of the presumptive E. coli and Salmonella spp. and corresponding plasmid profiling indicated a correlation of plasmid mediated multidrug resistance （MDR） of these environmental bacteria. Washing with sanitizing agents such as acidified sodium chlorite （ASC） and 200 ppm chlorinated water was able to reduce _〈 2.0 log CFU/g of natural microflora and coliform bacteria. In contrast, ASC was able to reduce 〈 2.0 log CFU/g of other food borne pathogens and, chlorinated water was able to reduce up to undetectable level. Therefore, washing of tomato with 200 ppm chlorinated water could be useful in reducing the pathogen populations on tomatoes.

Vitamin D is important in multiple aspects of health and its effects are mediated through the Vitamin D Receptor (VDR). We wanted to test the hypothesis that specific haplotypes of the VDR gene are associated with markers of disease severity, inflammation and bone health in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Genotyping was performed on DNA specimens from 1141 study participants in the NIH-funded Silent Infarct Transfusion (SIT) trial. We used the clinical and laboratory data to create separate endothelial dysfunction, vaso-occlusive severity scores and phenotype variables. Seventy-nine Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNP) in the VDR gene and three associated genes—CYP27B1, VD binding protein, retinoid X receptor, were evaluated. The discovery cohort individuals had VDR haplotype information from a prior Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS). The validation cohort was analyzed for SNPs that were significant in the discovery cohort. The pheno-type data were obtained from the demographic and clinical information of the participants, and were used to create the severity scores, vaso-occlusive score, endothelial dysfunction severity, and overall severity score. Potential gene-gene interactions were analyzed for prediction of disease severity within each severity score. Two SNPs were associated with the overall severity score, 3 SNPs with the endothelial dysfunction severity score and 4 SNPs with the vaso-occlusive severity score. After permutation testing to correct for multiple comparisons, only one of the associations remained significant. SNP rs7965281 was found to be associated with the endothelial dysfunction severity score and remained significant after correcting for multiple comparisons using permutation testing. In the validation cohort, that SNP was again tested for association with each of the severity scores. There was no association with the endothelial or the overall severity score but a trend towards association with the vaso-occlusive severity score (p = 0.02). N
