Topologically protecting squeezed light on a photonic chip

Squeezed light is a critical resource in quantum sensing and information processing. Due to the inherently weak optical nonlinearity and limited interaction volume, considerable pump power is typically needed to obtain efficient interactions to generate squeezed light in bulk crystals. Integrated photonics offers an elegant way to increase the nonlinearity by confining light strictly inside the waveguide. For the construction of large-scale quantum systems performing many-photon operations, it is essential to integrate various functional modules on a chip. However, fabrication imperfections and transmission cross talk may add unwanted diffraction and coupling to other photonic elements, reducing the quality of squeezing. Here, by introducing the topological phase, we experimentally demonstrate the topologically protected nonlinear process of four-wave mixing, enabling the generation of squeezed light on a silica chip. We measure the cross-correlations at different evolution distances for various topological sites and verify the nonclassical features with high fidelity. The squeezing parameters are measured to certify the protection of cavity-free, strongly squeezed states. The demonstration of topological protection for squeezed light on a chip brings new opportunities for quantum integrated photonics,opening novel approaches for the design of advanced multi-photon circuits.

Quantum entanglement,as the strictly non-classical phenomenon,is the kernel of quantum computing and quantum simulation,and has been widely applied ranging from fundamental tests of quantum physics to quantum information ***,the topolog-ical phase is found inherently capable of protecting physical fields from unavoidable fabrication-induced disorder,which inspires the po-tential application of topological protection to quantum ***,we present the experimental demonstration of topologically protected quantum entangled states on a photonic *** process tomogra-phy shows that quantum entanglement can be well preserved by the topological states even when the chip material introduces disorder and relative polarization rotation in phase *** work links the fields of materials,topological science and quantum physics,opening the door to wide applications of topological enhancement in quantum regime.

Double active sites promoting hydrogen evolution activity and stability of CoruoH/Co_(2)P by rapid hydrolysis

Cobalt-based phosphides show excellent hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)performance,however,improving the intrinsic activity and stability of it in alkaline electrolyte still remains a ***,CoruoH/Co_(2)P/CF with heterojunction structure was developed by means of molten salt and rapid hydrolysis(30 s).The OH-from rapid surface hydrolysis of Co_(2)P as a hydrogen adsorption site can facilitate the formation of thin CoruoH layer as a water dissociation site,which may bring out better synergistic effect for alkaline ***,the covering of CoruoH can improve the stability of Co_(2)P for *** drives at 100 mA/cm^(2),it only requires overpotential of 81 mV in 1.0 mol/L KOH(25℃).Even at higher current density(1000 mA/cm^(2)),CoruoH/Co_(2)P/CF can also operate stability for at least 100 *** coupling with NiFe-LDH/IF in a two-electrode system,the voltage of NiFe-LDH/IF(+)||CoruoH/Co_(2)P/CF(-)at 1000 mA/cm^(2)is merely 1.77 V with 100 h,demonstrating great potential for water *** implementation of this work provides a new strategy and reference for the further improvement of transition metal phosphides as HER electrocatalysts.

Study on the mechanism and reaction characteristics of metal-supported phosphogypsum as oxygen carrier in a chemical looping gasification application

This study aimed to explore the chemical looping gasification(CLG)reaction characteristics of the metal-supported composite phosphogypsum(PG)oxygen carriers(OCs)and the thermodynamic *** FactSage 7.1 thermodynamic simulation was used to explore the oxygen release and H_(2)S removal *** experimental results showed that the syngas yield of CLG with PG-CuFe_(2)O_(4)was more than that with PG-Fe_(2)O_(3)20/CuO40 or PG-Fe_(2)O_(3)30/CuO30 OC at 1023 K when the water vapor content was ***,the maximum syngas yield of the CO selectivity was 70.3% and of the CO_(2)selectivity was 23.8%.The H_(2)/CO value was 0.78,and the highest carbon conversion efficiency was 91.9% in PG-CuFe_(2)O_(4)at the gasification temperature of 1073 *** metal-supported PG composite oxygen carrier was proved not only as an oxygen carrier to participate in the preparation of syngas but also as a catalyst to catalyze coal gasification ***,both the experimental results and FactSage 7.1 thermodynamic analysis revealed that the trapping mechanism of H_(2)S by composite OCs was as follows:CuO first lost lattice oxygen as an oxygen carrier to generate Cu_(2)O,which,in turn,reacted with H_(2)S to generate Cu_(2)*** study provided efficient guidance and reference for OC design in CLG.

Dynamic localization,which originates from the phenomena of particle evolution suppression under an externally applied AC electric field,has been simulated by suppressed light evolution in periodically curved photonic ***,experimental studies on their quantitative dynamic transport properties and application for quantum information processing are *** we fabricate one-dimensional and hexagonal two-dimensional arrays both with sinusoidal *** successfully observe the suppressed single-photon evolution patterns,and for the first time,to the best of our knowledge,measure the variances to study their transport *** onedimensional arrays,the measured variances match both the analytical electric-field calculation and the quantum walk Hamiltonian engineering *** hexagonal arrays as anisotropic effective couplings in four directions are mutually dependent,the analytical approach suffers,whereas quantum walk conveniently incorporates all anisotropic coupling coefficients in the Hamiltonian and solves its exponential as a whole,yielding consistent variances with our experimental ***,we implement a nearly complete localization to show that it can preserve both the initial injection and the wave packet after some evolution,acting as a memory of a flexible time scale in integrated *** demonstrate a useful quantum simulation of dynamic localization for studying their anisotropic transport properties and a promising application of dynamic localization as a building block for quantum information processing in integrated photonics.

Aerial refueling scheduling of multi-receiver and multi-tanker under spatial-temporal constraints for forest firefighting

Forest fires pose a significant threat to human life and property,so the utilization of unmanned aircraft systems provides new ways for forest *** the constrained load capacities of these aircraft,aerial refueling becomes crucial to extend their operational time and *** order to address the complexities of firefighting missions involving multi-receiver and multi-tanker deployed from various airports,first,a fuel consumption calculation model for aerial refueling scheduling is established based on the receiver ***,two distinct methods,including an integrated one and a decomposed one,are designed to address the challenges of establishing refueling airspace and allocating tasks for *** methods aim to optimize total fuel consumption of the receivers and tankers within the aerial refueling scheduling *** optimization problem is established as nonlinear optimization models along with *** integrated method seamlessly combines refueling rendezvous point scheduling and tanker task allocation into unified *** has a complete solution space and excels in optimizing total fuel *** decomposed method,through the separation of rendezvous point scheduling and task allocation,achieves a reduced computational ***,this comes at the cost of sacrificing optimality by excluding specific feasible ***,numerical simulations are carried out to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed *** simulations yield insights crucial for the practical engineering application of both the integrated and decomposed methods in real-world *** comprehensive approach aims to enhance the efficiency of forest firefighting operations,mitigating the risks posed by forest fires to human life and property.

A highly sensitive fluorescent HClO probe for discrimination between cancerous and normal cells/tissues

Elevated level of hypochlorous acid(HClO)is closely associated with cancer *** HClO level in cancer cells would provide important evidence in either early-stage cancer diagnostics or monitoring of its treatment *** this work,a new pyronine-based fluorescent probe for rapid and sensitive detection of HClO was developed by condensing meso-formyl pyronine(PyCHO)with 2-hydrazinopyridine to form meso-pyridylhydrazone-functionalized pyronine PyHP,PyHP is nonfluorescent due to the excited-state C=N isomerization nonradiative decay,whereas the HClO-triggered formation of meso-triazolopyridyl pyronine PyTP abolishes the C=N isomerization and thus greatly enhances the *** the probe,the cancer cells/tumor were distinguished with high-contrast from normal ones by laser confocal fluorescence imaging,and the tumor-to-normal(T/N)ratios obtained exceed the clinically acceptable threshold of ***,its capability of in vivo imaging tumor was also *** results indicate the potential of PyHP as an effective tool in the early clinical diagnosis of cancers.

Evolution of inclusions in vacuum induction melting of superalloys containing 70%return material

The variation law of inclusions type and size in the vacuum induction melting process and ingot of Ni-based superalloy containing 70%return material was studied by industrial test sampling,and the mechanism of inclusions formation was analyzed with thermodynamic *** results show that there are mainly two types of composite inclusions in the vacuum induction melting of Ni-based superalloys,which are nitride-and oxide-based composite inclusions,like Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)-Cr_(2)O_(3),TiN-(Mo,Nb)C,*** type and proportion of inclusions from the center to the edge of the vacuum induction ingot did not change *** number density of inclusions from the center to the edge of the ingot varied less,and the size of inclusions became smaller from the center to the *** addition,thermodynamic calculations show that oxides(M_(2)O_(3))are present in the liquid phase and mainly contain Al,Ti,Cr,Fe and O *** nitride consists mainly of Ti and N and contains small amounts of Cr,C,Nb,and Mo *** is consistent with the results of industrial *** the temperature decreases,the precipitation phases such as M_(2)O_(3),MN,γ,MC,δ,γ'andμphases are gradually precipitated,where oxides and nitrides are present in the liquid *** contents of O and N elements are the main influencing factors for the inclusions content and precipitation temperature;when the nitrogen content is reduced to below 0.0015%,it can make MN precipitate below the liquid-phase line.
