Effectiveness of Acupoint Application in Patients with Pharyngeal Pain: Evidence from CHUNBO, A Prospective Real-World Study

Objective: To assess the outcomes after acupoint application in patients with pharyngeal pain in a real-world settings, and analyze the characteristics of effective population and prescription characteristics of acupoint application. Methods: Based on CHUNBO platform, patients with pharyngeal pain who were candidates for acupoint application on the basis of physician-evaluation, were enrolled in a nationwide, prospective, 69-week multicenter observational study from August 2020 to February 2022. Propensity score matching(PSM) was used to match the confounding factors and the association rules were used to analyze the characteristics of effective population and prescription characteristics of acupoint application. Outcome assessments included the disappearance rate of pharyngeal pain(within 3, 7, and 14 days), disappearance time of pharyngeal pain, as well as adverse events. Results: Of 7,699 enrolled participants, 6,693(86.9%) received acupoint application and 1,450(21.7%) with non-acupoint application. After PSM, there were 1,004 patients each in the application group(AG) and non-application group(NAG). The disappearance rate of pharyngeal pain in the AG at 3, 7, and 14 days were all higher than those in the NAG(Psulfas, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, and Herba Ephedrae. Among them, Natrii sulfas was applied to RN 8 most frequently(support 84.39%). Design and pricing of maintenance service contract based on Nash non-cooperative game approach

Nowadays manufacturers are facing fierce challenge.Apart from the products,providing customers with multiple maintenance options in the service contract becomes more popular,since it can help to improve customer satisfaction,and ultimately promote sales and maximize profit for the manufacturer.By considering the combinations of corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance,totally three types of maintenance service contracts are designed.Moreover,attractive incentive and penalty mechanisms are adopted in the contracts.On this basis,Nash non-cooperative game is applied to analyze the revenue for both the manufacturer and customers,and so as to optimize the pricing mechanism of maintenance service contract and achieve a win-win situation.Numerical experiments are conducted.The results show that by taking into account the incentive and penalty mechanisms,the revenue can be improved for both the customers and manufacturer.Moreover,with the increase of repair rate and improvement factor in the preventive maintenance,the revenue will increase gradually for both the parties.

Modified constitutive models for Inconel 718 considering current density and temperature in electrically assisted forming process

Electrically Assisted Forming(EAF)technology has obvious advantages in material forming.To develop an effective constitutive model considering electrical effects,room temperature and electrically assisted quasi-static uniaxial tensile tests were conducted using ultrathin nickelbased superalloy plates with a thickness of 0.25 mm.The research focused on the two most widely recognized effects:the Joule thermal and the electric athermal effects.The mechanism of current action can be divided into two scenarios:one considering the Joule thermal effect only,and the other considering both effects simultaneously.Two basic constitutive models,namely the Modified-Hollomon model and the Johnson-Cook(J-C)model,were selected to be optimized through the classification of two different situations,and four optimized constitutive models were proposed.It was found that the J-C model with simultaneous consideration of the Joule thermal effect and electric athermal effect had the best prediction effect by comparing the results of these four models.Finally,the accuracy of the optimization model was verified by finite element simulation of the electrically assisted stretching optimization model.The results show that the constitutive model can effectively predict the temperature effect caused by the Joule heat effect and the athermal effect of current on the material.

Construction of multifunctional lanthanum manganese mixed nanoparticles mediated by ionic liquids for selective aerobic oxidation of cyclohexane

Selective oxidation of alkanes to produce highvalue chemicals is an essential strategy and means to realize efficient utilization of resources.In this work,a strategy of lanthanum manganese mixed metal oxides(LMMO) regulated via a facile ionic liquid (IL)-assisted hydrothermal method was proposed to construct the multifunctional catalysts,which exhibited excellent catalytic performance in the selective aerobic oxidation of cyclohexane.An 8.9%cyclohexane conversion with 90%KA oi(cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone) selectivity was achieved over the optimal LMMO catalyst under mild conditions.The effects of anion type,carbon chain length and concentration of ILs on the structure and properties of catalysts were investigated through various characterizations,indicating the structure-directing and template effect of ILs on the multifunctional catalysts.The formation of self-assembled spherical nanoparticles followed the‘‘dissolution-nucleation-proliferation’’mechanism with the introduction of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate,ascribing the synergistic effect between the microenvironment of ILs and the hydrothermal environment.Importantly,the high reactive oxygen concentration redox capacity,and suitable basic sites of LMMO catalysts mediated by ILs enhance the activation of C-H bonds and molecular oxygen,simultaneously influencing the adsorption and desorption of the substrate.A comprehensive understanding of the high KA oil selectivity and radical reaction mechanism was elucidated based on in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS) and radical trapping experiments.The recycling and regeneration experiments further illuminated that the removal of adsorbed cyclohexanone acting on the LMMO catalyst was the key to achieve high KA oil selectivity.

DLP:towards active defense against backdoor attacks with decoupled learning process

Deep learning models are well known to be susceptible to backdoor attack,where the attacker only needs to provide a tampered dataset on which the triggers are injected.Models trained on the dataset will passively implant the backdoor,and triggers on the input can mislead the models during testing.Our study shows that the model shows different learning behaviors in clean and poisoned subsets during training.Based on this observation,we propose a general training pipeline to defend against backdoor attacks actively.Benign models can be trained from the unreli-able dataset by decoupling the learning process into three stages,i.e.,supervised learning,active unlearning,and active semi-supervised fine-tuning.The effectiveness of our approach has been shown in numerous experiments across various backdoor attacks and datasets.

Increase of chiral sensing ability in host-guest chemistry by magnetic anisotropy

Enantiomeric molecules generally play distinct functions in chemistry, biology, and pharmacology. Similar physical and chemical properties of chiral analytes lay difficulty in discrimination and quantification of the enantiomers. We report herein an efficient approach of increasing the chiral sensing ability of β-cyclodextrin(β-CD), a widely used host molecule, in the hostguest chemistry by magnetic anisotropy. A rigid and chiral lanthanide binding tag was attached to the β-CD to amplify the changes of nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) signals in the host-guest recognition process. The installation of the paramagnetic lanthanide ion in β-CD greatly enhances the enantiomeric discrimination up to 30-fold in comparison with the diamagnetic β-CD reference. In addition, the magnitude of the paramagnetic effects is tunable according to the diverse range of paramagnetic strength of the lanthanide series. The reported method significantly increases the chiral sensing ability of β-CD, which can be applied to other host molecules. The transferred paramagnetic effects, pseudocontact shifts(PCSs) and paramagnetic relaxation enhancements(PREs), from the host to the guest molecules, are valuable structural restraints to determine the absolute stereochemistry of the chiral analytes. The strategy does not need modification of the analytes and is complementary to the reported analytical methods that rely on the functionalization of the chiral analytes.

Lipotoxicity is a pivotal factor that initiates and exacerbates liver injury and is involved in the development of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD).However,there are few reported lipotoxicity inhibitors.Here,we identified a natural anti-lipotoxicity candidate,HN-001,from the marine fungus Aspergillus sp.C1.HN-001 dose-and time-dependently reversed palmitic acid(PA)-induced hepatocyte death.This protection was associated with IRE-1a-mediated XBP-1 splicing inhibition,which resulted in suppression of XBP-1s nuclear translocation and transcriptional regulation.Knockdown of XBP-1s attenuated lipotoxicity,but no additional ameliorative effect of HN-001 on lipotoxicity was observed in XBP-1s knockdown hepatocytes.Notably,the ER stress and lipotoxicity amelioration was associated with PLA2.Both HN-001 and the PLA2 inhibitor MAFP inhibited PLA2 activity,reduced lysophosphatidylcholine(LPC)level,subsequently ameliorated lipotoxicity.In contrast,overexpression of PLA2 caused exacerbation of lipotoxicity and weakened the anti-lipotoxic effects of HN-001.Additionally,HN-001 treatment suppressed the downstream pro-apoptotic JNK pathway.In vivo,chronic administration of HN-001(i.p.)in mice alleviated all manifestations of MAFLD,including hepatic steatosis,liver injury,inflammation,and fibrogenesis.These effects were correlated with PLA2/IRE-1a/XBP-1s axis and JNK signaling suppression.These data indicate that HN-001 has therapeutic potential for MAFLD because it suppresses lipotoxicity,and provide a natural structural basis for developing anti-MAFLD candidates.

An Electrochemical Perspective of Aqueous Zinc Metal Anode

Based on the attributes of nonflammability,environmental benignity,and cost-effectiveness of aqueous electrolytes,as well as the favorable compatibility of zinc metal with them,aqueous zinc ions batteries(AZIBs)become the leading energy storage candidate to meet the requirements of safety and low cost.Yet,aqueous electrolytes,acting as a double-edged sword,also play a negative role by directly or indirectly causing various parasitic reactions at the zinc anode side.These reactions include hydrogen evolution reaction,passivation,and dendrites,resulting in poor Coulombic efficiency and short lifespan of AZIBs.A comprehensive review of aqueous electrolytes chemistry,zinc chemistry,mechanism and chemistry of parasitic reactions,and their relationship is lacking.Moreover,the understanding of strategies for suppressing parasitic reactions from an electrochemical perspective is not profound enough.In this review,firstly,the chemistry of electrolytes,zinc anodes,and parasitic reactions and their relationship in AZIBs are deeply disclosed.subsequently,the strategies for suppressing parasitic reactions from the perspective of enhancing the inherent thermodynamic stability of electrolytes and anodes,and lowering the dynamics of parasitic reactions at Zn/electrolyte interfaces are reviewed.Lastly,the perspectives on the future development direction of aqueous electrolytes,zinc anodes,and Zn/electrolyte interfaces are presented.

Knockout of miR396 genes increases seed size and yield in soybean

Yield improvement has long been an important task for soybean breeding in the world in order to meet the increasing demand for food and animal feed. mi R396 genes have been shown to negatively regulate grain size in rice,but whether mi R396 family members may function in a similar manner in soybean is unknown. Here, we generated eight soybean mutants harboring different combinations of homozygous mutations in the six soybean mi R396genes through genome editing with clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated nuclease(Cas)12SF01 in the elite soybean cultivar Zhonghuang 302(ZH302). Four triple mutants (mir396aci, mir396acd, mir396adf, and mir396cdf), two quadruple mutants(mir396-abcd and mir396acfi), and two quintuple mutants(mir396abcdf and mir396bcdfi) were characterized. We found that plants of all the mir396 mutants produced larger seeds compared to ZH302 plants. Field tests showed that mir396adf and mir396cdf plants have significantly increased yield in growth zones with relatively high latitude which are suited for ZH302 and moderately increased yield in lower latitude. In contrast, mir396abcdf and mir396bcdfiplants have increased plant height and decreased yield in growth zones with relatively high latitude due to lodging issues, but they are suited for low latitude growth zones with increased yield without lodging problems.Taken together, our study demonstrated that loss-of-function of mi R396 genes leads to significantly enlarged seed size and increased yield in soybean, providing valuable germplasms for breeding high-yield soybean.

Human normal flora is a source of probiotics.The safety characteristics of a specific isolate determine its application in foods or drugs.The food-borne-pathogen antagonist strain Lactobacillus gasseri HMV18 is one of the isolates from normal human flora.In this work,we assessed the in vitro pH tolerance,bile tolerance,biogenic amine production,mucin utilization,and safety of in vivo administration to mice to evaluate general health,organ-body weight index,organ histopathological change,whether L.gasseri HMV18 can colonize in the gut or modulate the gut microbiota after oral administration.The results suggest that L.gasseri HMV18 can tolerate pH 3 for 2 h,3%bile for 3 h,biogenic amine negative,mucin usage negative,does not encode verified toxins,and cause no visible change in mice's organs.L.gasseri HMV18 might not colonize in mice's gut,but can significantly affect the structure of gut microbiota.A bibliographical survey suggested that there were as few as 8 opportunistic infection cases from 1984 to 2022 and that the possibility for L.gasseri to cause infection is relatively low.Therefore,this work provides a basis for the foods or drugs application of L.gasseri HMV18 and gives a map of experiments for the safety assessment of probiotics.
