Impacts of different pancreatic resection ranges on endocrine function in Suncus murinus

BACKGROUND Surgical intervention involving the pancreas can lead to impaired glucose tolerance and other types of endocrine *** scope of pancreatectomy and whether it includes the ventral pancreas are the key factors in the development of postoperative *** ventral and dorsal pancreases are almost separated in Suncus murinus(***).AIM To investigate the effects of different extents of pancreatic resection on endocrine function in *** Eight-week-old male *** shrews were randomly divided into three experimental groups according to different pancreatic resection ranges as follows:ventral pancreatectomy(VPx)group;partial pancreatectomy(PPx)group;subtotal pancreatectomy(SPx)group;and a sham-operated *** serum insulin,glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1),pancreatic polypeptide(PP),and somatostatin(SST)levels,as well as food intake,weight,blood glucose,and glucose tolerance were regularly measured for each *** *** treated with PPx and SPx suffered from varying degrees of impaired glucose tolerance,but only a small proportion of the SPx group developed *** *** in the SPx group showed a significant decrease in food intake accompanied by severe weight loss,as well as a significant increase in postprandial serum GLP-1 *** serum PP levels decreased in both the VPx and PPx groups,but not in the SPx *** serum SST levels decreased in both VPx and PPx groups,but the decrease was *** Severe weight loss after pancreatectomy may be related to loss of appetite caused by compensatory elevation of *** and GLP-1 may play a role in resisting blood glucose imbalance.

Dieldrin and endrin removal from water by trioleinembedded adsorbent

A novel triolein-embedded adsorbent for re-moval of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) from water was developed. In this paper, taking dieldrin and endrin as the target pollutants, different factors (temperature, ion strength, pH, and concentration of humic acid) that affect the adsorption rate were investigated. Adsorption isotherms of these two pollutants fitted to Freundlich model well identi-fied the partition mechanism between the adsorbent and water. However, the equilibrium constant of dieldrin was larger than that of endrin due to larger octanol-water coeffi-cient of dieldrin. Adsorption rate of dieldrin increased with the increase of temperature, the decrease of ion strength, pH and concentration of humic acid, whereas adsorption rate of endrin decreased with the increase of temperature and pH. Humic acid firstly increased, and then decreased the adsorp-tion rate of endrin. Ion strength hardly affected the adsorp-tion rate of endrin.

Fast Determination of the rubber Content in Taraxacum kok-saghyz Fresh Biomass Using Portable Near-Infrared Spectroscopy and Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography

Taraxacum kok-saghyz(TKS)is a plant native to the Tianshan valley on the border between China and *** rubber is a good substitute for natural ***'s breeding work necessitates the need to screen high-yielding varieties,hence rapid determination of rubber content is essential for the *** analytical methods cannot meet actual needs in terms of real-time testing and economic ***-infrared spectroscopy analysis technology,which has developed rapidly in the field of industrial process analysis in recent years,is a green detection technology with obvious merits of fast measurement speed,low cost and no sample *** research aims to develop a portable non-destructive near-infrared spectroscopic detection scheme to evaluate the content of natural rubber in TKS fresh *** gas chromatography(Py-GC)was chosen as the reference method for the development of NIR prediction model.208 TKS fresh root samples were collected from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of ***-infrared spectra were acquired for all ***,two-thirds of them were selected as the calibration set,the remaining one-third as the validation set,and the partial least squares method was successfully established a good NIR prediction model for rubber content at 1080-1800 nm with a ratio of performance to deviation(RPD)of 5.54 and coefficient of determination(R^(2))of *** study showed that portable near-infrared spectroscopy could be used with ease for large-scale screening of TKS plants in farmland,and could greatly facilitate TKS germplasm preservation,high-yield cultivation,environment-friendly,high-efficiency and low-cost rubber extraction,and comprehensive advancement of the natural rubber industry thereof.

Synergistic effects of multiscale TiC and dual-phase structure on tensile properties of particle-reinforced steel

The conventional melting methods were used to obtain in situ TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase steel,followed by hot rolling and heat treatment *** aim was to investigate the effect of TiC particles on the fracture behavior of dual-phase steel at different annealing temperatures,by analyzing the microstructure and tensile behavior of the multiscale TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase *** results showed that TiC particles precipitated in the as-cast microstructure of dual-phase steel were distributed along the grain *** hot rolling,the grain boundary-like morphology of the micron-sized TiC particles was disrupted,and the particles became more refined and evenly distributed in the *** tensile tests revealed that the strength of the TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase steel increased with increasing martensite content,while the elongation *** results were similar to those of conventional *** addition of 1 vol.%multiscale TiC particles improved the strength of the dual-phase steel but did not affect elongation of the *** and holes were primarily concentrated around the TiC particles rather than at the interface of martensite and *** main causes of crack sprouting were TiC particle interface cracking and TiC particle internal ***,the study demonstrated the potential of multiscale TiC particle-reinforced dual-phase steel as a strong and tough *** refined distribution of TiC particles in the matrix improved the strength of the material without compromising its *** results also highlighted the importance of careful selection of reinforcement particles to avoid detrimental effects on the fracture behavior of the material.

Deep learning methods for roping defect analysis in aluminum alloy sheets: prediction and grading

Roping is a severe band-like surface defect that occurs in deformed aluminum alloy *** roping prediction and rating are essential for industrial ***,the authors introduced an artificial neural network(ANN)model to efficiently forecast roping behavior across the thickness of large regions with texture *** this study,the previously proposed ANN model for roping prediction is briefly reviewed,and a few-shot learning(FSL)-based method is developed for roping grading with limited *** consider the directionality of the roping patterns,the roping dataset constructed from experimental observations is transformed into the frequency domain for more compact characterization.A transfer-based FSL method is further presented for grade roping with manifold mixup regularization and the Sinkhorn mapping algorithm.A new component-focused representation is also implemented for data-processing,exploiting the close correlation between roping and power distribution in the frequency *** ultimate FSL method achieved an optimal accuracy of 95.65%in roping classification with only five training samples per class,outperforming four typical FSL *** FSL approach can be applied to grade the roping morphologies predicted by the ANN ***,the combination of prediction and grading using deep learning provides a new paradigm for roping analysis and control.

Efficient intracellular delivery of protein drugs is critical for protein *** combination of protein drugs with chemotherapeutics represents a promising strategy in enhancing anti-cancer ***,co-delivery systems for efficient delivery of these two kinds of drugs are still lacking because of their different ***,we show a well-designed delivery system based on dynamic covalent bond for efficient intracellular co-delivery of ribonuclease A(RNase A)and doxorubicin(DOX).Two polymers,PEG-b-P(Asp-co-AspDA)and PAE-b-P(Asp-co-AspPBA),and two 2-acetylphenylboronic acid(2-APBA)-functionalized drugs,2-APBA-RNase A and 2-APBA-DOX,self-assemble into mixed-shell nanoparticles(RNase A/DOX@MNPs)via dynamic phenylboronic acid(PBA)-catechol bond between PBA and dopamine(DA)*** PBA-catechol bond endows the nanoparticles with high stability and excellent stimulus-responsive drug release *** the slight acidic environment at tumor tissue,RNase A/DOX@MNPs are positively charged,promoting their *** cellular uptake into endosome,further protonation of PAE chains leads to the rupture of endosomes because of the proton sponge effect and the cleavage of PBA-catechol bond promotes the release of two *** cytoplasm,the high level of GSH removed the modification of 2-APBA on *** restored RNase A and DOX show a synergistic and enhanced antic-cancer *** system may be a promising platform for intracellular co-delivery of protein drugs and chemotherapeutics.

Objective:To explore the role of proto-oncogene Pim-1 in the proliferation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) ***:Pim-1 expressions in NPC cell lines CNE1,CNE1-GL,CNE-2Z and C666-1 were examined by KT-PCR,western blotting and immunoflucesence,*** CNE1,CNE1-GL and C666-1 cells were treated with different concentrations of Pim-1 special inhibitor,quercelagetin,the cell viability,colony formation rate and migration ability were ***:Pim-1 expression was negative in well-differentiated CNE1 cells,whereas expressed weakly positive in poor-differentiated CNE-2Z cells and strongly positive in undifferentiated C666-1 ***,CNE1-GL cells that derived from CNE1 transfected with an Epstein Barr virus latent membrane protein-1 over-expression plasmid displayed stronger expression of *** of CNE1-GL and C666-1 cells with quercelagetin significantly decreased the cell viability,colony formation rate and migration ability but not the CNE1 ***:These findings suggest that Pim-1 overexpression contributes to NPC proliferation and migration,and targeting Pim-1 may be a potential treatment for anti-Pim-1-expressed NPCs.

Very high-energy electrons(VHEEs)are potential candidates for FLASH radiotherapy for deep-seated *** proposed a compact VHEE facility based on an X-band high-gradient high-power *** this study,we investigated and realized the first X-band backward traveling-wave(BTW)accelerating structure as the buncher for a VHEE facility.A method for calculating the parameters of single cell from the field distribution was introduced to simplify the design of the BTW ***-domain circuit equations were applied to calculate the transient beam parameters of the buncher in the unsteady state.A prototype of the BTW structure with a thermionic cathode-diode electron gun was designed,fabricated,and tested at high power at the Tsinghua X-band high-power test *** structure successfully operated with 5-MW microwave pulses from the pulse compressor and outputted electron bunches with an energy of 8 MeV and a pulsed current of 108 mA.
