During the pre-summer rainy season,heavy rainfall occurs frequently in South *** on polarimetric radar observations,the microphysical characteristics and processes of convective features associated with extreme rainfall rates(ERCFs)are *** the regions with high ERCF occurrence frequency,sub-regional differences are found in the lightning flash rate(lFR)*** the region with higher lFRs,the ERCFs have larger volumes of high reflectivity factor above the freezing level,corresponding to more active riming *** addition,these ERCFs are more organized and display larger spatial coverage,which may be related to the stronger low-level wind shear and higher terrain in the *** the region with lower lFRs,the ERCFs have lower echo tops and lower-echo ***,no clear differences of the most unstable convective available potential energy(MUCAPE)exist in the ERCFs in the regions with different lFR *** of the lFRs,raindrop collisional coalescence is the main process for the growth of raindrops in the *** the ERCFs within the region with lower lFRs,the main mechanism for the rapid increase of liquid water content with decreasing altitude below 4 km is through the warm-rain processes converting cloud drops to ***,in those with higher lFRs,the liquid water content generally decreases with decreasing altitude.

Physiological effects of climate warming on flowering plants and insect pollinators and potential consequences for their interactions

Growing concern about the influence of climate change on flowering plants, pollinators, and the mutualistic interactions between them has led to a recent surge in research. Much of this research has addressed the consequences of warming for phenological and distributional shifts. In contrast, relatively little is known about the physiological responses of plants and insect pollinators to climate warming and, in particular, how these responses might affect plant-pollinator interactions. Here, we summarize the direct physiological effects of temperature on flowering plants and pollinating insects to highlight ways in which plant and pollinator responses could affect floral resources for pollinators, and pollination success for plants, respectively. We also consider the overall effects of these responses on plant-pollinator interaction networks. Plant responses to warming, which include altered flower, nectar, and pollen production, could modify floral resource availability and reproductive output of pollinating insects. Similarly, pollinator responses, such as altered foraging activity, body size, and life span, could affect patterns of pollen flow and pollination success of flowering plants. As a result, network structure could be altered as interactions are gained and lost, weakened and strengthened, even without the gain or loss of species or temporal overlap. Future research that addresses not only how plant and pollinator physiology are affected by warming but also how responses scale up to affect interactions and networks should allow us to better understand and predict the effects of climate change on this important ecosystem service.

Microparticle record in the Guliya ice core and its comparison with polar records since the last interglacial

Based on the study of oxygen isotope and mi-croparticle in the Guliya ice core, atmospheric dust and en-vironmental changes in the northwest Tibetan Plateau since the last interglacial were revealed. The microparticle record indicates that low dust load on the Plateau in the interglacial. Particle concentration increased rapidly when the climate turned into the last glacial and reached the maximum during the MIS 4. In the last Glacial Maximum, however, the en-hancement of microparticle concentration was slight, differ-ing to those in the Antarctic and Greenland. On the orbital timescale, both the temperature on the Tibetan Plateau and summer solar insolation in the Northern Hemisphere had their impact on the microparticle record, but the difference in phase and amplitude also existed. Though having the same dust source, microparticle records in the ice cores on the Tibetan Plateau and the Greenland seem to have different significance.

Mesenchymal stem cells(MSC)have pushed the field of stem cell-based therapies by inducing tissue regeneration,immunosuppression,and angiogenesis mainly through vesicles and soluble factors release(paracrine signaling).MSC-extracellular vesicles(MSC-EV)adaptable secretome and homing to injured sites allowed researchers to unlock a new era of cell-free based *** parallel,nanoparticles(NP)have been explored in contributing to transport and drug delivery systems,giving drugs desired physical-chemical properties to exploit cell ***,NPs can be quickly recognized by immune cells and cleared from *** this viewpoint,we explore how combining both therapeutic strategies can improve efficacy and circumvent limitations of both *** benefit from the potent MSC membrane composition,guiding chemotaxis to tumor sites,a very restricted ***-EV has low immunogenicity,high stability,long half-life and can explore tissue targeting ligands as a precise drug carry,even across biological *** properties promote enhanced targeted drug delivery that can be combined with NP,exploring biological membrane production through:*** cell therapy with NP-infused MSC;***-containing MSC-EV generated by NP-infused MSC;*** coating NP in MSC membrane(“MSC NanoGhosts”),allowing precise cargo definition without losing ***,nanotechnology combined with cell-based therapeutic resources can greatly improve targeted drug delivery,improving efficacy and opening a new venue of therapeutic possibilities.

Microtexture and Distribution of Minerals in Hydrothermal Barite-Silica Chimney from the Franklin Seamount, SW Pacific: Constraints on Mode of Formation

An extinct hydrothermal barite-silica chimney from the Franklin Seamount of the Woodlark Basin, in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, was investigated for mineral distribution and geochemical composition. Six layers on either side of the orifice of a chimney show significant disparity in color, mineral assemblage and major element composition. Electron microscope（SEM） images reveal that the peripheral wall of the chimney is composed of colloform silica, suggesting that incipient precipitation of silica-saturated hydrothermal fluid initiated the development of the chimney wall. Intermediate layers, between the exterior wall and the inner fluid-orifice, dominate with barite and sulfides. low Sr-to-Ba ratios（SrO/BaO = 0.015–0.017） indicate restricted fluid-seawater mixing, which causes relatively high-temperature formation of the intermediate layers. Whereas the innermost layer bordering the chimney orifice is characterized by more silica and a higher Sr-to-Ba ratio（SrO/BaO = 0.023）, could have formed due to a paragenetic shift from a high-temperature active phase to a cooler waning stage of formation. A paragenetic shift is also probably responsible for the change in mineral formation mechanism that resulted in the textural variation of barite and colloform silica developed during different growth phases of this barite-silica chimney.

Comparative Proteomics Based on 18O labeling to Evaluate the Hepatotoxicity of Tris（2,3-dibromopropyl） Isocyanuratein Rats

Detecting protein expression levels in organisms exposed to environmental pollutants can help us understand the action mechanism of toxicity. In the present study, adult female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats received a consecutive intraperitoneal injection of tris(2,3-dibromopropyl) isocyanurate (TBC) for seven days, and the ^16O/^18O labeling comparative proteomic approach was used to study the change of liver proteome in these rats. Thirty six differential proteins were identified between the control group and the high-dose-exposed group (8 mg/kg), of which, twenty eight proteins were down-regulated and eight proteins were up-regulated. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that most of the differential proteins were related with the metabolic and cellular processes. In addition, the contents of malondialdehyde (MDA), catalase (CAT), and glutathione (GSH) in liver were measured to evaluate the oxidative stress status induced by TBC exposure. Together, these findings showed that TBC might be toxic to liver by disrupting metabolic process and apoptosis. The results might provide a better insight into the mechanism of toxicity induced by TBC.

This paper investigates and discusses the use of information divergence,through the widely used Kullback–leibler(Kl)divergence,under the multivariate(generalized)γ-order normal distribution(γ-GND).The behavior of the Kl divergence,as far as its symmetricity is concerned,is studied by calculating the divergence of γ-GND over the Student’s multivariate t-distribution and vice *** special cases are also given and ***,three symmetrized forms of the Kl divergence,i.e.,the Jeffreys distance,the geometric-Kl as well as the harmonic-Kl distances,are computed between two members of the γ-GND family,while the corresponding differences between those information distances are also discussed.

Geochemical characterization of Cretaceous sandstones from the Southern Benue Trough, Nigeria

Geochemical studies of sandstones from the three lithostratigraphic successions in the southern Benue Trough of Nigeria were undertaken for a geochemical characterization of the sandstones, and to assess their strati-graphic and source evolution. Major and trace elements data were obtained from outcrop sandstone samples. The SiO2/Al2O3, Fe2O3/K2O ratios and CaO contents have been used to characterize the Cretaceous sandstones into Al-rich and high and low Fe2O3/K2O ratio sandstones. Results indicate that there are geochemical features that display stratigraphic trends across the succession from the Asu River Group, Eze-Aku Group to the proto-Niger Delta succession which may imply a discontinuous evolution from different source terrains of Precambrian and Mesozoic ages that supplied the sediments. The Asu River Group sandstones have lower SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and higher MgO; the Eze-Aku sandstones have higher TiO2, CaO, alkalis and lower MgO while the proto-Niger Delta sandstones have higher SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and lower alkalis and CaO. These discontinuities signify the influence of tectonic impulses that af- fected the southern Benue Trough during the Cretaceous time. Changes in ratios of TiO2/Al2O3, Fe2O3, Cr and Zr suggest an increasingly mafic contribution to the depositional basin with time. The chemical index of alteration increases with time, possibly suggesting that a more intense weathering regime in the hinterland developed with time.

BACKGROUND Bouveret syndrome,also known as gallstone ileus,is a rare form of gastric outlet obstruction accounting for 1%-3%of *** condition is most often reported in *** diagnosis can be challenging and is often missed due to atypical presentations,which occasionally mimic gastric outlet obstruction symptoms such as nausea,vomiting,loss of appetite and *** symptoms vary with stone *** stones are managed with a surgical approach,but this carries increased morbidity and *** the past decade,the endoscopic approach has emerged as an alternative mode of treatment,but it is generally unsuccessful in the management of larger-sized stones.A literature review revealed cases of successful endoscopic treatment requiring multiple sessions for stone sizes measuring up to about 4.5 *** we present a unique case of an elderly patient with Bouveret syndrome with a 5 cm stone mimicking a gastric mass and causing gastric outlet obstruction,who was successfully managed in a single session using a complete endoscopic approach with laser *** SUMMARY An 85-year-old female patient presented with 1-month history of intermittent abdominal pain,vomiting,decreased appetite and weight *** abdominal computed tomography showed a 4.5 cm×4.7 cm partially calcified mass at the gastric pylorus causing gastric outlet *** showed an ulcerated fistulous opening and a large 5 cm impacted gallstone in the duodenal *** nets and baskets were used in an attempt to remove the stone,but this approach was *** her advanced age,poor physical condition and underlying comorbidities,she was deemed to be high-risk for ***,a minimally invasive approach using endoscopic laser lithotripsy was attempted and successfully treated the ***-procedure,the patient experienced complete resolution of her symptoms with no complications and was able to tolerate her *** was subsequently discharged home

湖北钉螺是日本血吸虫的唯一中间宿主,控制钉螺在血吸虫病防治工作中具有重要意义。钉螺属水陆两栖软体动物,常分布于河流和湖泊消落带,具有沿水系分布的特征,呈流域性分布。既往研究较少关注流域因素对钉螺种群分布格局及动态变化的影响。流域生态学作为一门新兴学科,将有助于揭示钉螺分布内在联系、识别钉螺分布脆弱区域;同时可结合血吸虫病控制和长江生态保护具体需求,规划钉螺控制与保护优先区域。同时,流域生态学还能从流域嵌块层级性评估已建或拟建水利工程对钉螺控制的影响。
