Management of Pediatric Emergencies on the General Hospital

Due to the lack of casuistry, the management of the pediatric patient remains a source of stress and high risk of errors for the personnel working in the Territorial Emergency Service, General First Aid and Multipurpose ICU （intensive care unit）, In order to facilitate the management of emergent or urgent pediatric casuistry, a specific training course, which involves all medical and paramedical staff; has begun in the reality of Pordenone Hospital. The new work strategy consists of an organized equipment according to the Broselow method, adapting the American model to our reality. A dedicated course was created to become confidential with the new operative strategy, to reduce mistakes and stress from the staff. After, a questionnaire was given to nurses working on ICU Dept. to assess the level of confidence with the new method introduced. It showed an improved confidence with the method, easier management of the pediatric emergency, fewer stress and better communication between health workers. Subsequently an updating course was created dedicated to the medical and nursing staff working on the Emergency Department of the entire province to start the integration between the hospitals in the area. The fmal project includes the drafting of a provincial protocol for the use of both intra and extra hospital pediatric material. The goal is to ensure that they do not create unevenness, errors or lack of care and communication between the professionals involved in the management of the pediatric emergency, from taking charge on the territory to hospitalization or transfer to the center Hub.

Vulvar Swelling in a 12-Year-Old Girl: An Early Manifestation of Crohn’s Disease

Vulvar Crohn’s disease (VCD) is a rare complication of Crohn’s disease, especially in pediatric population. An early diagnosis can result difficult if the complication does not present in conjunction with the classic gastrointestinal symptoms that characterize this disease. In this study we present the case of a 12-year-old girl whose initial symptom of Crohn’s disease was a symptomatic vulvar swelling promoted by a rectovaginal fistula. We also provide an overview of Crohn’s disease and the vulvar changes found in the course of this disease.

Given a Segre squarefree Veronese configuration, following Bernd Sturmfels, we improve the study of the graphs associated to the configuration. We determine two special families of toric ideals and a finite set of moves for each of them, which still guarantee simultaneously the connection of all graphs arising from each family of moves.

Assessment of lead pollution in topsoils of a southern Italy area: Analysis of urban and peri-urban environment

Exposure to lead（Pb） may affect adversely human health. Mapping soil Pb contents is essential to obtain a quantitative estimate of potential risk of Pb contamination. The main aim of this paper was to determine the soil Pb concentrations in the urban and peri-urban area of Cosenza-Rende to map their spatial distribution and assess the probability that soil Pb concentration exceeds a critical threshold that might cause concern for human *** were collected at 149 locations from residual and non-residual topsoil in gardens,parks, flower-beds, and agricultural fields. Fine earth fraction of soil samples was analyzed by X-ray Fluorescence spectrometry. Stochastic images generated by the sequential Gaussian simulation were jointly combined to calculate the probability of exceeding the critical threshold that could be used to delineate the potentially risky areas. Results showed areas in which Pb concentration values were higher to the Italian regulatory values. These polluted areas were quite large and likely, they could create a significant health risk for human beings and vegetation in the near future. The results demonstrated that the proposed approach can be used to study soil contamination to produce geochemical maps,and identify hot-spot areas for soil Pb concentration.

The role of exosomes in peripheral nerve regeneration

Peripheral nerve injuries remain problematic to treat, with poor functional recovery commonly observed. Injuries resulting in a nerve gap create specific difficulties for axonal regeneration. Approaches to address these difficulties include autologous nerve grafts （which are currently the gold standard treatment） and synthetic conduits, with the latter option being able to be im- pregnated with Schwann cells or stem cells which provide an appropriate micro-environment for neuronal regeneration to occur. Transplanting stem cells, however, infers additional risk of malignant transformation as well as manufacturing difficulties and ethical concerns, and the use of autologous nerve grafts and Schwann ceils requires the sacrifice of a functioning nerve. A new approach utilizing exosomes, secreted extracellular vesicles, could avoid these complications. In this review, we summarize the current literature on exosomes, and suggest how they could help to improve axonal regeneration following peripheral nerve injury.

We read the article by del Giorgio et *** the March 2023 issue of World Journal of Pediatrics with great inter-est[1].The authors evaluated the incidence of pediatric appendicitis at their institutions during the first year of the pandemic compared to a four-year control *** found an increased incidence of appendicitis but did not find differences between study groups for length of stay,age and sex distributions,and proportion of complicated appendicitis.

Data narratives are an emerging form of communication that employs enhanced media for effective knowledge transfer of complex *** in the fields of data visualization and artificial intelligence have begun to pioneer new structures of communication to improve the efficiency of construction and the retention of information provided by the knowledge transfer *** this paper,we report the results of an empirical study conducted to compare the performance of various narrative communication techniques including frame based narrative visualization,documentary narrative visualization,computer generated text narratives and human generated text *** assess the knowledge transfer performance for each of these data driven narrative *** all conditions,an identical set of knowledge retention questions assessed participants’recall of details from their assigned narrative *** analysis on group performance answering the knowledge retention questions revealed that some narrative communication techniques perform better with general audiences.
