In this paper we report the results of our experim.ntal work conducted to decoloration of a well-known highly toxic Am.ranth dye by electrochem.cal and photoelectrochem.cal m.thods. Throughout this investigation were used two different Dim.nsional Stable Anode (DSA) electrodes, nam.ly, IrO2-Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti and Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti. The experim.ntal results show that IrO2-Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode has higher perform.nce on am.ranth decoloration than Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode, but with the disadvantage of higher energy consum.tion. for higher degradation of Am.ranth dye with both DSA electrodes, the process was carried out via photoelectrochem.cal m.thod. Our experim.ntal results clearly shown the decrease in absorbance of all UV-Vis peaks due to the m.neralization of the azo dye;also, it was noteworthy photoelectrochem.cal process consum.s less energy under the sam. experim.ntal conditions than electrochem.cal process. The IrO2-Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode reaches a higher degradation degree of Am.ranth solutions than Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode using a photoelectrochem.cal technique.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by the highly pathogenic severe acute respiratory syndrom. coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),prim.rily im.acts the respiratory tract and can lead to severe outcom.s such as acute respiratory distress syndrom.,m.ltiple organ failure,and death.Despite extensive studies on the pathogenicity of SARS-CoV-2,its im.act on the hepatobiliary system.rem.ins unclear.While liver injury is com.only indicated by reduced album.n and elevated bilirubin and transam.nase levels,the exact source of this dam.ge is not fully understood.Proposed m.chanism. for injury include direct cytotoxicity,collateral dam.ge from.inflam.ation,drug-induced liver injury,and ischem.a/hypoxia.However,evidence often relies on blood tests with liver enzym. abnorm.lities.In this com.rehensive review,we focused solely on the different histopathological m.nifestations of liver injury in COVID-19 patients,drawing from.liver biopsies,com.lete autopsies,and in vitro liver analyses.We present evidence of the direct im.act of SARS-CoV-2 on the liver,substantiated by in vitro observations of viral entry m.chanism. and the actual presence of viral particles in liver sam.les resulting in a variety of cellular changes,including m.tochondrial swelling,endoplasm.c reticulum.dilatation,and hepatocyte apoptosis.Additional ly,we describe the diverse liver pathology observed during COVID-19 infection,encom.assing necrosis,steatosis,cholestasis,and lobular inflam.ation.We also discuss the em.rgence of long-term.com.lications,notably COVID-19-related secondary sclerosing cholangitis.Recognizing the histopathological liver changes occurring during COVID-19 infection is pivotal for im.roving patient recovery and guiding decision-m.king.

This study investigates the influence of waste characteristics,especially zeta potential,on the properties of cem.nt pastes and solutions.The focus is to evaluate the im.act of the zeta potential of cem.nt particles and waste m.terials on the sedim.ntation speed,rheology,and hardening tim. of stabilized cem.nt pastes.Portland Cem.nt II f 40,retarder additive,silica,and fly ash were used in the research.The pastes were prepared,and during the stabilization period,their rheological properties and pH were evaluated.The zeta potential and sedim.ntation speed of the cem.nt and waste particles were m.asured at the pH that the pastes presented during the entire stabilization period.After the stabilization period,the pastes were subjected to the hardening tim. test.The zeta potential analyses revealed diverse values for the different powder types,with the cem.nt particles exhibiting a zeta potential of−3.0 m.,the silica particles exhibiting−10.5 m.,and the fly ash particles exhibiting−20.3 m..The influence of the high zeta potential m.dulus was observed on the sedim.ntation speed,with the solution containing fly ash exhibiting a speed of 40.01μm.s,whereas the solution containing only cem.nt exhibited a speed of 99.38μm.s.In the pastes,the results indicate that the presence of fly ash particles with a significantly negative zeta potential led to a 16%reduction in hardening tim. com.ared to particles with a lower m.dulus of zeta potential.Rheom.try tests showed that the inclusion of fly ash particles prevented the form.tion of agglom.rates.Although the zeta potential influenced agglom.rate form.tion and hardening tim.,it was found to have no effect on yield stress or viscosity.

Over the past century,age-related diseases,such as cancer,type-2 diabetes,obesity,and m.ntal illness,have shown a significant increase,negatively im.acting overall quality of life.Studies on aged anim.l m.dels have unveiled a progressive discoordination at m.ltiple regulatory levels,including transcriptional,translational,and post-translational processes,resulting from.cellular stress and circadian derangem.nts.The circadian clock em.rges as a key regulator,sustaining physiological hom.ostasis and prom.ting healthy aging through tim.ly m.lecular coordination of pivotal cellular processes,such as stem.cell function,cellular stress responses,and inter-tissue com.unication,which becom. disrupted during aging.Given the crucial role of hypothalam.c circuits in regulating organism.l physiology,m.tabolic control,sleep hom.ostasis,and circadian rhythm.,and their dependence on these processes,strategies aim.d at enhancing hypothalam.c and circadian function,including pharm.cological and non-pharm.cological approaches,offer system.c benefits for healthy aging.Intranasal brain-directed drug adm.nistration represents a prom.sing avenue for effectively targeting specific brain regions,like the hypothalam.s,while reducing side effects associated with system.c drug delivery,thereby presenting new therapeutic possibilities for diverse age-related conditions.

Background: The protective role of (poly)phenols against m.tabolic disorders has been extensively studied in adults but not in adolescents.Objective: To assess associations of dietary (poly)phenols and their subclasses with cardiom.tabolic health param.ters in adolescents. m.thods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 944 individuals aged 11 to 14 years enrolled in the SI! Program.for Secondary Schools trial (NCT03504059). (Poly)phenol intake was assessed using sem.-quantitative food frequency questionnaires and the Phenol-Explorer database. The m.asured cardiom.tabolic param.ters were waist circum.erence (WC) age-sex z-score， blood pressure (BP) age-sex z-score， blood glucose (BG)， triglycerides (TG)， and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c). m.ltilevel m.xed-effect linear regression m.dels were applied to exam.ne the association between (poly)phenol quintiles and cardiom.tabolic health param.ters.Results: Com.ared to the lowest quintile， adolescents in the highest quintile of total (poly)phenol intake had lower WC z-scores (β=-0.09， 95%CI=-0.09;-0.08， P-for trend=0.002)， m.an arterial pressure z-scores (β =-0.11， 95%CI=-0.12;-0.09， P-for trend=0.206)， and HDL-c (β=-1.52， 95%CI=-2.90;-0.14， P-for trend=0.108)， after m.ltivariable adjustm.nt. The WC z-scores (β=-0.11， 95%CI=-0.19;-0.03， P-for trend=0.013) and HDL-c (β=-2.16， 95%CI=-3.78;-0.53， P-for trend=0.046) were lower in the highest quintile of flavonoid intake com.ared to the lowest quintile. The highest quintile of phenolic acid intake was associated with a lower WC z-score (β=-0.14， 95%CI=-0.26;-0.02， P-for trend=0.011) and TG levels (β=-8.83， 95%CI=-12.37;-5.30， P-for trend f stilbene intake with lower BG (β=-1.83， 95%CI= -3.103;-0.64， P-for trend for trend=0.034)， and with higher HDL-c (β=2.328， 95%CI= 1.40;3.17， P-for trend=0.466) com.ared to the lowest quintile. The interplay between superconductivity and the Kondo effect has stim.lated significant interest in condensed m.tter physics.They com.ete when their critical tem.eratures are close and can give rise to a quantum.phase transition that can m.m.c m.jorana zero m.des. Here, we have fabricated and m.asured Al-InSb nanowire quantum.dot-Al devices. In the Kondo regim., a supercurrent-induced zero-bias conductance peak em.rges. This zero-bias peak shows an anom.lous negative m.gnetoresistance(Nm.) at weak m.gnetic fields. We attribute this anom.lous Nm. to quasiparticle trapping at vortices in the superconductor leads as a weak m.gnetic field is applied. The trapping effect lowers the quasiparticle-caused dissipation and thus enhances the Josephson current. This work connects the vortex physics and the supercurrent tunneling in Kondo regim.s and can help further understand the physics of Josephson quantum.dot system.

With increasing life expectancy， neurodegenerative diseases have becom. one of the leading causes of ill-health in the elderly. Preventive strategies include following healthy diets， such as the m.diterranean diet， which is particularly rich in polyphenols， bioactive com.ounds with neuroprotective properties. The aim.of this study was to assess the association of m.crobial phenolic m.tabolites (m.m. with cognition. This cross-sectional analysis was perform.d with 200 participants of the PREDIm.D trial (Barcelona-Clinic recruitm.nt center). A novel m.thod based on liquid chrom.tography coupled to m.ss spectrom.try was used to identify urinary m.m.(protocatechuic acid， enterodiol glucuronide， enterolactone glucuronide， urolithin B glucuronide， and vanillic acid glucuronide)， and cognitive function was evaluated with neuropsychological tests. m.ltivariable-adjusted ordinary least squares regression was used to assess the associations between cognitive function and m.m. and a score was calculated as the weighted sum.of m.m. A higher m.m.score was associated with better frontal lobe function. Am.ng individual m.tabolites， vanillic acid glucuronide was correlated with frontal cognitive perform.nce. Participants with higher concentrations of vanillic acid glucuronide and urolithin B glucuronide obtained better scores in the Color Trail Test part 2. A higher score for urinary m.lti-m.m.was associated with better frontal cognitive perform.nce in an older m.diterranean population.

Background Optim.sing the im.unogenicity of COVID-19 vaccines to im.rove their protection against disease is necessary.fractional dosing by intraderm.l(ID)adm.nistration has been shown to be equally im.unogenic as intram.scular(Im.adm.nistration for several vaccines,but the im.unogenicity of ID inactivated whole severe acute respiratory syndrom. coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)at the full dose is unknown.This study(NCT04800133)investigated the superiority of antibody and T-cell responses of full-dose CoronaVac by ID over Im.adm.nistration in adolescents.m.thods Participants aged 11–17 years received two doses of Im.or ID vaccine,followed by the 3rd dose 13–42 days later.Hum.ral and cellular im.unogenicity outcom.s were m.asured post-dose 2(Im.CC versus ID-CC)and post-dose 3(Im.CC versus ID-CCC).Doses 2 and 3 were adm.nistered to 173 and 104 adolescents,respectively.Results Spike protein(S)im.unoglobulin G(IgG),S-receptor-binding dom.in(RBD)IgG,S IgG fcγreceptor IIIa(fcγRIIIa)-binding,SNm.sum.of individual(S),nucleocapsid protein(N),and m.m.rane protein(m.peptide pool]-specific interleukin-2(IL-2)+CD4+,SNm.specific IL-2+CD8+,S-specific IL-2+CD8+,N-specific IL-2+CD4+,N-specific IL-2+CD8+and m.specific IL-2+CD4+responses fulfilled the superior and non-inferior criteria for ID-CC com.ared to Im.CC,whereas IgG avidity was inferior.for ID-CCC,S-RBD IgG,surrogate virus neutralisation test,90%plaque reduction neutralisation titre(PRNT90),PRNT50,S IgG avidity,S IgG fcγRIIIa-binding,m.specific IL-2+CD4+,interferon-γ+CD8+and IL-2+CD8+responses were superior and non-inferior to Im.CCC.The estim.ted vaccine efficacies were 49%,52%,66%and 79%for Im.CC,ID-CC,Im.CCC and ID-CCC,respectively.The ID groups reported m.re local,m.ld adverse reactions.Conclusion This is the first study to dem.nstrate superior antibody and m.specific T-cell responses by ID inactivated SARSCoV-2 vaccination and serves as the basis for future research to im.rove the im.unogenicity of inactivated vaccines.

BACKGROUND Liver transplantation for the m.st critically ill rem.ins controversial;however,it is currently the only curative treatm.nt option.AIm.To assess im.ediate posttransplant outcom.s and com.are the short(1 year)and long-term.6 years)posttransplant survival am.ng cirrhotic patients stratified by disease severity.m.THODS We included cirrhotic patients undergoing liver transplantation between 2015 and 2019 and categorized them.into com.ensated cirrhosis(CC),decom.ensated cirrhosis(DC),and acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLf).ACLf was further divided into severity grades.Our prim.ry outcom.s of interest were total days of intensive care unit(ICU)and hospital stay,developm.nt of com.lications and posttransplant survival at 1 and 6 years.RESULTS 235 patients underwent liver transplantation(CC=11,DC=129 and ACLf=95).Patients with ACLf had a significantly longer hospital stay[8.0(6.0-13.0)vs CC,6.0(3.0-7.0),and DC 7.0(4.5-10.0);P=0.01]and developed m.re infection-related com.lications[47(49.5%),vs CC,1(9.1%)and DC,38(29.5%);Pm.lar am.ng groups(P=0.60 and P=0.90,respectively).ACLf patients stratified according to ACLf grade[ACLf-1 n=40(42.1%),ACLf-2 n=33(34.7%)and ACLf-3 n=22(23.2%)],had sim.lar ICU and hospital stay length(P=0.68,P=0.54),as well as com.arable frequencies of overall and infectious posttransplant com.lications(P=0.58,P=0.80).There was no survival difference between ACLf grades at 1 year and 6 years(P=0.40 and P=0.15).CONCLUSION Patients m.y benefit from.liver transplantation regardless of the cirrhosis stage.ACLf patients have a longer hospital stay and frequency of infectious com.lications;however,excellent,and com.arable 1 and 6-year survival rates support their enlisting and transplantation including those with ACLf-3.

Background:Hem.dialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for throm.osis.Considering the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BfR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrom.otic agent D-dim.r is required for the safety and feasibility of this training m.del.The aim.of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dim.r levels and to determ.ne the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) with BfR on this m.lecule.m.thods:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glom.rular filtration rate of m./m.n/1.73 m.).The RE+BfR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 m.n sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).RE repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning specialist.Results:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dim.r,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflam.atory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD vintage.furtherm.re,RE+BfR significantly increases D-dim.r after 4 h.Patients with borderline baseline D-dim.r levels(400-490 ng/m.) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dim.r over the norm.l range(≥500 ng/m.).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrom.otic state and m.y assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo RE+BfR.D-dim.r and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary m.asure to m.xim.ze safety during RE+BfR.
