U-Net Models for Representing Wind Stress Anomalies over the Tropical Pacific and Their Integrations with an Intermediate Coupled Model for ENSO Studies

El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)is the strongest interannual climate mode influencing the coupled ocean-atmosphere system in the tropical Pacific,and numerous dynamical and statistical models have been developed to simulate and predict *** some simplified coupled ocean-atmosphere models,the relationship between sea surface temperature(SST)anomalies and wind stress(τ)anomalies can be constructed by statistical methods,such as singular value decomposition(SVD).In recent years,the applications of artificial intelligence(AI)to climate modeling have shown promising prospects,and the integrations of AI-based models with dynamical models are active areas of *** study constructs U-Net models for representing the relationship between SSTAs andτanomalies in the tropical Pacific;the UNet-derivedτmodel,denoted asτUNet,is then used to replace the original SVD-basedτmodel of an intermediate coupled model(ICM),forming a newly AI-integrated ICM,referred to as *** simulation results obtained from ICM-UNet demonstrate their ability to represent the spatiotemporal variability of oceanic and atmospheric anomaly fields in the equatorial *** the ocean-only case study,theτUNet-derived wind stress anomaly fields are used to force the ocean component of the ICM,the results of which also indicate reasonable simulations of typical ENSO *** results demonstrate the feasibility of integrating an AI-derived model with a physics-based dynamical model for ENSO modeling ***,the successful integration of the dynamical ocean models with the AI-based atmospheric wind model provides a novel approach to ocean-atmosphere interaction modeling studies.

Provenance of the Lower Jurassic pyroclastic sediments in the Zigui Basin:Implication for crustal thickening in the eastern Qinling orogenic belt

The Late Triassic witnessed significant collisional orogenic events in the Qinling orogenic belt,accompanied by magma underplating and tectonic *** processes potentially resulted in substantial crustal thickening and uplift of the Qinling ***,due to the absence of igneous rock records from this period in the eastern section of the Qinling orogen,the changes in crustal thickness during this orogenic process have not been thoroughly investigated.A series of foreland basins emerged during the Early Mesozoic to the south of the East Qinling orogenic *** basins have preserved clastic sedimentary rocks derived from the uplift and erosion of the orogenic *** sedimentary records serve as crucial records to reconstruct the evolutionary history of the Qinling *** further clarify the collisional orogenic process of the Qinling orogenic belt,this study conducted in situ volcanic lithic fragment geochemistry,detrital zircon U-Pb chronology and trace element composition analysis on the sandstones of the Lower Jurassic Tongzhuyuan Formation in the Zigui *** results suggest that the sandstones,which exhibit a significant abundance of volcanic lithic fragments,has a characteristic detrital zircon age group of 250–200 Ma,indicating a major provenance from the Triassic volcanic *** with regional correlation and paleocurrent analysis,the detrital zircon U-Pb age data show that the source area of volcanic rocks should be in the Qinling orogenic belt to the north of the *** interpretation is further supported by the Triassic granitic rocks exposed in the western part of the orogenic belt,representing the magmatism during the Triassic collisional orogenesis in the Qinling *** on the co-varying relationships between present-day crust thickness with the chemical compositions of granite rocks and zircons,the La/Yb ratio of volcanic lithic fragments in the Tongzhuyuan Formation and the Eu/Eu*ratio of detrital zircon

π-conjugated chromophore functionalized high-nuclearity titanium-oxo clusters containing structural unit of anatase for photocatalytic selective oxidation of sulfides

N-doping has significant influence in manipulating the properties of TiO_(2),and this has stimulated the development of N-donor-functionalized titanium-oxo clusters(TOCs)as molecular models to study the structure-property ***,the structural type and photoresponsive application are still limited for such TOCs,especially regarding the high-nuclearity TOCs that contain structure unit of TiO_(2)for ***,we showed the synthesis of a series of high-nuclearity TOCs 1-3 compounds usingπ-conjugated 1,10-phenanthroline(phen)as chromophore and N-donor functional *** 1 features cocrystal structure composed of one[Ti_(26)]~(2+)and half[Ti_(22)]~(2+),which renders it as the first cocrystallized TOC containing two positively charged species and phen-functionalized TOC showing the highest nuclearity up to 37 Ti *** adjusting the synthetic conditions,the individual{Ti_(22)}and{Ti_(26)}clusters can also be isolated as Compounds 2 and 3,*** core structure of{Ti_(22)}is mainly constructed from four lacunary{Ti_(4)}derived from pentagonal{Ti(Ti)_5}unit,while{Ti_(26)}is built from four complete{Ti(Ti)_5}***,a{Ti_8O_(14)}structure unit of anatase TiO_(2)can be identified in{Ti_(26)}.Based on the unique structural features and proper photophysical and photochemical properties of Compounds 1-3,they are applied for photocatalytic *** to the presence of anatase structure unit in{Ti_(26)}and the synergistic effect from{Ti_(22)}and{Ti_(26)},the catalytic performance presents in the order of Compound 1>Compound 3>Compound *** work provides excellent models to understand the structureproperty relationship from the perspective of cocrystallization and Ti-O binding model and will further promote the application of TOCs as functional catalysts for organic transformation.

Low Surface Brightness Galaxies Selected by Different Model Fitting

We present a study of low surface brightness galaxies(LSBGs) selected by fitting the images for all the galaxies inα.40 SDSS DR7 sample with two kinds of single-component models and two kinds of two-component models(disk+bulge):single exponential,single sersic,exponential+deVaucular(exp+deV),and exponential+sérsic(exp+ser).Under the criteria of the B band disk central surface brightness μ_(0,disk)(B)≥22.5 mag arcsec^(-2) and the axis ratio b/a> 0.3,we selected four none-edge-on LSBG samples from each of the models which contain 1105,1038,207,and 75 galaxies,*** are 756 galaxies in common between LSBGs selected by exponential and sersic models,corresponding to 68.42% of LSBGs selected by the exponential model and 72.83% of LSBGs selected by the sersic model,the rest of the discrepancy is due to the difference in obtaining μ_(0) between the exponential and sersic *** on the fitting,in the range of 0.5≤n≤1.5,the relation of μ_(0) from two models can be written as μ_(0,sérsic)-μ_(0,exp)=-1.34(n-1).The LSBGs selected by disk+bulge models(LSBG_(2)comps) are more massive than LSBGs selected by single-component models(LSBG_1comp),and also show a larger disk *** the bulges in the majority of our LSBG_(2)comps are not prominent,more than 60% of our LSBG_(2)comps will not be selected if we adopt a single-component model *** also identified 31 giant low surface brightness galaxies(gLSBGs) from LSBG_(2)*** are located at the same region in the color-magnitude diagram as other *** we compared different criteria of gLSBGs selection,we find that for gas-rich LSBGs,M_(*)> 10^(10)M_⊙ is the best to distinguish between gLSBGs and normal LSBGs with bulge.

Intercultural trust in global contexts plays a central role in helping people from different cultures to communicate comfortably,which is essential for *** to construct a framework that might foster international cooperation,and thus be helpful for coping with global emergencies,we relate a Western nomological approach to an Eastern systems approach to analyse intercultural trust in global *** cultural impacts on intercultural trust and the nomological framework of cultural differences,we propose an intercultural trust model to interpret how cultural differences influence trust.A qualitative study of Chinese-Irish interactions was conducted to interpret this *** organized 10 seminars on intercultural trust,and interviewed 16 people to further explore the respondents'deeper feelings and experiences about intercultural trust in global *** this study,we have identified factors impacting on intercultural trust,and found that intercultural trust can be developed and improved in various *** llustrate these ways,we have provided tactics and methods for building intercultural trust in global *** are highlighted for organizations to avoid cultural clashes and relevant political or economic risks.

SHEL:a semantically enhanced hardware-friendly entity linking method

With the help of pre-trained language models,the accuracy of the entity linking task has made great strides in recent ***,most models with excellent performance require fine-tuning on a large amount of training data using large pre-trained language models,which is a hardware threshold to accomplish this *** researchers have achieved competitive results with less training data through ingenious methods,such as utilizing information provided by the named entity recognition *** paper presents a novel semantic-enhancement-based entity linking approach,named semantically enhanced hardware-friendly entity linking(SHEL),which is designed to be hardware friendly and efficient while maintaining good ***,SHEL's semantic enhancement approach consists of three aspects:(1)semantic compression of entity descriptions using a text summarization model;(2)maximizing the capture of mention contexts using asymmetric heuristics;(3)calculating a fixed size mention representation through pooling *** series of semantic enhancement methods effectively improve the model's ability to capture semantic information while taking into account the hardware constraints,and significantly improve the model's convergence speed by more than 50%compared with the strong baseline model proposed in this *** terms of performance,SHEL is comparable to the previous method,with superior performance on six well-established datasets,even though SHEL is trained using a smaller pre-trained language model as the encoder.

Study on the green extraction of corncob xylan by deep eutectic solvent

Corn as one of the world's major food crops,its by-product corn cob is also rich in ***,the unreasonable utilization of corn cob often causes the environmental pollution,waste of resources and other *** one of the most abundant polymers in nature,xylan is widely used in food,medicine,materials and other *** cob is rich in xylan,which is an ideal raw material for extracting ***,the intractable lignin is covalently linked to xylan,which increases the difficulty of xylan *** has been reported that the deep eutectic solvent(DES)could preferentially dissolve lignin in biomass,thereby dissolving the ***,the xylan in the extract was separated by ethanol precipitation *** xylan precipitate was obtained after centrifugation,while the supernatant was *** components of the supernatant after ethanol precipitation were separated by the rotary *** ethanol,water and DES were collected for the subsequent extraction of corn cob *** this study,a novel way was provided for the green production of corn cob *** DES was used to extract xylan from corn cob which was used as the raw *** effects of solid-liquid ratio,reaction time,reaction temperature and water content of DES on the extraction rate of corn cob xylan were investigated by the single factor ***,the orthogonal test was designed to optimize the xylan extraction *** structure of corn cob xylan was analyzed and *** results showed that the optimum extraction conditions of corn cob xylan were as follows:the ratio of corn cob to DES was 1:15(g:mL),the extraction time was 3 h,the extraction temperature was 60℃,and the water content of DES was 70%.Under these conditions,the extraction rate of xylan was 16.46%.The extracted corn cob xylan was distinctive triple helix of polysaccharide,which was similar to the structure of commercially available *** was effectively and workably extracted from corn

A bacterial protein Rhp-PSP inhibits plant viral proliferation through endoribonuclease activity

Plant virus causes massive crop losses ***,there is currently no effective measure to control plant viral ***,we identify an antiviral protein Rhp-PSP,produced by the bacterial Rhodopseudomonas palustris strain *** this study,we discover that the antiviral activity of Rhp-PSP relies on its endoribonuclease *** the arginine(R)residue at position 129 onto alanine(A)abolishs its endoribonuclease activity on coat protein(CP)RNA of tobacco mosaic virus(TMV),consequentially,compromises the antiviral activity of *** investigation demonstrates that,the mutant Rhp-PSP^(R129A)is unable to form the homotrimer as the wild type,indicating the importance of quaternary junction for the endoribonuclease *** of Rhp-PSP in Nicotiana benthamiana significantly enhances the resistance against TMV of seedlings,while expression of Rhp-PSP^(R129A)did not,confirming that endoribonuclease activity is responsible for the antiviral activity of *** addition,foliar spray of Rhp-PSP solution on tomato and pepper plants significantly reduces the disease index of viral diseases,indicating that Rhp-PSP shows potential to develop antiviral agent in practice.

OsbZIP01 Affects Plant Growth and Development by Regulating OsSD1 in Rice

As the‘Green Revolution’gene,SD1(encoding GA20ox2),has been widely applied to improve yield in rice ***,research on its transcriptional regulation is ***,we identified a transcription factor OsbZIP01,which can suppress the expression of SD1 and regulate gibberellin(GA)biosynthesis in *** mutants of OsbZIP01 exhibited increased plant height,while the overexpression lines showed a semi-dwarf phenotype and diminished germination ***,the semi-dwarf phenotype of OE-bZIP01,was caused by the reduced internode length,which was accompanied by a thin stem *** predominant expression of OsbZIP01 was observed in leaves and ***01 protein was localized in the nucleus and showed transcriptional repression *** addition,OsbZIP01 could directly bind to the promoter of the OsSD1 gene,and inhibit its *** semi-dwarf phenotype of OE-bZIP01 could be rescued by exogenous GA_(3).Meanwhile,the bzip01 sd1 double mutant showed a shorter shoot length compared with the wild type,indicating that OsbZIP01 regulated plant growth mainly through the GA biosynthesis ***,OsbZIP01 negatively regulates GA biosynthesis by restraining SD1 transcription,thereby affecting plant growth and development.

The development of effective and sustainable solutions for pleiotropic water purification becomes urgent and *** Fenton-like catalysts for activation of peroxymonosulfate(PMS)to purify organic wastewater show great *** this work,by tuning metal loading with an in-situ polydopamine coating strategy,oxygen vacancy-enriched Co_(3)O_(4) loading on N-doped carbon nanotubes(CNTs)were constructed to enhance PMS activation efficiency for pollutants ***,the obtained modified CNTs afford a well-developed N-containing network structure,which is further endowed with abundant Co(Ⅱ)/Co(Ⅲ)redox cycles and significant metal-carbon *** particular,the surface N doping in CNTs might induce the oriented enrichment of pollutants around the catalyst,which reduces the migration distance and correspondingly improves the utilization of reactive oxidative *** electron transfer efficiency of the catalyst can be further improved by incorporating oxygen vacancy-enriched Co_(3)O_(4).The performance results show that the optimal NC/Co-1 could mineralize 20×10^(-6)of bisphenol A(BPA)by almost 98%in 8 min.A low reaction activation energy(26.05 kJ·mol^(-1))in BPA degradation was demonstrated by the NC/*** importantly,NC/Co-1 can inherit excellent degradation performance towards oxytetracycline,2,4-dichlorophenol,and tetracycline,showing wide practical *** addition,by virtue of the photothermal conversion property,NC/Co-1 achieves an additive function for interfacial solar water evaporation(1.84 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1),112.51%),showing impressive potential for clean water recovery under complicated environmental pollution conditions.
