Close-range hyperspectral images are a promising source of information in plant biology,in particular,for in vivo study of physiological *** this study,we investigate how data fusion can improve the detection of leaf elements by combining pixel reflectance and morphological *** detection of image regions associated to the leaf structures is the first step toward quantitative analysis on the physical effects that genetic manipulation,disease infections,and environmental conditions have in *** tested our fusion approach on Musa acuminata (banana) leaf images and compared its discriminant capability to similar techniques used in remote *** results demonstrate the efficiency of our fusion approach,with significant improvements over some conventional methods.

Surface water methane （CH4） and nitrous oxide （N20） concentrations and fluxes were investigated in two subtropical coastal embayments （Bramble Bay and Deception Bay, which are part of the greater Moreton Bay, Australia）. Measurements were done at 23 stations in seven campaigns covering different seasons during 2010-2012. Water-air fluxes were estimated using the Thin Boundary Layer approach with a combination of wind and currents-based models for the estimation of the gas transfer velocities. The two bays were strong sources of both CH4 and N2O with no significant differences in the degree of saturation of both gases between them during all measurement campaigns. Both CH4 and N2O concentrations had strong temporal but minimal spatial variability in both bays. During the seven seasons, CH4 varied between 500% and 4000% saturation while N2O varied between 128 and 255% in the two bays. Average seasonal CH4 fluxes for the two bays varied between 0.5 ± 0.2 and 6.0 ± 1.5 mg CH4/（m^***） while N20 varied between 0.4 ± 0.1 and 1.6 ± 0.6 mg N2O/（m^2-day）. Weighted emissions （t CO2-e） were 63%-90% N2O dominated implying that a reduction in N2O inputs and/or nitrogen availability in the bays may significantly reduce the bays＇ greenhouse gas （GHG） budget. Emissions data for tropical and subtropical systems is still scarce. This work found subtropical bays to be significant aquatic sources of both CH4 and N2O and puts the estimated fluxes into the global context with measurements done from other climatic regions.

Inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) include a broad spectrum of defects of various gene products that affect interme-diary metabolism in the body. Studying the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of those inherited disorder, systematically summarizing the disease phenotype and natural history, providing diagnostic rationale and methodology and treatment strategy comprise the context of human biochemical genetics. This session focused on: (1) manifestations of representative metabolic disorders; (2) the emergent technology and application of newborn screening of metabolic disorders using tandem mass spec-trometry; (3) principles of managing IEM; (4) the concept of carrier testing aiming prevention. Early detection of patients with IEM allows early intervention and more options for treatment.

A seven-month old female presented with left tibial hemimelia(or congenital tibial aplasia; Weber type VIIb, Jones et al type 1a), seven-toed preaxial polydactyly, and severe club foot(congenital talipes equinovarus). Definitive amputation surgery disarticulated the lower limb at the knee. This case report describes the anatomical findings of a systematic post-amputation examination of the lower limb's superficial dissection, X-ray s, and computed to mography (CT) scans. From the X-rays and CT scans, we found curved and overlapping preaxial supernumerary toes, hypoplastic first metatarsal, lack of middle and distal phalanges in one supernumerary toe, three tarsal bones, hypoplastic middle phalanx and no distal phalanx for fourth toe, andno middle or distal phalanges for fifth toe. The fibula articulated with the anteromedial calcaneus and the tibia was completely absent. We identified numerous muscles and nerves in the superficial dissection that are described in the results section of the case report. Due to the rarity of this combination of anatomical findings, descriptions of such cases are very infrequent in the literature.

The numerical solution of the harmonic heat map flow problems with blowup in finite or infinite time is considered using an adaptive moving mesh method.A properly chosen monitor function is derived so that the moving mesh method can be used to simulate blowup and produce accurate blowup profiles which agree with formal asymptotic ***,the moving mesh method has finite time blowup when the underlying continuous problem *** situations where the continuous problem has infinite time blowup,the moving mesh method exhibits finite time blowup with a blowup time tending to infinity as the number of mesh points *** inadequacy of a uniform mesh solution is clearly demonstrated.

Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)incidence has been increasing steadily,most dramatically in the Western developed *** often includes lifelong immunosuppressive therapy and *** is a critical need to reduce the burden of IBD and to discover medical therapies with better efficacy and fewer potential *** of treatments originally studied in other diseases with similar pathogenesis is less costly and time intensive than de novo drug *** study used a treatment repurposing methodology,the literature-related discovery and innovation(LrDI)text mining system,to identify potential treatments(developed for non-IBD diseases)with sufficient promise for extrapolation to treatment of *** searching for desirable patterns of twenty key biomarkers relevant to IBD(e.g.,inflammation,reactive oxygen species,autophagy,barrier function),the LrDI-based query retrieved approximately 9500 records from *** most recent 350 records were further analyzed for *** 18%(64/350)met the criteria for discovery(not previously studied in IBD human or animal models)and relevance for application to IBD *** of the treatments were compounds derived from herbal remedies,and the majority of treatments were being studied in cancer,diabetes,and central nervous system disease,such as depression and *** further validation of the search strategy,the query identified ten treatments that have just recently begun testing in IBD models in the last three ***-related discovery and innovation text mining contains a unique search strategy with tremendous potential to identify treatments for repurposing.A more comprehensive query with additional key biomarkers would have retrieved many thousands more records,further increasing the yield of IBD treatment repurposing discovery.
