China has been committed to achieving carbon neutrality by ***’s pledge of carbon neutrality will play an essential role in galvanising global climate action,which has been largely deferred by the Covid-19 ***’s carbon neutrality could reduce global warming by approximately 0.2–0.3°C and save around 1.8 million people from premature death due to air *** with domestic benefits,China’s pledge of carbon neutrality is a“game-changer”for global climate action and can inspire other large carbon emitters to contribute actively to mitigate carbon emissions,particularly countries along the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)*** order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060,it is necessary to decarbonise all sectors in China,including energy,industry,transportation,construction,and ***,this transition will be very challenging,because major technological breakthroughs and large-scale investments are *** policies and implementation plans are essential,including sustainable demand,decarbonizing electricity,electrification,fuel switching,and negative *** particular,if China can peak carbon emissions earlier,it can lower the costs of the carbon neutral transition and make it easier to do so over a longer time ***’s pledge of carbon neutrality by 2060 and recent pledges at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties(COP26)are significant contributions and critical steps for global climate ***,countries worldwide need to achieve carbon neutrality to keep the global temperature from growing beyond the level that will cause catastrophic damages globally.

The genus Amphorotia was established by Williams and Reid(2006)to accommodate a group of diatoms formerly allocated to Eunotia *** new genus was shown to display a distinct biogeographical distribution,from boreal lakes to subtropical coastal regions,but all located around the Pacific *** increase the knowledge of this genus,especially in China,a taxonomic investigation of Amphorotia in the Pearl River delta area was *** than 700 sediment samples from 8 boreholes collected by Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey during the last decade were *** were extracted from unconsolidated sediments using a special concentration *** data derived from both light(LM)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)are used to characterize the *** on these observations,6 species(Amphorotia asiatica,***,***,***,***,and ***.)are recognized and their descriptions are ***,we provide an emended description of Amphorotia curvata Williams&Reid,and establish its *** is similar to the Siberian taxon Amphorotia lacusbaikali(Skvortzov)Williams&Reid when observed with LM,but can be distinguished by ultrastructural details observed with *** burial depths of these species are about 24～33 m,indicating their occurrences in this region spanned only a very short period,around 9 ka *** to the AMS 14C dating data.

Subduction-Modified Subcontinental Mantle in South China: Trace Element and Isotope Evidence in Basalts from Hainan Island

Cenozoc lavas from Hainan Island, bouth China, comprise quartz tholeiite. olivinethoeiite, alkali basalt, and basanite and form a continuous, thoeiite-dominated, comopitionalspectrum. Highly incompatible elements and their relationships with isotope in these lavas areshown to be useful in evaluating mantle-source composition, whereas modeling suggests that ra-tios of elements with bulk partition coefficients significantly larger than those of Nb and Ta maybe sensitive to patial melting. Th/Ta and La/Nb ratios of alkali basalts are lower than those ofthoeiites, and they are all fower than tbe of the primitive mantle. These ratios correlate posi-tively with 207Pb/204Pb and 87Sr/86Sr ratios. Such relatioships can be explained by mixing ofdepleted and enriched source componentS. A depleted component is indicated by alkali basaltcompositions and is similar to some depleted OIB (PREMA). The enriched component, similarto sediment compositios, is indicated by tholeiites with high LILE/HFSE, 207Pb/204Pb, and87/86Sr *** general, basalts from Hainan and the South China Basin (SCB) share common geo-chemical charcters, e.g. high Rb/Sr, Th/Ta, 207Pb/206Pb, and low Ba/Th ratios. Such ageochemical trend is comparable to that of EMII-type OIB and best explained as the result ofsubduction. Occurrence of these charcteristics in both continennd Hainan basalts and SCBseamount basalts indicates the presence of a South China geochemical domain that exists in themantle region below the lithosphere.
