The growth of 3D construction printing needs appropriate integration into the planning and execution phases of building *** this aim,the Architecture,Engineering,and Construction sector(AEC)has been increasingly adopting building information modeling(bIM)systems to synchronize design and construction *** study proposes a technical workflow to manage 3D construction printing into bIM models,evaluating various procedures according to construction element *** on mature software platforms,the research details the data transfer process using a case study of a single-story *** case delves into design procedures for constructing walls of varied shapes,adjustments in width,joints,openings,textures,fillings,and the insertion of reinforcements and services while also discussing requirements of other building *** steps for managing design information and controlling printing machines are *** study’s outcome presents a comprehensive information flow,encompassing model segmentation,geometric data transfer,adjustments of details,and the generation of printing ***,it is offered a discussion that underlines the importance of a synergistic digital information flow that merges both design and execution phases,promoting construction efficiency and the embrace of innovative *** contribution of the paper focuses on technical design strategies for 3D construction printing,but also on suggesting an integrated process.

Radar Absorbing Materials(RAM)are a class of composites that can attenuate incident electromagnetic waves to avoid radar *** carbon allotropes that have the potential to be used as RAM are either carbon nano-tubes(CNTs),graphene,carbon black(Cb)and ultimately,sustainable porous carbon(SPC).Here,black wattle bark waste(following tannin extraction)was used as a sustainable source to produce SPC made from biomass *** was characterized and used as aﬁller for a silicone rubber matrix to produce aﬂexible *** elec-tromagnetic performance of this composite was compared with composites made with commercial Cb and CNT through reﬂection loss(RL),where-10 db is equivalent to 90%of *** composites were evaluated in single-layer,double-layer,and as radar absorbing structures(RAS)with the aim of improving their effective absorption bandwidth(EAb)performances and a reduction in *** CNT composite presented a RL of-26.85 db at 10.89 GHz and an EAb of 2.6 GHz with a 1.9 mm thickness,while the double-layer structures using CNT and SPC provided a RL of-19.74 db at 10.75 GHz and an EAb of 2.51 ***,the double-layer structures are~42%cheaper than the composite using only CNT since less material is ***,the largest EAb was achieved with a RAS using SPC,reaching~2.8 GHz and a RL of-49.09 db at 10.4 ***,SPC made of black wattle bark waste can be a competitive,alternative material for use as RAM and RAS since it is cheaper,sustainable,and suitable for daily life uses such as absorbers for anechoic chambers,sensors,and elec-tromagnetic interference shields for electronics,wallets,vehicles,and others.

background:Exercise training promotes brain plasticity and is associated with protection against cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease(AD).These beneficial effects may be partly mediated by blood-borne *** we used an in vitro model of AD to investigate effects of blood plasma from exercise-trained donors on neuronal viability,and an in vivo rat model of AD to test whether such plasma impacts cognitive function,amyloid pathology,and ***:Mouse hippocampal neuronal cells were exposed to AD-like stress using amyloid-βand treated with plasma collected from human male donors 3 h after a single bout of high-intensity *** in vivo studies,blood was collected from exercise-trained young male Wistar rats(high-intensity intervals 5 days/week for 6 weeks).Transgenic AD rats(McGill-R-Thyl-APP)were inj ected 5 times/fortnight for 6 weeks at2 months or 5 months of age with either(a)plasma from the exercise-trained rats,(b)plasma from sedentary rats,or(c)*** function,amyloid plaque pathology,and neurogenesis were *** plasma used for the treatment was analyzed for 23 ***:Plasma from exercised donors enhanced cell viability by 44.1%(p=0.032)and reduced atrophy by 50.0%(pbut did increase hippocampal neurogenesis by~3 fold,regardless of pathological stage,when compared to saline-treated *** of 7 cytokines were significantly reduced in exercised plasma compared to sedentary ***:Our proof-of-concept study demonstrates that plasma from exercise-trained donors can protect neuronal cells in culture and promote adult hippocampal neurogenesis in the AD rat *** effect may be partly due to reduced pro-inflammatory signaling molecules in exercised plasma.

Mathematical simulation of radial heat transfer in packed beds by pseudohomogeneous modeling

Uniform flow regime and constant effective thermal conductivity inside packed beds are commonly accepted in the evaluation of the fluid dynamics and heat transfer in such systems. However, several authors have confirmed the presence of an oscillatory velocity profile caused by the effective contribu~ tion of porosity profile in the fluid dynamic behavior of packed beds, which directly influences the heat transfer inside the beds. This paper describes the application of a pseudo-homogeneous mathematical model for describing heat transfer in packed beds with oscillatory profiles of velocity and porosity, using a radius-dependent model for effective thermal conductivity kr. Several temperature profiles were obtained in a packed bed system with thermal source located on the wall. The simulated temperature and effective thermal conductivity obtained from simulations were compared with experimental data and calculation from a model based on uniform kr fitting. The results indicate that the proposed mathematical modeling was capable of better reDresenting the heat transfer in the packed bed.

Interfacial Strategies for Smart Slippery Surfaces

The problem of contact line pinning on surfaces is pervasive and contributes to problems from ring stains to ice *** we provide a single conceptual framework for interfacial strategies encompassing five strategies for modifying the solid-liquid interface to remove pinning and increase droplet *** biomimetic strategies are included,(i)reducing the liquid-solid interfacial area inspired by the Lotus effect,(ii)converting the liquid-solid contact to a solid-solid contact by the formation of a liquid marble inspired by how galling aphids remove honeydew,and(iii)converting the liquid-solid interface to a liquid-lubricant contact by the use of a lubricant impregnated surface inspired by the Nepenthes Pitcher *** further strategies are,(iv)converting the liquid-solid contact to a liquid-vapor contact by using the Leidenfrost effect,and(v)converting the contact to a liquid-liquid-like contact using slippery omniphobic covalent attachment of a liquid-like coating(SOCAL).Using these approaches,we explain how surfaces can be designed to have smart functionality whilst retaining the mobility of contact lines and ***,we show how droplets can evaporate at constant contact angle,be positioned using a Cheerios effect,transported by boundary reconfiguration in an energy invariant manner,and drive the rotation of solid components in a Leidenfrost heat *** conceptual framework enables the rationale design of surfaces which are slippery to liquids and is relevant to a diverse range of applications.

Emerging and re-emerging human infectious diseases:A systematic review of the role of wild animals with a focus on public health impact

Infectious diseases continue to impose unpredictable burdens on global health and economies, a subject that requires constant research and updates. In this sense, the objective of the present article was to review studies on the role of wild animals as reservoirs and/or dispersers of etiological agents of human infectious diseases in order to compile data on the main wild animals and etiological agents involved in zoonotic outbreaks. A systematic review was carried out using PRISMA guidelines, using the PubMed, Scopus and SciELO platforms as data banks. The descriptors used were "zoonosis", "human infectious diseases" and "wild animals". The results show that wild animals(mainly bats, birds and primates) play an important role in the dissemination of etiological agents(mainly viruses, as a new coronavirus called 2019 Novel Coronavirus) in extensive geographic regions. Moreover, these wild animal organisms can act as the site for essential biotic synergy among several pathogenic microorganisms, promoting a higher rate of adaptation, mutation and even genetic recombination, with consequent stimulation of new strains and subtypes, inducing new infectious agents with unknown virulent potential. In conclusion, the monitoring of these diseases and adequate preparation for possible epidemics and pandemics are fundamental conditions for the mitigation of their future impact. The zoonotic threat of these etiological agents and the impact on public health can be enormous as shown by the ongoing epidemic of 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV) infections.
