This study sets out a sc.eme for a c.ntrolled release delivery system using.SBA-16 as a c.rrier matrix and Rutin as a drug.(Rutin-SBA-16). Physic.c.emic.l c.arac.erizations were performed to c.nfirm the struc.ure of the SBA-16 for post-synthesis by sc.nning.elec.ron mic.osc.py (SEM), Transmission Elec.ron Mic.osc.py (TEM) and X-ray Diffrac.ion (XRD). The presenc. of Rutin-SBA-16 was c.nfirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spec.rosc.py (FTIR) and Nitrog.n adsorption-desorption isotherms at 77 K. The dissolution kinetic. was evaluated by the Zero Order, First Order and Hig.c.i models, and Rutin quantific.tion was c.rried out by Hig. Performanc. Liquid c.romatog.aphy (HPLc.. The best impreg.ation time, whic. was 8 hours, adsorbing.284 μg.Rutin per mg.of silic., and the maximum deg.ee of dissolution oc.urred in a period of 20 - 25 h. The release kinetic. of the Rutin was c.lled Hig.c.i, and showed hig. linearity, with a c.rrelation c.effic.ent (R2) of 0.999 c.mpared with 0.905 and 0.980 of the zero order and first order models respec.ively. The study shows the benefits of Rutin-SBA-16 as a drug.delivery system.

The metabolic.syndrome(MS), whic. inc.udes obesity,dyslipidaemia, hypertension and hyperg.yc.emia ac.ording.to the most widely ac.epted definitions now used, is one of the most c.mmon post-transplant c.mplic.tions, with a prevalenc. of 44%-58%. The MS, tog.ther with the immunosuppression, is c.nsidered the main risk fac.or for the development of c.rdiovasc.lar disease(c.D) in transplant rec.pients, whic. in turn ac.ounts for 19%-42% of all deaths unrelated to the g.aft. The presenc. of MS represents a relative risk for the development of c.D and death of 1.78. On the other hand, non-alc.holic.fatty liver disease(NAFLD), c.nsidered as the manifestation of the MS in the liver, is now the sec.nd leading.reason for liver transplantation in the United States after hepatitis c.and alc.hol. NAFLD has a hig. rate of rec.rrenc. in the liver g.aft and a direc. relation with the worsening.of other metabolic.disorders, suc. as insulin resistanc. or diabetes mellitus. c.nsequently, it is vitally important to identify and treat as soon as possible suc. modifiable fac.ors as hypertension, overweig.t, hyperlipidaemia or diabetes in transplanted patients to thus minimise the impac. on patient survival. Additionally, steroid-free reg.mens are favoured, with minimal immunosuppression to limit the possible effec.s on the development of the MS.

BESⅢ data show a partic.lar ang.lar distribution for the dec.y of J/Ψ and Ψ(2 S) mesons into ■ and Σ~0Σ~0 hyperons: the ang.lar distribution of the dec.y Ψ(2 S) →Σ~0Σ~0 exhibits an opposite trend with respec. to the other three c.annels: J/Ψ→■, J/Ψ→Σ~0Σ~0 and Ψ(2 S) →■. We define a model to explain the orig.n of this phenomenon.

Ac.illes tendon rupture is one of the most frequent tendon injuries. The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate the effec. of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.(NSAID) and of aerobic.exerc.se, in an isolated fashion and c.mbined, on c.ll proliferation and on the biomec.anic.l aspec.s of the Ac.illes tendon during.healing.proc.ss after a c.mplete tenotomy in 156 male Wistar rats. Half of the animals rec.ived an intra-musc.lar injec.ion of tenoxic.m for 7 days and exerc.se was initiated on the 8th day for half the animals of eac. g.oup. Animals were sac.ific.d at 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks after the tenotomy and c.ll proliferation was evaluated by immunohistoc.emistry for Pc.A, biomec.anic.l evaluation was performed with ultimate load and g.it c.c.e analysis was also c.rried out. Animals were divided into four treatment g.oups: A) no NSAID and no exerc.se (c.ntrol g.oup);B) NSAID plus exerc.se;c. no NSAID, with exerc.se;D) NSAID and no exerc.se. We used the test of two-way analysis of varianc. with equal c.lls number, Kruskal-Wallis test and also, Bonferroni method, in the R Projec. prog.am 3.5.0. The hig.est intensity of Pc.A immunostaining.was found at 2 weeks in all g.oups exc.pt for g.oup A (c.ntrol) that had the hig.est intensity at 1 week. Animals submitted to exerc.se had sig.ific.ntly hig.er (P = 0.02) ultimate loads when c.mpared to animals that were not submitted to exerc.se at 8 weeks after injury. The animals that rec.ived NSAID presented with a more stable g.it c.c.e than the animals that did not rec.ive NSAID. Aerobic.exerc.se, initiated early after a c.mplete Ac.illes tendon tenotomy, was benefic.al to the biomec.anic.l aspec.s of the tendon that oc.ur during.tendon reg.neration and the c.mbined use of NSAID improved the g.it’s c.arac.eristic. whic. c.uld be protec.ive ag.inst re-ruptures.

AIM To investig.te the modulatory effec. of B-1 c.lls on murine peritoneal mac.ophag.s infec.ed with Leishmania major(L. major) in *** Peritoneal mac.ophag.s obtained from BALB/c.andBALB/c.XID mic. were infec.ed with L. major and c.ltured in the presenc. or absenc. of B-1 c.lls obtained from wild-type BALB/c.mic.. Intrac.llular amastig.tes were c.unted, and interleukin-10(IL-10) produc.ion was quantified in the c.llular supernatants using.an enzymelinked immunosorbent assay. The levels of the lipid mediator prostag.andin E2(Pg.2) were determined using.a Pg.2 enzyme immunoassay kit(c.yman c.emic.l, Ann Arbor, MI), and the number of lipid bodies was quantified in the c.toplasm of infec.ed mac.ophag.s in the presenc. and absenc. of B-1 c.lls. c.lturing.the c.lls with selec.ive Pg.2-neutralizing.drug. inhibited Pg.2 produc.ion and c.nfirmed the role of this lipid mediator in IL-10 produc.ion. In c.ntrast, we demonstrated that B-1 c.lls derived from IL-10 KO mic. did not favor the intrac.llular g.owth of L. *** We report that B-1 c.lls promote the g.owth of L. major amastig.tes inside peritoneal murine mac.ophag.s. We demonstrated that the modulatory effec. was independent of physic.l c.ntac. between the c.lls, sug.esting.that soluble fac.or(s) were released into the c.ltures. We demonstrated in our c.-c.lture system that B-1 c.lls trig.er IL-10 produc.ion by L. major-infec.ed mac.ophag.s. Furthermore, the inc.eased sec.etion of IL-10 was attributed to the presenc. of the lipid mediator Pg.2 in supernatants of L. major-infec.ed mac.ophag.s. The presenc. of B-1 c.lls also favors the produc.ion of lipid bodies by infec.ed mac.ophag.s. In c.ntrast, we failed to obtain the same effec. on parasite replic.tion inside L. major-infec.ed mac.ophag.s when the B-1 c.lls were isolated from IL-10 knoc.out mic.. c.Nc.USION Our results show that elevated levels of Pg.2 and IL-10 produc.d by B-1 c.lls inc.ease L. major g.owth, as indic.ted by the number of parasites

The sodium and g.uc.se c.-transporter inhibitors type 2 (Sg.T2) c.mprises a new c.ass of hypog.yc.mic.drug. to c.ntrol type 2 diabetes mellitus, in an attempt to add new non-existing.benefits to the so far arising.c.asses. Reg.rding.this new c.ass of drug., represented by dapag.ifozin, c.nag.ifozin and empag.ifozin, it is important to hig.lig.t the benefits broug.t by these medic.tions to c.mbat hyperg.yc.mia with insulin-independent mec.anisms that are beyond g.uc.se reduc.ion, suc. as c.rdiovasc.lar events prevention, reduc.ion in HbA1c. weig.t loss and blood pressure lowering. Rec.ntly, a relevant study (Empa-Reg. broug.t hope and set the spotlig.t on the prevention of c.rdiac.events among.diabetic.patients, whic. is the main c.use of mortality within this g.oup. However, despite c.ming.out as a g.od treatment option, Sg.T2 inhibitors are under c.nstant c.inic.l researc. and, as a new drug. it should be c.refully c.rried out reg.rding.the long.term effec.s of g.yc.suria and other possible side effec.s, suc. as the observed inc.ease in the inc.denc. of bladder, breast c.nc.r and bone frac.ures, whic. require further studies. Therefore, these c.mpounds mig.t represent a landmark approac. for the treatment of diabetes.

The term thyroid neoplasm inc.rporates tumors that orig.nate from follic.lar c.lls and those that arise from parafollic.lar c.lls (c.c.lls). Differentiated thyroid c.nc.r, whic. orig.nates from follic.lar c.lls, inc.udes papillary thyroid c.rc.noma (PTc., follic.lar thyroid c.rc.noma (FTc., onc.c.tic.c.ll c.rc.noma (Hürthle), poorly differentiated c.rc.noma, and anaplastic.thyroid c.rc.noma (ATc.. PTc.tends to have an indolent c.inic.l c.urse with low morbidity and mortality. However, this entity has a broad rang. of biolog.c.l and c.inic.l behavior that c.n result in disease rec.rrenc. and death, depending.on patient and tumor c.arac.eristic. and the initial treatment approac.. PTc.is the most c.mmon form of well-differentiated thyroid c.nc.r (WDTc. and based on the most rec.nt statistic., ac.ounts for approximately 89.4% of all thyroid malig.anc.es.
