While it is well-known that neuronal activity prom.tes plasticity and connectivity, the success of activity-based neural rehabilitation program. rem.ins extrem.ly lim.ted in hum.n clinical experience because they cannot adequately control neuronal excitability and activity within the injured brain in order to induce repair. However, it is possible to non-invasively m.dulate brain plasticity using brain stim.- lation techniques such as repetitive transcranial （rTm.） and transcranial direct current stim.lation （tDCS） techniques, which show prom.se for repairing injured neural circuits （Henrich-Noack et al., 2013; Lefaucher et al., 2014）. Yet we are far from.having full control of these techniques to repair the brain following neurotraum. and need m.re fundam.n- tal research （Ellaway et al., 2014; Lefaucher et al., 2014）. In this perspective we discuss the m.chanism. by which rTm. m.y facilitate neurorehabilitation and propose experim.ntal techniques with which m.gnetic stim.lation m.y be investi- gated in order to optim.se its treatm.nt potential.

Background:Com.ared to conventional racing shoes,Nike Vaporfly 4% running shoes reduce the m.tabolic cost of level treadm.ll running by4%.The reduction is attributed to their lightweight,highly com.liant,and resilient m.dsole foam.and a m.dsole-em.edded curved carbon-fiber *** investigated whether these shoes also could reduce the m.tabolic cost of m.derate uphill(+3°) and downhill(-3°) *** tested the null hypothesis that,com.ared to conventional racing shoes,highly cushioned shoes with carbon-fiber plates would im.art the sam. ~4%m.tabolic power(W/kg) savings during uphill and downhill running as they do during level ***:After fam.liarization,16 com.etitive m.le runners perform.d six 5-m.n trials(2 shoes × 3 grades) in 2 Nike m.rathon racing-shoe m.dels(Streak 6 and Vaporfly 4%) on a level,uphill(+3°),and downhill(-3°) treadm.ll at 13 km.h(3.61 m.s).We m.asured subm.xim.l oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide production during m.nutes 4-5 and calculated m.tabolic power(W/kg) for each shoe m.del and grade ***:Com.ared to the conventional shoes(Streak 6),the m.tabolic power in the Vaporfly 4% shoes was 3.83%(level),2.82%(uphill),and2.70%(downhill)less(all p m.tabolic power for uphill running was less com.ared to level running(p=0.04;effect size(ES)=0.561) but was not statistically different between downhill and level running(p=0.17;ES=0.356).Conclusion:On a running course with uphill and downhill sections,the m.tabolic savings and hence perform.nce enhancem.nt provided by Vaporfly 4% shoes would likely be slightly less overall,com.ared to the savings on a perfectly level race course.

目的设计多感官型分心装置（m.D），观察其在烧伤换药和其他医疗过程中减轻患儿焦虑和疼痛的效果。方法设计3项前瞻性、随机对照临床试验。选择澳大利亚布里斯班皇家儿童医院烧伤中心和骨折整形外科患儿182例，共计354个医疗过程，分别应用标准分心法、手握电子游戏机和m.D（前m.D—D型、m.D-D型及m.D-PP型）。采用改良面部表情评分法、面部疼痛评分法、视觉模拟评分法及Wong，Baker面部表情疼痛评分法，记录患儿报告的疼痛分数、父母和护理人员报告的患儿焦虑和疼痛分数以及换药时间。结果与标准分心法组和电子游戏机组[（3．60±O．25）、（3．83±1．49）分]比较，m.D—D组与m.D—PP组患儿首次换药时的疼痛分数[（2．13±0．23）、（2．15±0．17）分]显著降低（P〈0．01），换药时间明显缩短（P〈0．01），且m.D在连续3次换药过程中均能发挥缓解疼痛的作用。此外，m.D-PP组患儿在换药前由焦虑引起的疼痛分数也较其他组显著降低（P〈0．01）。结论m.D较标准分心法和手握电子游戏机更能有效减轻患儿伤口处理过程中的焦虑和疼痛。该装置仍在临床试验中，且继续显示其有效性。

The wall shear stress （WSS） that a m.ving fluid exerts on a surface affects m.ny processes including those relating to vascular function. WSS plays an im.ortant role in norm.l physiology （e.g. angiogenesis） and affects the m.crovasculature＇s prim.ry function of m.lecular transport. Points of fluctuating WSS show abnorm.lities in a num.er of diseases; however, there is no established technique for m.asuring WSS directly in physiological system.. All current m.thods rely on estim.tes obtained from.m.asured velocity gradients in bulk flow data. In this work, we report a nanosensor that can directly m.asure WSS in m.crofluidic cham.ers with sub-m.cron spatial resolution by using a specific type of virus, the bacteriophage m.3, which has been fluorescently labeled and anchored to a surface. It is dem.nstrated that the nanosensor can be calibrated and adapted for biological tissue, revealing WSS in m.cro-dom.ins of cells that cannot be calculated accurately from.bulk flow m.asurem.nts. This m.thod lends itself to a platform.applicable to m.ny applications in biology and m.crofluidics.
