Abstract Despite im.ortant gains in hum.n rights, persons with disabilities -- and in particular wom.n and girls with disabilities -- continue to experience significant inequalities in the areas of sexual, reproductive, and parenting rights. Persons with disabilities are sterilized at alarm.ng rates; have decreased access to reproductive health care services and inform.tion; and experience denial of parenthood. Precipitating these inequities are substantial and instantiated stereotypes of persons with disabilities as either asexual or unable to engage in sexual or reproductive activities, and as incapable of perform.ng parental duties. The article begins with an overview of sexual, reproductive, and parenting rights regarding persons with disabilities. Because m.st form.l adjudications of these related rights have centered on the issue of sterilization, the article analyzes com.only presented rationales used to justify these procedures over tim. and across jurisdictions. Next, the article exam.nes the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the attendant obligations of States Parties regarding rights to personal integrity, access to reproductive health care services and inform.tion, parenting, and the exercise of legal capacity. Finally, the article highlights fundam.ntal and com.lex issues requiring future research and consideration.

Increasing production and disposal of coal fly ash （CFA） is a m.tter of serious environm.nt concern. However, CFA contains various beneficial m.tals and m.neral m.tters whose dem.nd is increasing in the industrialized world, while natural supplies are dim.nishing. Therefore, recovery of these potential resources from.CFA can be an alternative way to save m.neral resources, as well as to reduce the environm.ntal burden of CFA disposal. There are num.rous m.thods developed for the recovery of beneficial products from.CFA. Based on the US patents and journal literatures, the present review describes the recovery status and technologies of m.jor elem.nts such as Al, Si, Fe and Ti, and trace elem.nts such as V, Ga, Ge, Se, Li, m., U, Au, Ag, Pt groups and rare earth elem.nts （REEs） and other beneficial products such as m.gnetic m.terials, cenospheres, and unburned carbon from.CFA. It also highlights the recovery efficiency and drawbacks for their extraction, and suggests future research to develop satisfactory results in term. of selective recovery and purification.

Effect of salinity and acidity on bioleaching activity of m.sophilic and extrem.ly therm.philic bacteria

The effects of bacterial strain, salinity and pH on the bioleaching of a com.lex ore using m.sophilic and extrem.ly therm.philic bacteria were investigated and the statistical analysis of the results was perform.d using ERGUN’s test. The extrem. therm.philes were shown to display superior kinetics of dissolution of zinc com.ared with the m.sophiles as confirm.d by the statistical analysis. Bioleaching perform.nce of the extrem. therm.philes is found to im.rove in response to the increase in acidity (pH from.2.0 to 1.0) whilst the activity of the m.sophiles is adversely affected by decreasing pH. Statistical analysis of the bioleaching data indicates that the effect of pH is insignificant in the range of pH 1.0-1.2 for the extrem. therm.philes and pH 1.4-2.0 for the m.sophiles. Salinity is shown to have a suppressing effect on the m.sophiles. However, the extrem. therm.philes appear to be halophilic in character as they could operate efficiently under saline conditions (1%-4%Cl- (w/v)).

Dynam.c energy system.m.deling using hybrid physics-based and m.chinelearning encoder–decoder m.dels

Three m.del configurations are presented for m.lti-step tim. series predictions of the heat absorbed by thewater and steam.in a therm.l power plant. The m.dels predict over horizons of 2, 4, and 6 steps into thefuture, where each step is a 5-m.nute increm.nt. The evaluated m.dels are a pure m.chine learning m.del, anovel hybrid m.chine learning and physics-based m.del, and the hybrid m.del with an incom.lete dataset. Thehybrid m.del deconstructs the m.chine learning into individual boiler heat absorption units: econom.zer, waterwall, superheater, and reheater. Each configuration uses a gated recurrent unit (GRU) or a GRU-based encoder–decoder as the deep learning architecture. m.an squared error is used to evaluate the m.dels com.ared totarget values. The encoder–decoder architecture is over 11% m.re accurate than the GRU only m.dels. Thehybrid m.del with the incom.lete dataset highlights the im.ortance of the m.nipulated variables to the *** hybrid m.del, com.ared to the pure m.chine learning m.del, is over 10% m.re accurate on averageover 20 iterations of each m.del. Autom.tic differentiation is applied to the hybrid m.del to perform.a localsensitivity analysis to identify the m.st im.actful of the 72 m.nipulated variables on the heat absorbed in theboiler. The m.dels and sensitivity analyses are used in a discussion about optim.zing the therm.l power plant.

Two m.chanism. responsible for m.rine ecosystem.regim. shifts from.fish landings data off the West Coast of California (WCC)

This investigation focuses on two m.chanism. over the North Pacific connecting decadal regim. shifts to regional ecosystem.im.acts. The physical conditions show the im.acts of the atm.spheric surface wind stress and the sea surface tem.erature (SST) physical conditions on the fish landings along the west coast of California (WCC) from.1928-2008. The two m.chanism. are identified by the two types of wind stress (e.g. westerly-easterly;or cyclonic-anticyclonic) anom.ly over the central North Pacific which results in SST anom.lies in the WCC. In both m.chanism.cases, the local warm.(cold) SST anom.ly leads to the num.er of fish species rising (falling) in the WCC region. In addition, the wind stress and SST anom.ly pattern over the North Pacific is closely related to the intensity of the regim. shifts as identified in the fish landings off the WCC.

Abrupt Clim.te Regim. Shifts, Their Potential Forcing and Fisheries Im.acts

The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether a logical chain of events can be established to explain the abrupt clim.tic regim. shift changes in the Pacific that link the atm.sphere to the ocean to fisheries im.acts. The investigation endeavors to identify synchronous abrupt changes in a series of data sets to establish the feasibility of abrupt of clim.te change often referred to as regim. shifts. The study begins by using biological (fish catch/stock) m.rkers to m.them.tically identify the dates of abrupt change. The dates are confirm.d by a literature search of param.ters that also show abrupt changes on the sam. dates. Using the biological date m.rkers of abrupt change, analyses are perform.d to dem.nstrate that the interactions between the atm.sphere, ocean, ecosystem. and fisheries are a plausible approach to explaining abrupt clim.te change and its im.acts.

Polyam.nes are sm.ll aliphatic am.nes found in alm.st all organism.,ranging from.bacteria to plants and *** m.st plants,putrescine,the m.tabolic precursor for longer polyam.nes,such as sperm.dine and sperm.ne,is produced from.arginine,with either agm.tine or ornithine as *** we show that Arabidopsis thaliana(Arabidopsis)arginine de-carboxylase 1(ADC1),one of the two known arginine decarboxylases in Arabidopsis,not only synthesizes agm.tine from.arginine,but also converts *** to *** analyses indicate that duplication and neofunctionalization of ADC1 and NATA1,the enzym.s that synthesize Nδ-acetylorm.thine in Arabidopsis,co-occur in a sm.ll num.er of related species in the *** ADC2,which is localized in the chloroplasts,ADC1 is in the endoplasm.c reticulum.together with NATA1,an indication that these two enzym.s have access to the sam. substrate ***,these results are con-sistent with a m.del whereby NATA1 and ADC1 to-gether provide a pathway for the synthesis of N-acetylputrescine in Arabidopsis.
