This paper aims to create visible light d.iven ternary photocatalysts using zinc oxid.(ZnO),cerium(IV)oxid.(CeO_(2)),and.carbon xerogel(CX) as constituent *** use of CeO_(2) is based.on the creation of d.rect-Z-scheme heterojunctions with the ZnO and.the consequent d.minishing of charge recombination,whereas the carbon xerogel inclusion is pred.cted.to minimize band.ap energy,d.crease electro n-hole reco mbination,and.boost specific surface *** re,the choice of the black-wattle tannin as a carbonaceous precursor was targeted.at the d.velopment of an environmentally friend.y and.afford.ble *** existence of the hexagonal phase of zinc oxid. and.cubic structure of the cerium(IV) oxid. in the ternary material was confirmed.by X-ray d.ffractometry and.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,with the latter also suggesting chemical bond.ng between the ZnO and.the CX d.e to the creation of zinc oxycarbid. *** inclusion of the carbon xerogel provokes a significant mod.fication in the morphology of the ternary material,resulting in an increased.surface area and.smaller particle *** CX/ZnO-CeO_(2) ternary composite obtains the highest photocatalytic efficiency among all the materials stud.ed.d.grad.ng 100% of 4-chlorophenol und.r simulated.sunlight and.68% und.r visible rad.ation,after 5 *** increased.photocatalytic activity can be attributed.to the formation of d.rect Z-scheme heterojunctions between the semicond.ctors,higher visible light response,and.higher specific surface area,as evid.nced.by the results obtained.by active rad.cal scavenging,chronoamperometry,d.ffuse reflectance spectroscopy,and.N_(2) ad.orption-d.sorption isotherms.

This paper d.scribes the effect of the composition of the oxid. films on the properties of electrod.s Ti/MxTiySnzO2 (M = Ir or Ru) prepared.by the polymeric precursor method. XRd.stud.es showed.that the anod.s are formed.by solid.solutions. The electrod.s containing IrO2 exhibit lower activity for the oxygen evolution reaction. The d.ping of the electrod. surface with SnO2 improves the catalytic properties of the anod.s. However, it should.be held.in appropriate compositions, because the change in the atomic ratio of this element shows a marked.effect on the stability of the oxid.s. Electrod. Ti/Ir0.2Ti0.3Sn0.5O2 has lower lifetime, i.e. 6 hours. The 20% d.crease in the stoichiometric amount of SnO2 increases the time to a value above 70 hours, as observed.for Ti/Ir0.3Ti0.4Sn0.3O2. Electrod. Ti/Ru0.3Ti0.4Sn0.3O2 shows lifetime of 11 hours;therefore IrO2 is more stable than RuO2 und.r the cond.tions investigated. These results suggest that electrod. Ti/Ir0.3Ti0.4Sn0.3O2 is promising for d.fferent applications, such as water electrolysis, capacitors and.organic electrosynthesis.

Objective: To evaluate the acaricid.l activity of the essential oil obtained.from roots of d.rris floribund.(d. floribund.)(Miq.) Benth, and.its main constituent nerolid.l against the Mexican mite Tetranychus mexicanus(T. mexicanus)(Mc Gregor).Method.: The essential oil from the roots of d. floribund. collected.in the Amazon region(Brazil) was obtained.by hyd.od.stillation. Its chemical composition was d.termined.by GC–MS analysis. The acaricid.l activities of this essential oil and.nerolid.l,were evaluated.by record.ng the number of d.ad.females(mortality) and.eggs(fertility).Results: The essential oil showed.sesquiterpenes as major volatile components. Nerolid.l, the main component, represented.68.5% of the total composition of the essential oil. d. floribund. essential oil and.nerolid.l showed.acaricid.l activity, with LC_(50) of9.61 mg/m L air and.9.2 mg/m L air, respectively, over a 72 h period. In ad.ition, both the essential oil and.nerolid.l significantly red.ced.the fecund.ty of T. ***: d.e to the economic importance of T. mexicanus and.the lack of new pesticid.s, our d.ta are very promising in the search for efficient and.safer acaricid.l prod.cts. Furthermore, this is the first report about the chemical composition and.bioactivity of the essential oil of the Amazon plant species d. floribund..

AIM： To evaluated.the therapeutic and.prophylactic effect of thalid.mid. on 2, 4, 6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid.（TNBS）-ind.ced.colitis. Thalid.mid. has been reported.to d.wnregulate the expression of tumor necrosis factor α （TNF-α）, IL-12, and.vascular end.thelial growth factor （VEGF）, hallmarks of intestinal inflammation in Crohn＇s d.sease （Cd.. METHOd.： Male Wistar rats were d.vid.d.in five groups of ten animals each. Four groups received.a rectal infusion of TNBS in ethanol. The first group was sacrificed.7 d.after colitis ind.ction. The second.and.third.groups received.either thalid.mid. or placebo by gavage and.were sacrificed.at 14 d. The fourth group received.thalid.mid. 6 h before TNBS ad.inistration, and.was sacrificed.7 d.after ind.ction. The fifth group acted.as the control group and.colitis was not ind.ced. Histological inflammatory scores of the colon were performed.and.lamina propria Cd.＋ T cells, macrophages, and.VEGF＋ cells were d.tected.by immunohistochemistry. TNF-α and.IL-12 were quantified.in the supernatant of organ cultures by ELISA. RESULTS： Significant red.ction in the inflammatory score and.in the percentage of VEGF＋ cells was observed.in the group treated.with thalid.mid. compared.with animals not treated.with thalid.mid.. Both TNF-α and.IL-12 levels were significantly red.ced.among TNBS ind.ced.colitis animals treated.with thalid.mid. compared.with animals that d.d.not receive thalid.mid.. TNF-α levels were also significantly red.ced.among the animals receiving thalid.mid. prophylaxis compared.with untreated.animals with TNBS-ind.ced.colitis. Intestinal levels of TNF-α and.IL-12 were significantly correlated.with the inflammatory score and.the number of VEGF＋ cells. CONCLUSION： Thalid.mid. significantly attenuates TNBS-ind.ced.colitis by inhibiting the intestinal prod.ction of TNF-α, IL-12, and.VEGF. This effect may support the use of thalid.mid. as an alternate approach in selected.patients with Cd.

Objective: To evaluate the trypanocid.l, leishmanicid.l and.cytotoxic activity of Eugenia jambolana(E. jambolana) and.Eugenia uniflora(E. uniflora) extracts and.***: The prod.cts were characterized.by LC–MS. Antiparasitic assays were performed.and.cytotoxicity was evaluated.in fibroblastos. In vitro assays were performed.using spectrophotometric evaluation. All assays were performed.in ***: The results showed.that the extracts and.the tannic fraction from E. jambolana inhibited.100% of the epimastigote lines. The ethanolic extract was the most efficient in all concentrations tested.against the three parasite strains. In the cytotoxicity assay the flavonoid.fraction showed.low toxicity. All E. uniflora samples showed.cytotoxicity at the highest concentration tested. but the extract showed.no toxic effect on the fibroblasts at the lowest concentration. The flavonoid.and.tannic fractions were more efficient against Leishmania braziliensis promastigotes compared.to the extract. However, the extracts and.the tannic fraction were more effective against Leishmania infantum strains. The effect on epimastigote cells was observed.at all concentrations tested. with all E. uniflora samples. However, the samples were more effective at the highest concentration, where there was inhibition in 100% of the Trypanosoma cruzi ***: The species E. jambolana and.E. uniflora presented.antiparasitic activity against all tested.parasite strains, ind.cating that these species can serve as an alternative therapy as they were efficient in the tests performed. The E. uniflora extract and.the E. jambolana flavonoid.fraction presented.a low cytotoxicity, opening the floor for new biological stud.es.
