Colonization of stomach by H pylori is followed by a marked infiltration of the mucosa with polymorphonuclear leukocytes, macrophages, and lymphocytes that very often remains asymptomatic, but in some circumstances can lead to the development of gastroduodenal ulceration, gastric carcinoma, and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. The molecular mechanisms by which H pylori triggers and maintains the local immune response are complex, but there is evidence that cytokines produced by both immune and non-immune cells contribute to amplify the ongoing inflammation. H pylori infection is associated with a marked mucosal induction of T helper (Th) type 1 and Th17-type cytokines that is governed by specific antigen-presenting cell-derived molecules, such as interleukin (IL)-12 and IL-23. In this paper, we will review the available data on the expression and role of IL-23 and IL-17 in H pylori- related gastritis.

CeO2-ZeO2 solid solutions are extensively used as oxygen storage promoters in the current automotive three-way catalysts. High thermal stability of the textural properties is one of the most important requirements for practical application since temperatures up to 1273 K are easily experienced by these materials under real working conditions. In the present paper, we investigated how hydrothermal treatments applied to cakes of doped and undoped ZrO2-rich CeO2-ZrO2 precursors might improve the thermal stability of the final CeO2-ZrO2 solid solution. A rationale was developed that allowed to correlate the morphology of the hydrothermaUy treated cake with the thermal stability at 1273 K of the final product, which did not depend on the composition of the mixed oxides.

In this work,functionalized carbon nanotubes(CNTs)using two polyamine polymers,polyethyleneimine(PEI)and polyamidoamine dendrimer(PAMAM),were investigated by thermal analysis in order to address preparation strategies to obtain low cytotoxic compounds with the ability to conjugate micro-RNAs and,at the same time,to transfect efficiently endothelial *** analysis(TGA)was coupled to chemometrics as a novel analytical strategy to characterize functionalized CNTs from different preparation *** particular,two starting materials were considered:very small CNTs and carboxylated CNTs(CNT-COOH)in order to examine the affinity with *** permitted to compare results from TGA and to investigate the effect of a number of factors affecting the synthesis of coated nanotubes including a different amount of involved polymer and the time required for the suspension for a satisfactory and reproducible preparation *** results demonstrated the effectiveness of TGA as a tool able to address synthesis of coated CNTs to be employed as efficient drug delivery vectors in biomedical applications.

Programmed death-ligand-1(PD-L1)plays a crucial role in the suppression of the antitumor immune response upon interaction with programmed cell death protein-1(PD-1)on cytotoxic T ***-L1 is constitutively expressed on antigen-presenting cells or tumor ***,PD-L1 has been detected by immunohistochemistry in a variety of tumors,including malignant pleural mesothelioma(MPM),in which it has emerged as a predictive biomarker for PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint blockers(ICBs).1,2 PD-L1 expression on tumor cells can be upregulated by several factors including the interferon gamma(IFN-γ)cytokine produced by tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(TILs).3 In MPM cells,it has been reported that IFN-γupregulates PD-L1 mRNA expression due to the activation of the interferon regulatory factor 1(IRF1)transcription factor,4 but no data have been shown regarding cell surface PD-L1 that is functionally relevant for its contact with PD-1-positive cells.
