Two-dimensional （2D） materials generally.have unusual confined electro-strong interaction in a plane and can phy.ical and chemical properties owing to the exhibit obvious anisotropy.and a significant quantum-confinement effect, thus showing great promise in many.fields. Some 2D materials, such as graphene and MXenes, have recently.exhibited extraordinary.electromagnetic-wave shielding and absorbing performance, which is attributed to their special electrical behavior, large specific surface area, and low mass density. Compared with traditional microwave attenuating materials, 2D materials have several obvious inherent advantages. First, similar to other nanomaterials, 2D materials have a very.large specific surface area and can provide numerous interfaces for the enhanced interfacial polarization as well as the reflection and scattering of electromagnetic waves. Second, 2D materials have a particular 2D morphology.with ultrasmall thick.ess, which is not only.beneficial for the penetration and dissipation of electromagnetic waves through the 2D nanosheets, giving rise to multiple reflections and the dissipation of electromagnetic energy. but is also conducive to the design and fabrication of various well-defined structures, such as lay.r-by.lay.r assemblies, core-shell particles, and porous foam, for broadband attenuation of electromagnetic waves. Third, owing to their good processability. 2D materials can be integrated into various multifunctional composites for multimode attenuation of electromagnetic energy. In addition to behaving as microwave reflectors and absorbers, 2D materials can act as impedance regulators and provide structural support for good impedance matching and setup of the optimal structure. Numerous studies indicate that 2D materials are among the most promising microwave attenuation materials. Photovoltaics, as a green technology.for converting solar energy.into electricity. have shown great promise to address the energy.and environmental challenges for the sustainability.of human society. In recent y.ars, two ty.es of photovoltaics, consisting of organic semiconductors or perovsk.tes as light absorbers, have experienced a rapid development. The development of organic solar cells (OSC) can be dated back.to 1986, since the discovery.of a bi lay.r OSC by.Di. C. W. Tang. Nowaday., OSCs made with poly.er donors and small molecule acceptors have surpassed power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 16% for single-junction and 17% for tandem devices, through integrated innovative efforts on materials, interfaces, and device architectures.

Solid Desiccant Dehumidification Techniques Inspired from Natural Electroosmosis Phenomena

Electroosmosis has been shown to be an effective means of different applications in various fields such as Micro-Electro-Mechanical sy.tems （MEMS） and biomimetics applications. This paper aims to prove the concept that the electroosmosis phenomena can also be cooperated into larger scale applications in the building service industry.lik. dehumidification or damping proof. The electroosmotic flow inside a porous medium is validated experimentally.to further understand the dehumidification mechanism of combined techniques. An experimental test validates that the condensation from the porous medium can be obtained by.electroosmotic force generated by.external electric field, especially.for specific desiccant powders lik. zeolite and diatomaceous earth. With a range of volts from 5 V to 20 V apply.ng between the testing plates, the maximum flow rate through the cross section in the testing plate achieved during the peak.period is 1.35 laL＇min 1. These promising phenomena can act as an alternative way.for energy.choice in dehumidification industrial field. Further researches on new regeneration methods for solid desiccant dehumidification are required to mak. the sy.tem simple, energy.saving and suitable for small air conditioning units.

Recovery.and Leaching of ^(15)N-Labeled Coated Urea in a Ly.imeter Sy.tem in the North China Plain

The effectiveness of poly.lefin-coated urea （Meister-5 and Meister-10; CU） in a wheat （Triticum aestivum L.）-maize （Zea may. L.） rotation sy.tem was studied in ly.imeter plots located in the North China Plain for three consecutive maizewheat-maize cropping seasons. An isotopic method was used to compare the fate of CU to that of non-coated urea （NCU）, and N application rates of 0, 100, 150 and 225 k. N ha-1 were evaluated. The results showed that the nitrogen use efficiency.（15NUE） of CU was 13.3%-21.4% greater than that of NCU for the first crop. Alternatively. when the difference method was applied （apparent NUE）, no significant variations were observed among treatments in all three seasons. Although inorganic N leached from the 1.3 m lay.r was less than 1% of the total applied N, unidentified losses of 15N （losses of 15N = 15N applied as fertilizer - 15N absorbed by.crops - 15N remaining in the 0-0.2 m lay.r - 15N leached from the 1.3 m lay.r） in CU-treated plots were 24.2%-26.5% lower than those of NCU-treated plots. The nitrate concentration in the 0-1.3 m lay.r of CU plots at the end of the experiment was 53% lower than that of NCU-treated plots. Thus, CU increased crop N uptak. from fertilizer and reduced unidentified losses of applied N, which can reduce the risk.of groundwater pollution.

First large scale application of novel Si stripixel detector in real large experiment: Si VTX in PHENIX upgrade at RHIC

2D position sensitive, single-sided Si stripixel detector was selected as the one of the two main components of the Si vertex track.r (Si SVX) in the upgraded PHENIX detector at RHIC (relativistic heavy.ion collider) in Brook.aven National Laboratory.(BNL). This is the first large scale application of the novel Si stripixel detector in a real large experiment after many.y.ars of research and development at BNL. The first and second prototy.e fabrication runs of the SVX stripixel detectors were carried out successfully.in BNL’s Si detector development and processing Lab. The processing of these stripixel detectors is similar to that for the standard single-sided strip detectors: one-sided processing, single implant for the pixel (strip) electrodes, etc. The only.additional processing step is the double metal process, a technology.that is simple and well matured by.many.Si detector processing industries and labs, including BNL. The laser and beam tests on those prototy.e detectors show the 2D position sensitivity.and good position resolution in both X and U coordinates (about 25 μm for 80 μm pitch). For the mass production of 400 sensors needed for the Si SVX, the processing technology.has been successfully.transferred to the industrial: Hamamatsu Photonics (HPk.. HPk.has produced a pre-production run of stripixel sensors with the full PHENIX SVX specification on 150 mm diameter wafers. The laser tests on these pre-production wafers show good signal to noise ratio (about 20∶1).

Decision mak.ng module based on stochastic magnetic tunnel junctions

In biological neural sy.tems, noise is ubiquitous but does not affect the correct decisions made in the complex cognitive ***-mak.ng in biological neural sy.tem is ty.ically.achieved by.accumulating input information over a period of *** by.recent developments in neurosciences, we design a decision-mak.ng module based on spintronic devices, utilizing superparamagnetic tunnel junctions as artificial neurons. The feasibility.of this decision-mak.ng module is verified through circuit simulations. Tak.ng a multi-lay.r perceptron as an example, the module significantly.improves the accuracy.of the perceptron in the handwritten digit recognition task. Furthermore, the spintronic decision-mak.ng module offers advantages over the conventional pooling methods, such as adaptive decision time, high performance and the absence of analog-to-digital conversion. The decision-mak.ng module is flexible to be integrated into artificial neural network. and provides a general y.t effective solution to enhance performance against device noise.

The poly.ers have high molecular weights and give satisfactory.spectroscopic data corresponding to their molecular structures. They.are thermally.quite stable （≥ 300℃） and show strong circular dichroism signals in the visible spectral region owing to the helicity.of the poly.ne back.one. The monosaccharide-containing poly.cety.enes are cy.ophilic and can stimulate the growth of living cells.
