This study uses six machine learning(ML)algorithms to evaluate and predict individuals'social resilience towards arsenicosis-affected people in an arsenic-risk society of rural *** 50%of the surveyed communities were found to be resilient towards arsenicosis *** regression with inbuilt cross-validation(LRCV)model scored the highest accuracy(76%),followed by Gaussian distributionbased naïve Bayes(GNB)model(74%),C-Support Vector(SVC)(74%),K-neighbors(Kn)(73%),Random Forest(RF)(72%),and Decision Tree(DT)(67%).The LRCV also scored the highest kappa value of 0.52,followed by GNB(0.48),SVC(0.48),Kn(0.46),RF(0.42),and DT(0.31).Caste,education,occupation,housing status,sanitation behaviors,trust in others,non-profit and private organizations,social capital,and awareness played a key role in shaping social resilience towards arsenicosis *** authors opine that LRCV and GNB could be promising methods to develop models on similar data generated from a risk society.

Residual h_(2)O_(2)from UV/h_(2)O_(2)treatment can be quenched by thiosulfate,bisulfite,and chlorine,but the kinetics of these reactions have not been reported under the full range of practical *** this study,the rates of h_(2)O_(2)quenching by these compounds were compared in different water matrices,temperatures,ph,and when using different forms of bisulfite and *** general,it was confirmed that thiosulfate would be too slow to serve as a quenching agent in most practical *** ph 7-8.5,chlorine tends to quench h_(2)O_(2)more than 20 times faster than bisulfite in the various conditions *** important observation was that in lightly-buffered water(e.g.,alkalinity of 20 mg/L as CaCO_(3)),the form of chlorine can have a large impact on quenching rate,with gaseous chlorine slowing the reaction due to its lowering of the ph,and hypochlorite having the opposite *** impacts will become less significant when water buffer capacity(i.e.,alkalinity)increases(e.g.,to 80 mg/L as CaCO_(3)).In addition,water temperature should be considered as the time required to quench h_(2)O_(2)by chlorine at 4℃is up to 3 times longer than at 20℃.

Incorporation of a carbon-based nutrient enhancementstrategy for drinking water biofiltration is an attractive option, especially for source waters which contain recalcitrant organics. This study compared biofilters that were operated in parallel and individually enhanced with amino acids(including alanine, phenylalanine, and tryptophan), inulin, and sucrose to increase biomass concentration and promote biodegradation of dissolved organic carbon(DOC) in the source water, including disinfection by-product(DBP) precursors. Biomass activity was characterized by measuring adenosine tri-phosphate(ATP), dissolved oxygen(DO) consumption, and through the use of laccase and esterase enzyme assays. Performance was evaluated in terms of headloss,turbidity, p h, DOC, UV254, and DBP formation potential(DBP FP). The introduction of carbonbased nutrients significantly increased biomass activity, where ATP values peaked at 976 ng/g of filter media, 853 ng/g, and 513 ng/g for amino acids, inulin, and sucrose-spiked biofilters,respectively, while a non-spiked control only reached 104 ng/g. DO utilization by the enhanced biofilters was significantly higher than the control, with a strong correlation between ATP and DO uptake observed for all filters(R^2> 0.74). Laccase and esterase enzyme activities of enhanced biofilters were also elevated(p > 0.05), suggesting greater biodegradation potential. Operational parameters such as headloss development and turbidity control were not impaired by carbon supplementation strategies or an increase in biomass concentration and activity. however, the enhancement strategy did not provide improvement in terms of source water carbon removal(DOC and UV254) or DBP FP when treated filters were compared to a control.

The response of materials to shock loading is important to planetary science,aerospace engineering,and energetic *** activated processes,including chemical reactions and phase transitions,are significantly accelerated by energy localization into *** result from the interaction of the shockwave with the materials’microstructure and are governed by complex,coupled processes,including the collapse of porosity,interfacial friction,and localized plastic *** mechanisms are not fully understood and the lack of models limits our ability to predict shock to detonation transition from chemistry and microstructure *** demonstrate that deep learning can be used to predict the resulting shock-induced temperature fields in composite materials obtained from large-scale molecular dynamics simulations with the initial microstructure as the only *** accuracy of the Microstructure-Informed Shock-induced Temperature net(MISTnet)model is higher than the current state of the art and its evaluation requires a fraction of the computation cost.
