Prevention and therapy of squamous cell carcinoma of the rodent esophagus using freeze-dried black raspberries

Aim:This study was conducted to determine if short-term treatment of N-nitrosomethylbenzylamine (NmBA)-induced tumors in the rat esophagus withdietary freeze-dried black raspberries (FBR) would result in tumor regression andenhanced survival of the ***:Four-week-old male Fisher-344 ratswere administered an AIN-76A control diet and injected subcutaneously with 0.5mg/kg NmBA once per week for 15 *** 19 weeks,when rats had an averageof 5-6 tumors (papillomas) per esophagus,they were given a control diet contain-ing either 5%,10%,or 20% *** 7 weeks of berry treatment,all survivingrats were killed and tumor incidence,number and volume were ***:Esophageal tumor incidences,numbers and volumes in NmBA-treated rats werenot influenced by any of the berry *** were progressive increasesin the survival of NmBA-treated rats fed 5%-20% FBR diets;however,theseincreases were not ***:FBR at 5%,10%,and 20% of the diethad no effect on the development of NmBA-induced tumors in the rat esophagusor on animal survival when administered for 7 weeks beginning at the papillomastage of tumor ***,FBR appear to have no therapeutic value inthe treatment of esophageal *** contrast,dietary FBR are highly effectivein preventing the development of NmBA-induced esophageal tumors in rats whenadministered before and during NmBA treatment or shortly after NmBA treat-ment when the esophagi contain preneoplastic (dysplastic) lesions of varyingdegrees of severity.

Analytical Solution for Time-dependent Flow of a Third Grade Fluid Induced Due to Impulsive motion of a Flat Porous Plate

The aim of the present communication is to discuss the analytical solution for the unsteady flow of a third grade fluid which occupies the space y 〉 0 over an infinite porous plate. The flow is generated due to the motion of the plate in its own plane with an impulsive velocity V（t）. Translational symmetries in variables t and y are utilized to reduce the governing non-linear partial differential equation into an ordinary differential equation. The reduced problem is then solved using homotopy analysis method（HAm）. Graphs representing the solution are plotted and discussed and proper conclusions are drawn.

Pancreatits after endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography

Pancreatitis is the most common complication after endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP); the reported incidence of this complication varies from less than 1% to 40%, but a rate of 4%-8% is reported in most prospective studies involving non-selected patients. Differences in criteria for defining pancreatitis, methods of data collection, and patient populations (i.e. number of high-risk patients included in the published series) are factors that are likely to affect the varying rates of post-ERCP pancreatitis. The severity of post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) can range from a minor inconvenience with one or two days of added hospitalization with full recovery to a devastating illness with pancreatic necrosis, multiorgan failure, permanent disability, and even death. Although, most episodes of PEP are mild (about 90%), a small percentage of patients (about 10%) develop moderate or severe pancreatitis. In the past, PEP was often viewed as an unpredictable and unavoidable complication, with no realistic strategy for its avoidance. New data have aided in stratifi cation of patients into PEP risk categories and new measures have been introduced to decrease the risk of PEP. As most ERCPs are performed on an outpatient basis, the majority of patients will not develop PEP and can be discharged. Alternatively, early detection of those patients who will go on to develop PEP can guide decisions regarding hospital admission and aggressive management. In the last decade, great efforts have been addressed toward prevention of this complication. Points of emphasis have included technical measures, pharmacological prophylaxis, and patient selection. This review provides a comprehensive, evidence-based assessment of published data on PEP and current suggestions for its avoidance.

In the present study,the effects of the magnetic field on the entropy generation during fluid flow and heat transfer of a Sisko-fluid over an exponentially stretching surface are *** similarity transformations are used to transfer the governing partial differential equations into a set of nonlinear-coupled ordinary differential ***-Kutta-Fehlberg method is used to solve the governing *** effects of magnetic field parameter,local slip parameterλ,generalized Biot numberγ,Sisko fluid material parameter,Eckert number Ec,Prandtl number Pr and Brinkman number Br at two values of power law index on the velocity,temperature,local entropy generation number N_(G) and Bejan number Be are ***,the tabular forms for local skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number under the effects of the physical parameters are *** current results are helpful in checking the entropy generation for *** is found that,an extra magnetic field parameter makes higher Lorentz force that suppresses the *** shear thinning fluids(nmperature dominates and the velocity *** entropy generation number is more for larger generalized Biot number,magnetic field parameter and Brinkman *** local skin friction coefficient increases as magnetic field parameter and material parameter are increase and it decreases as local slip parameter *** local Nusselt number decreases as magnetic field parameter,local slip parameter and Eckert number are increase,while it increases as material parameter,generalized Biot number and Prandtl number are increase.

mHD Boundary Layer Flow of a Power-Law Nanofluid Containing Gyrotactic microorganisms Over an Exponentially Stretching Surface

This study focusses on the numerical investigations of boundary layer flow for magnetohydrodynamic(mHD)and a power-law nanofluid containing gyrotactic microorganisms on an exponentially stretching surface with zero nanoparticle mass flux and convective *** nonlinear system of the governing equations is transformed and solved by Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg *** impacts of the transverse magnetic field,bioconvection parameters,Lewis number,nanofluid parameters,Prandtl number and power-law index on the velocity,temperature,nanoparticle volume fraction,density of motile microorganism profiles is *** addition,the impacts of these parameters on local skin-friction coefficient,local Nusselt,local Sherwood numbers and local density number of the motile microorganisms are *** results reveal that the power law index is considered an important factor in this *** to neglecting the buoyancy force term,the bioconvection and nanofluid parameters have slight effects on the velocity *** resultant Lorentz force,from increasing the magnetic field parameter,try to decrease the velocity profiles and increase the rescaled density of motile microorganisms,temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction ***,an augmentation of power-law index drops the reduced local skin-friction and reduced Sherwood number,while it increases reduced Nusselt number and reduced local density number of motile microorganisms.

Effects of magnetic field on photon-induced quantum transport in a single dot-cavity system

In this study,we show how a static magnetic field can control photon-induced electron transport through a quantum dot system coupled to a photon *** quantum dot system is connected to two electron reservoirs and exposed to an external perpendicular static magnetic *** propagation of electrons through the system is thus influenced by the static magnetic and the dynamic photon *** is observed that the photon cavity forms photon replica states controlling electron transport in the *** the photon field has more energy than the cyclotron energy,then the photon field is dominant in the electron ***,the electron transport is enhanced due to activation of photon replica *** contrast,the electron transport is suppressed in the system when the photon energy is smaller than the cyclotron energy.

In this paper we present a new version of Chen＇s system： a piecewise linear （PWL） Chert system of fractional-order. Via a sigmoid-like function, the discontinuous system is transformed into a continuous system. By numerical simulations, we reveal chaotic behaviors and also multistability, i.e., the existence of small pararheter windows where, for some fixed bifurcation parameter and depending on initial conditions, coexistence of stable attractors and chaotic attractors is possible. moreover, we show that by using an algorithm to switch the bifurcation parameter, the stable attractors can be numerically approximated.

Topology identification of complex networks is an important problem. Existing research shows that the synchronization of network nodes is an obstacle in the identification of network topology. Identification of the structure of the network presents an interesting challenge during the synchronization of complex *** developed a new method using the sinusoidal disturbance to identify the topology when the complex network achieves synchronization. Compared with the disturbance of all the nodes, the disturbance of the key nodes alone can achieve a very good effect. Finally, numerical simulation data are provided to validate our hypothesis.

The Zeit sand reservoir is one of the most prolific formations at Northwestern side of the Gulf of *** this research we will try to coordinate between electrical,petrophysical properties,depositional environment and facies discrimination in order to evaluate the hydrocarbon potentiality of studied Zeit *** statistical parameters for potassium(K),thorium(Th)and Th/U ratio contents have a general increase towards northwestern parts,whereas uranium(U)content has a general increase towards southeastern *** sandstone facies is distinguished from the other facies by its thorium content>4 ppm.U has high carbonate content(U≥1 ppm).Rocks'electrical properties vary greatly depending on a number of *** measurements were taken at frequencies range of(5×10^(-4)Hz-100 kHz)for fully saturated samples(clayey sandstone)with NaCl(20 gm/L).As salinity,clay content,and frequency increase,consequently does the electrical *** continental condition are present in northwestern part(back-sea)which is distinguished by high K percent,high Th,high Th/U ratio,and low U *** K,Th,and Th/U ratio contents,with high U contents,characterize the marine depositional environment that existed around the east and southeastern parts(foresea coincide with the dipping of strata).Furthermore,the studied Zeit Formation has good petrophysical properties that coincide with marine *** middle and eastern parts(around ISS-94 and CSS-288)is a good reservoir(porosity 36%-39%,shale content<15%,hydrocarbon saturation 71%-92%,and net pay thickness 17-63 feet).

An assessment of paleodepositional environment and maturity of organic matter in sediments of the Setap Shale and Belait formations in West Sabah,East malaysia by organic geochemical methods

The black shale samples collected from two Neogene formations in the Klias Peninsula area,West Sabah,have been assessed and characterized in details by gas chromatography,gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and a variety of organic geochemical *** aims of this study are to describe the characteristics of organic matter of these sediments in terms of source/type of the organic matter,assess its thermal maturity and paleoenvironment of deposition,based primarily on biomarker *** results of both formations do not reveal significant differences within the rock *** gas chromatograms of the saturated hydrocarbon fractions of the Setap Shale and the Belait formations displayed monomodal n-alkane distributions and nearly identical regular sterane compositions with a predominance of C27 regular *** are consistent with open marine depositional environments dominated by marine biological *** related feature of these rock extracts is the presence of a high relative abundance of gammacerane,indicating anoxic marine hypersaline source depositional *** relatively high abundance of common land plant-derived biomarkers,such as bicadinanes and oleananes,is a clear indication of a major terrigenous input to the source of the extractable organic *** predominance of oleanane biomarkers in both formations is indicative of angiospermis input and Tertiary source *** high C29/C30 hopane ratios,moderate development of C33-C35 hopanes,high abundance of tricyclic terpanes and a slight predominance of C27 regular sterane over C28 and C29 steranes are characteristic features tending to suggest a significant marine influence on these source rocks,thereby suggesting a mixed source *** 22S/(22S+22R)C32 hopane ratio has reached equilibrium,and this is supported by the high maturity level as indicated by the 22S/22SC31-33 extended hopane ratios and 20S/(20S+20R)C29 regular steranes ratios.
