AIM： To study expression of tissue factor （TF） in pancreatic cancer and its role in the development of thromboembolism.METHODS： TF expression was studied in eight human pancreatic carcinoma cell lines by Northern blot and indirect immunofluorescence. Expression of alternatively spliced TF （asTF） was assessed by rt-PCR. In addition, TF expression was determined by immunofluorescence in pancreatic tissues of 19 patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma （PCa）, 9 patients with chronic pancreatitis （CP） and 20 normal controls. Plasma samples （30 PCa-patients, 13 CP-patients and 20 controls） were investigated for soluble TF levels and coagulation activation markers [thrombin-antithrombin Ⅲ complex （TAT）, prothrombin fragment 1 ＋ 2 （F1 ＋ 2）]. RESULTS： All pancreatic carcinoma cell lines expressed TF （8/8） and most of them expressed asTF （6/8）. TF expression at the protein level did not correlate with the differentiation of the carcinoma cell line. All but two pancreatic cancer tissue samples stained positive for TF （17/19）. In all samples of CP weak staining was restricted to pancreatic duct cells, whereas only a few subendothelial cells were positive in 9/20 of normal controls. TF and TAT levels in PCa patients were significantly elevated compared to controls whereas elevated F1 ＋ 2 levels did not reach statistical significance compared to controls. In CP patients TAT and F1 ＋ 2 levels proved to be significantly elevated compared to controls, although TAT elevation was less pronounced than in PCa patients. CONCLUSION： We conclude that in addition to the upregulated expression of TF on the cell membrane, soluble TF might contribute to activation of the coagulation system in pancreatic cancer.

New,integrated petrographic,mineral chemistry,whole rock geochemical,zircon and titanite UPb geochronology,and zircon Hf isotopic data from the Montezuma granitoids,as well as new geochemical results for its host rocks represented by the Corrego Tingui Complex,provides new insights into the late-to post-collisional evolution of the northeastern Sao Francisco paleocontinent.U-Pb zircon dates from the Montezuma granitoids spread along the Concordia between ca.2.2 Ga to 1.8 Ga and comprise distinct *** I have crystallization ages between ca.2.15 Ga and 2.05 Ga and are interpreted as inherited *** II zircon dates vary from 2.04 Ga to1.9 Ga and corresponds to the crystallization of the Montezuma granitoids,which were constrained at ca.2.03 Ga by the titanite U-Pb *** age zoning is common within the ca.1.8 Ga Group III zircon ages,being related to fluid isotopic re-setting during the Espinhaco rifiting ***εHf(t)analysis show dominantly positive values for both Group I(-4 to+9)andⅡ(-3 to+8)zircons and TDM2 model ages of 2.7-2.1 Ga and 2.5-1.95 Ga,***,the Montezuma granitoids are weakly peraluminous to metaluminous magnesian granitoids,enriched in LILES and LREE,with high to moderate Mg#and depleted in some of the *** lithochemical signature,added to the juvenile signature of both inherited and crystallized zircons,allowed its classification as a shoshonitic high Ba-Sr granitoid related to a late-to post-collisional lithosphere delamination followed by asthenospheric *** this scenario,the partial melting of the lithospheric mantle interacted with the roots of an accreted juvenile intra-oceanic arc,being these hybrid magma interpreted as the source of the Montezuma *** Corrego Tingui Complex host rocks are akin to a syn-to late-collisional volcanic arc granitoids originated from the partial melting of ancient crustal *** results presented in this study have revealed the occurrence of j

Based on Mohr-Coulomb （M-C） criterion, the parameters of Druker-Prager （D-P） criterion for geomaterial were determined under non-associated flow rule, and thus a new D-P type criterion was presented. Two assumptions were employed during the derivation： 1） principal strains by M-C model and D-P model are equal, and 2） the material is under plane strain condition. Based on the analysis of the surface on rt plane, it is found that the proposed D-P type criterion is better than the D-P criterion with M-C circumscribed circle or M-C inscribed circle, and is applicable for stress Lode angle less than zero. By comparing the predicted results with the test data of sand under plane strain condition and other D-P criteria, the proposed criterion is verified and agrees well with the test data, which is further proved to be better than other D--P type criteria in certain range of Lode angle. The criterion was compiled into a finite difference package FLAC3D by user-subroutine, and was used to analyze the stability of a slope by strength reduction method. The predicted slope safety factor from the proposed criterion agrees well with that by Spencer method, and it is more accurate than that from classic D-P criteria.

Many applications, including optical multiplexing, switching, and detection, call for low-cost and broadband photonic devices with polarization-independent operation. While the silicon-on-insulator platform is well positioned to fulfill most of these requirements, its strong birefringence hinders the development of polarizationagnostic devices. Here we leverage the recently proposed bricked metamaterial topology to design, for the first time, to our knowledge, a polarization-independent 2 × 2 multimode interference coupler using standard 220 nm silicon thickness. Our device can be fabricated with a single etch step and is optimized for the O-band,covering a wavelength range of 160 nm with excess loss, polarization-dependent loss, and imbalance below 1 dB and phase errors of less than 5°, as demonstrated with full three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulations.

Atlanto-occipital dislocation(AOD) is being increasingly recognized as a potentially survivable injury as a result of improved prehospital management of polytrauma patients and increased awareness of this entity, leading to earlier diagnosis and more aggressive treatment. However, despite overall improved outcomes, AOD is still associated with significant morbidity andmortality. The purpose of this paper is to review the biomechanical aspects, clinical features, radiologic criteria, and treatment strategies of AOD. Given that the diagnosis of AOD can be very challenging, a high degree of clinical suspicion is essential to ensure timely recognition and treatment, thus preventing neurological decline or death.

Background： G-protein coupled receptors（GPCR）, also referred as Free Fatty Acid Receptors（FFAR）, are widely studied within human medicine as drug targets for metabolic disorders. To combat metabolic disorders prevalent in dairy cows during the transition period, which co-occur with negative energy balance and changes to lipid and glucose metabolism, it may be helpful to identify locations and roles of FFAR and other members of the GPCR family in bovine ***： Quantitative rt-PCR（qPCR） of subcutaneous adipose, liver, and PMNL samples during the transition period（-10, ＋7, and ＋20 or ＋30 d） were used for expression profiling of medium-（MCFA） and long-chain fatty acid（LCFA）receptors GPR120 and GPR40, MCFA receptor GPR84, and niacin receptor HCAR2/3. Adipose samples were obtained from cows with either high（HI; BCS ≥ 3.75） or low（LO; BCS ≤ 3.25） body condition score（BCS） to examine whether FFAR expression is correlated with this indicator of health and body reserves. Supplementation of rumen-protected methionine（MET）, which may improve immune function and production postpartum, was also compared with unsupplemented control（CON） cows for liver and blood polymorphonuclear leukocytes（PMNL） samples. In adipose tissue, GPR84 and GPR120 were differentially expressed over time, while GPR40 was not expressed; in PMNL, GPR40 was differentially expressed over time and between MET vs. CON, GPR84 expression differed only between dietary groups, and GPR120 was not expressed; in liver, GPCR were either not expressed or barely ***： The data indicate that there is likely not a direct role in liver for the selected GPCR during the transition period, but they do play variable roles in adipose and PMN. In future, these receptors may prove useful targets and/or markers for peripartal metabolism and immunity.
