Indonesian peatlands are a fragile ecosystem.and to protect it,growing Liberica coffee is a prom.sing way for both the environm.nt and the *** study aim.d to evaluate the perform.nce of the liberica coffee on peatland with different water tables and develop an im.roved cultivation system.in this *** study area was in Tanjung Jabung Barat District,Jam.i Province,*** plant age is greater than 15 years and the average plant density was about 1000 trees/*** study was conducted in two *** 1st stage was a survey to identify and characterize sm.llholder liberica coffee farm.ng at three peatland zones,nam.ly 0-100 m.200-300 m.and>400 m.from.the principal drainage canal,and the 2nd stage was a field experim.nt to test the effectiveness of am.ndm.nts in im.roving liberica coffee growth and im.roving degraded *** treatm.nts were arranged in a random.zed com.lete block design with four replications,including m.nure(m.,at the rate of 10 t/hm.(2);lim.(L),3 t/hm.(2);peat surface elevation(P),and a farm.r’s practice(Control)without m.nure and/or lim. as a *** research revealed that liberica coffee can not tolerate high water table as it m.y stim.late disease incidence and cause low-quality ***,recycling of organic C of about 17.14 t/(hm.(2)·a)through cherry residue application and litter com.ensated part of the loss of organic C through CO_(2)em.ssions,coffee bean rem.val,and m.intaining peat fertility for sustainable *** low yield of(0.70±0.12)t/(hm.(2)∙a)coffee bean could be increased to(0.87±0.24)and(0.94±0.14)t/(hm.(2)∙a)by adding 3 t/(hm.(2)∙3a)of lim. or 10 t/(hm.(2)∙a)of m.nure,*** research revealed that water table m.nagem.nt and am.ndm.nts are two m.in factors in liberica coffee farm.ng on *** is of great significance to study the cultivation technology of coffee in peatland.

Analysis of genetic relationship am.ng Arbutus unedo L. genotypes using RAPD and SSR m.rkers

The strawberry tree （Arbutus unedo L.） is an underutilized, drought tolerant, fire resistant species with a south western distribution in Europe, and with ecological and putative socio-econom.cal im.act in Portugal and m.diterranean countries. Our aim.was to develop an appropriate set of m.lecular m.rkers to enable genetic diversity to be assessed and to fingerprint Arbutus unedo genotypes for breeding and conservation purposes in Portugal. Twenty-seven trees from.a broad geographic range were screened with 20 random.am.lified polym.rphic DNA （RAPD prim.rs） and 11 m.crosatellite m.rkers （SSR）. The RAPDs generated 124 bands, 57.3% of which were polym.rphic, with an expected heterozygosity of 27%. We cross-am.lified 11 SSR prim.rs developed for Vaccinium.spp., and 5 were found to be polym.rphic in A. unedo, with 75% of expected heterozygosity, a num.er of alleles of 11.6, a null allele frequency of 7.6% and a polym.rphic inform.tion content of 71%. Although the SSRs were m.re polym.rphic and inform.tive than the RAPDs, both m.rkers displayed high genetic variability with the gathered data. No geographic pattern was observed in the genetic variation distribution based on both m.rker system., and the lack of correlation between genetic and geographical m.trices was confirm.d by m.ntel tests. Likely, no correlation was found between pairwise SSR and RAPD band-sharing m.trices. These results and their im.lications on A. unedo breeding and conservation program. are discussed.

A m.ltiobjective routing m.del for m.ltiprotocol Label Switching networks with m.ltiple service types and traffic splitting is presented in this paper. The routing problem.is form.lated as a m.ltiobjective m.xed-integer program. where the considered objectives are the m.nim.zation of the bandwidth routing cost and the m.nim.zation of the load cost in the network links with a constraint on the m.xim.l splitting of traffic trunks. Two different exact m.thods are developed for solving the form.lated problem. one based on the classical constraint m.thod and another based on a m.dified constraint m.thod. A very extensive experim.ntal study, with results on network perform.nce m.asures in various reference test networks and in random.y generated networks, is also presented and its results are discussed.

Increasing concerns have been raised on endocrine disrupting chem.cals like the sex horm.ne 17 a-ethinylestradiol(EE2),the m.re since traditional wastewater(WW) treatm.nts appear to be ineffective for their *** efficacy of the relatively novel disinfectant peracetic acid(PAA) in EE2 rem.val was evaluated,as well as its potential effects on WW quality *** treatm.nts tested for EE2 rem.val were also evaluated in term. of toxicity,through the determ.nation of biochem.cal responses(antioxidant enzym.s,lipid peroxidation and vitellogenin induction) using zebrafish(Danio rerio) as a biological *** contact tim.s less than 20 m.n appeared insufficient regardless of the PAA dose tested,but a 100% EE2 rem.val was attained at a PAA concentration of 15 m./L with a contact tim. of20 *** suspended solids,chem.cal oxygen dem.nd and pH in PAA treatm.nts rem.ined well within levels set in European legislation for WW ***2 induced signific ant increased vitellogenin(VTG) levels in both fem.le and m.le fish,indic ating increased estrogenic activity,especially in m.les suggesting an endocrine disruption *** the addition of PAA(15 m./L),however,VTG levels in both sexes returned to control *** this PAA treatm.nt showed increased levels of the antioxidant enzym. catalase,the lipid peroxidation levels were sim.lar or even lower than in *** the results suggest that the use of PAA appears a prom.sing way forward as a less toxic alternative to chlorine disinfection with high efficiency in the rem.val of EDC like EE2.

Delaying clozapine: how long is too long?

Background Although clozapine is the m.st effective drug for treatm.nt-resistant schizophrenia,its use rem.ins restricted in clinical practice in *** delay in initiating treatm.nt with clozapine and its im.act on disease outcom. needs *** To identify the im.lications of delaying clozapine initiation in clinical outcom.s am.ng people with treatm.nt-resistant *** Subjects with treatm.nt-resistant schizophrenia,stabilised on clozapine m.notherapy,were recruited from.the outpatient clinic of a general hospital psychiatry unit offering tertiary care services in Thrissur district,Kerala,India.A retrospective cohort design was em.loyed,and inform.tion on duration of illness,total duration of treatm.nt and duration of treatm.nt with clozapine was *** sym.tom.status was m.asured using the Positive and Negative Syndrom. *** associated with higher sym.tom.scores were analysed using an independent sam.le f test,Spearm.n correlation and m.ltiple linear *** Forty subjects stabilised on long-term.clozapine therapy form.d the study *** m.an dose of clozapine used in the study population was 200 *** m.an duration of antipsychotic treatm.nt before starting clozapine was 89.3 m.nths(7.4 years).The duration of treatm.nt before starting clozapine was found to have a significant positive association with the total Positive and Negative Syndrom. Scale score(correlation coefficient 0.40;p=0.01)and negative sym.tom.score(correlation coefficient 0.33;p=0.04).The m.ltiple regression analysis adjusting for covariates showed that the duration of treatm.nt before starting clozapine was an independent factor associated with a higher negative sym.tom.score in the Positive and Negative Syndrom. Scale(slope p=0.05;p=0.02;R2=0.27).Conclusion Poor treatm.nt outcom.s in treatm.ntresistant schizophrenia could be secondary to a delay in initiating clozapine therapy.

Resin infiltration of deproteinised natural occlusal subsurface lesions im.roves initial quality of fissure sealing

The aim.of this ex vivo study was to evaluate the infiltration capability and rate of m.croleakage of a low-viscous resin infiltrant com.ined with a flowable com.osite resin(RI/CR) when used with deproteinised and etched occlusal subsurface lesions(International Caries Detection and Assessm.nt System.code 2). This com.ined treatm.nt procedure was com.ared with the exclusive use of flowable com.osite resin(CR) for fissure sealing. Twenty prem.lars and 20 m.lars revealing non-cavitated occlusal carious lesions were random.y divided into two groups and were m.ticulously cleaned and deproteinised using Na OCl(2%). After etching with HCl(15%), 10 prem.lar and 10 m.lar lesions were infiltrated(Icon/Dm.; rhodam.ne B isothiocyanate(RITC)-labelled) followed by fissure sealing(G-?nial Flo/GC; experim.ntal group, RI/CR). In the control group(CR), the carious fissures were only sealed. Specim.ns were cut perpendicular to the occlusal surface and through the area of the highest dem.neralisation(DIAGNOdent pen, Ka Vo). Using confocal laser-scanning m.croscopy, the specim.ns were assessed with regard to the percentage of caries infiltration, m.rginal adaption and internal integrity. Within the CR group, the carious lesions were not infiltrated. Both prem.lar(57.9% ± 23.1%) and m.lar lesions(35.3% ± 22.1%) of the RI/CR group were uniform.y infiltrated to a substantial extent, albeit with significant differences(P = 0.034). m.reover, m.croleakage(n = 1) and the occurrence of voids(n = 2) were reduced in the RI/CR group com.ared with the CR group(5 and 17 specim.ns,respectively). The RI/CR approach increases the initial quality of fissure sealing and is recom.ended for the clinical control of occlusal caries.
