Green hydrogen production from photovoltaic power station as a road map to climate change mitigation

The increasing recognition of hydrogen as a critical element in the global net-zero transition and its clear role in decarbonizing challenging sectors coincide with the growing urgency to address climate change. Africa's favourable renewable-energy capacity, ranging from 28% to 36% for solar, has been reported by the global solar irradiance index. However, the majority of hydrogen production today relies on fossil fuels (96%), with only a small fraction (4%) being produced through water electrolysis. Even though there have been many studies on climate change mitigation with a focus on Africa, a green hydrogen production from a photovoltaic power station approach has not been reported. Also, literature with a focus on Nigeria is lacking. This study focuses on the African green hydrogen production industry, utilizing Nigeria as a case study to explore the feasibility of generating clean hydrogen vectors from a percentage of photovoltaic power output in various regions of the country through stand-alone solar grid electrification projects. Analyses of the usage and effectiveness of the produced hydrogen fuel in each region are carried out, with the highest region having an annual output of 12 247 278 kg of green hydrogen and 8 573 094 kg of ammonia and the lowest region having an output of 511 245 kg of green hydrogen and 357 871 kg of ammonia, and the expected production from the proposed usage of 50% of the power generation output of the installed 1.6-MWp and 80-kWp solar power minigrids in the regions is calculated. The analyses were repeated for the other considered regions in the country. The results showcased the enormous advantages of the electrolytic production of hydrogen and how the greener economy project can play a major role in mitigating climate change effects and overreliance on fossil fuels as the driver of the economy in many African countries. Understanding the role of neuropilin 2(NRP2)in prostate cancer cells as well as in the bone microenvironment is pivotal in the development of an effective targeted therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer bone *** observed a significant upregulation of NRP2 in prostate cancer cells metastasized to ***,we report that targeting NRP2 in cancer cells can enhance taxane-based chemotherapy with a better therapeutic outcome in bone metastasis,implicating NRP2 as a promising therapeutic ***,osteoclasts present in the tumor microenvironment express NRP2,we have investigated the potential effect of targeting NRP2 in *** results revealed NRP2 negatively regulates osteoclast differentiation and function in the presence of prostate cancer cells that promotes mixed bone *** study further delineated the molecular mechanisms by which NRP2 regulates osteoclast ***,depletion of NRP2 in osteoclasts in vivo showed a decrease in the overall prostate tumor burden in the *** results therefore indicate that targeting NRP2 in prostate cancer cells as well as in the osteoclastic compartment can be beneficial in the treatment of prostate cancer bone metastasis.

Antiplasmodial mechanism of Lawsonia inermis: An in silico based investigation

Background:Lawsonia inermis has been widely reported to be used as an herbal treatment for ***,despite several experimental studies about its antimalarial activities,the approach through which the herbal plant suppresses plasmodium infection is yet to be ***,this study uses computational approaches to understand the biological targets and pathways involved in the antiplasmodial activities of Lawsonia inermis ***:The Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry technique identified the phytocompounds present in the herbal ***,OMIM,and NCBI databases were explored to collate target proteins for further network pharmacology *** phytocompounds were subjected to Absorption,Distribution,Metabolism,Excretion and Toxicity(ADMET)and druglikeness *** STRING algorithm and Cytoscape were employed to develop and analyze the relationships among target proteins and compounds/targets/pathways network of the putative targets of the *** computational analysis was carried out to identify potential drug ***:Based on the Network Pharmacology studies,phytocompounds in Lawsonia inermis exhibit antiplasmodial activity by interacting with therapeutic genes that play essential roles in metabolism and signaling *** among the genes are MMP9,MAPK1,HMOX1 and ***,the most influenced pathways include the metabolic pathway,PI3K-Akt signaling pathway,and HIF-1 signaling *** analysis,molecular docking analysis,and molecular dynamics simulation revealed that 3-phenyl-2-Isoxazoline and 2-Dimethylamino-3’-methoxyacetophenone are recommendable drug leads for Malaria treatment as they form stable and favorable complexes with Matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP9)***:The 3-phenyl-2-Isoxazoline and 2-Dimethylamino-3’-methoxyacetophenone phytocompounds from Lawsonia inermis herbal plant are predicted as antimalarial drug candidates and recommended for further wet-lab studies.

A review of selected parasitic plants in Nigeria:converting harms to benefits

Parasitic plants are challenging to agricultural crops and forestry development,which are sources of major revenues in several countries,including ***,parasitic plants are important to human society as they have an abundance of bioactive compounds with pharmacological ***,it becomes expedient to know the benefits of these plants and potential means of *** review discusses four selected parasitic plants in Nigeria,namely Viscum album,Striga hermonthica,Tapinanthus bangwensis and Cuscuta *** information about their pharmacological relevance and biocontrol was obtained from credible databases,including the National Library of Medicine,SCOPUS,and Google *** review showed that all four plants have been extensively studied for their antioxidant and antitumor ***,antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities are common pharmacological values among parasitic *** are largely due to the presence of abundant beneficial classes of ***,there is an increasing number of biocontrol studies on the use of microorganisms,such as Phaeobotryosphaeria visci,Sphaeropsis visci,Pandoraea pulminicol,Colletotrichum gloeosporioides,and Fusarium oxysporum in controlling and managing these seemingly disastrous *** is hoped that this review will spur further studies into the conservation and proper management of parasitic plants using strategically developed biocontrol.

Composition- and oxidation-controlled magnetism ternary FeCoNi nanocrystals

Ternary FeCoNi metallic nanostructures have attracted significant attention due to their high saturation magnetization, unique mechanical properties, and large corrosion resistance. In this study, we report a controlled synthesis of ternary FeCoNi nanocrystals using solution-based epitaxial core-shell nanotechnology. The thickness and stoichiometry of the FeCoNi nanocrystals affect their magnetic characteristics, which can be controlled by a phase transformation-induced tetragonal distortion. Furthermore, surface oxidation of the stoichiometry-controlled FeCoNi nanostructures can drastically enhance their magnetic coercivity （up to 8,881.60e for AuCu-FeCo）, and optimize the AuCu-FeCo08Ni0.2 performance corresponding to the saturated magnetization of 134.4 emu-g-1 and coercivity of 4,036.70e, which opens the possibility of developing rare-earth free high energy nanomagnets.

Number of holes and blades to control the performance of aquaculture aerator

Water quality determines the success of inland *** factor determining water quality is the concentration of dissolved oxygen(DO).To find effective paddlewheel aerators to enhance DO concentration,nine model aerators were examined:aerator 4 blades,6 blades and 8 blades with variations of 12 holes per blade,16 holes per blade and 20 holes per *** were rotated at 80 RPM,100 RPM,120 RPM and 140 *** results show the higher the rotation speed is,the bigger the increment of DO concentration is,but their relationship is not *** is a condition when increasing rotation does not affect the DO concentration *** results also indicate the greater number of blades increase more DO *** results also suggest the greater number of holes per blade initially increase DO concentration increment,but after 16 holes the increment tends to *** is predicted owing to that widening surface interaction due to the holes in the blade is taken over by reducing the volume of splashed *** this research,likely the aerator with 8 blades,16 holes per blade and rotated at 120 RPM is the optimum one to increase DO ***,if the energy consumption is also the concern,the aerator with 6 blades and 16 holes per blade likely is the better choice.

Malaria is highly prevalent in Nigeria and accounts for approximately 40%of global malaria ***,most reports on severe malaria in Nigeria are from hospital-based studies without accurate information from communities;thus,malaria-related deaths in the community are left *** study aimed to describe the prevalence and pattern of severe malaria in a community in Northwestern Nigeria.A cross-sectional study was conducted among 2–10-year-old children in Sokoto,in August and December 2016,to determine the endemicity of malaria based on Plasmodium falciparum prevalence rate(PfPR2-10)and to describe the disease *** malaria was diagnosed according to the World Health Organisation *** were described using Stata version *** prevalence of non-anaemia severe malaria was higher than expected(2.6%),considering the endemicity pattern which was mesoendemic based on a PfPR2-10 of 34.8%.The mean age of children with severe malaria was 3.73 years,and the male—female ratio was 2:***,54.0%of the patients had hyperparasitaemia.A relatively high prevalence of non-anaemia severe malaria was found in *** finding suggests the need to identify and treat cases in the community using modifications of current strategies,particularly seasonal malaria chemoprophylaxis.

Prevalence of enteric pathogen-associated community gastroenteritis among kindergarten children in Gaza

Gastroenteritis is considered as one of the leading causes of illness and death in children under 5 years age, especially in developing countries. It is one of the major public health problems among childhood in Gaza strip, Palestine. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of enteric pathogen-associated community gastro- enteritis among kindergarten children in Gaza. A total of 150 stool samples were collected and investigated for parasitic, viral and bacterial pathogens at Al Azhar microbiology laboratories by using standard microbiological and serological procedures. Out of the 150 study samples, the overall percentage of positive stool samples with a known enteric pathogen was 60.6%. The prevalence of different enteric pathogens causing community gastroenteritis among symptomatic cases （88.5%） was significantly higher than the prevalence in asymptomatic carriage （11.1%）. The most prevalent isolated enteric pathogens were Entamoeba histolytica （28.0%） and Giardia lamblia （26.7%）. Rotavirus was found in 3.1% of symptomatic cases but not detected in asymptomatic carriage. However, adenovirus type 40 and 41 were not detected in any of the study samples. The bacterial enteric pathogens Shigella and Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157：H7 （EHEC） have comparable occurrence as rotavirus （3.1%）, meanwhile, Salmonella was not isolated. Mixed infection with more than 1 pathogen was found （11.4%） only among symptomatic cases. Children aged 3-year-old showed the highest prevalence of community gastroenteritis. This study demonstrates a high prevalence of parasitic enteropathogens and a relatively low prevalence of bacterial and viral enteropathogens among kindergarten children living in Gaza city, moreover, children aged 3 years old showed the highest prevalence of isolated enteropathogens.
