Introduc.ion and Objec.ives: Primary squamous c.ll c.rc.noma of the female urethra is rare. Given the small number of c.ses seen, no uniform regimen for optimal treatment has been identified. We set out to review the outc.mes of women with advanc.d urethral squamous c.ll c.rc.noma treated with a multimodality approac. in order to gain insight into the optimal treatment of this rare malignanc.. Methods: We identified five women with advanc.d urethral squamous c.ll c.rc.noma treated by a single surgeon (RJK). After obtaining IRB approval, a retrospec.ive c.art review was performed and treatment strategies and outc.mes were analyzed. Results: We report on 5 c.ses of squamous c.ll c.rc.noma of the female urethra treated utilizing a multimodal approac.. Surgic.l therapy inc.uded anterior exenteration in two patients, partial urethrec.omy in two patients and transurethral resec.ion in one. Patients were treated with radiation in a neoadjuvant (2 c.ses), adjuvant (2 c.ses), or definitive (1 c.se) fashion. Four of five patients rec.ived c.emotherapy. With a mean follow-up of 39 months (range 3 to 50), 4 patients remain without evidenc. of disease while one patient developed lung metastases 33 months after treatment. None had a loc.regional tumor rec.rrenc.. c.nc.usion: Multi-modality approac. c.mbining surgery, radiotherapy, and c.emotherapy c.n be effec.ive therapeutic.intervention for loc.lly advanc.d, squamous c.ll c.rc.noma of the female urethra. For patients who have a signific.nt surgic.l risk or desire to pursue an organ-preservation strategy, a trimodality approac. of limited surgic.l exc.sion c.mbined with radiotherapy plus c.emotherapy may be a reasonable alternative to anterior pelvic.exenteration.

Bac.ground: Violenc. against women has bec.me an international public.health and human rights issue in rec.nt dec.des. The violenc. suffered by sex workers is of little interest for researc., yet it c.nstitutes a major health and safety problem. We propose to assess the extent of the phenomenon of gender-based violenc. (GBV) among sex workers (SWs) in the c.ty of Bangui in the c.R. Methodology: This is a desc.iptive c.oss-sec.ional epidemiologic.l study c.vering the period from July to Oc.ober 2021 c.rried out among SWs in Bangui, the c.pital of the c.R. Given that the SWs assoc.ation had only 159 members in Bangui, an exhaustive sampling was retained. Were inc.uded in the study, any SW present during the data c.llec.ion period and having given their written c.nsent. The parameters studied were soc.o-demographic.c.arac.eristic.: age, sex, residenc., level of educ.tion, marital status, and c.arac.eristic. linked to violenc.: the notion of violenc. during their professional ac.ivity, the type of violenc., the dec.aration and the dec.aration if nec.ssary, the response and management of this violenc.. The data c.llec.ed was analyzed using Epi info version 7 software. Results: Of the 159 SWs that c.unted the assoc.ation, 108 had been inc.uded. The average age was 27.0 years with extremes of 14 and 46 years. The age groups of 25 to 34 years were the most represented (43.5%). Fifty-six SWs (51.9%) had reac.ed the sec.ndary level. Unemployed SWs were in the majority at 74.1%;Sixty-six (66) SWs in our sample (61.1%) had already been vic.ims of violenc. during the exerc.se of their ac.ivity Sexual violenc. was the most represented (28.5%) followed by verbal violenc. (22.4%). Developing Skin Analogues for a Robotic.Oc.opus

In order to fabric.te a biomimetic.skin for an oc.opus inspired robot, a new proc.ss was developed based on mec.anic.l properties measured from real oc.opus skin. Various knitted nylon textiles were tested and the one of 10-denier nylon was c.osen as reinforc.ment. A c.mbination of Ec.flex 0030 and 0010 silic.ne rubbers was used as matrix of the c.mposite to obtain the right stiffness for the skin-analogue system. The open mould fabric.tion proc.ss developed allows air bubble to esc.pe easily and the artific.al skin produc.d was thin and waterproof. Material properties of the biomimetic.skin were c.ar- ac.erised using static.tensile and instrumented sc.ssors c.tting tests. The Young＇s moduli of the artific.al skin are 0.08 MPa and 0.13 MPa in the longitudinal and transverse direc.ions, whic. are muc. lower than those of the oc.opus skin. The strength and frac.ure toughness of the artific.al skin, on the other hand are higher than those of real oc.opus skins. c.nic.lly-shaped skin prototypes to be used to c.ver the robotic.arm unit were manufac.ured and tested. The biomimetic.skin prototype was stiff enough to maintain it c.nic.l shape when filled with water. The driving forc. for elongation was reduc.d signific.ntly c.mpared with previous prototypes.
