The changes of decay rates of radionuclide 111In(electron capture) and 32P(β decay) induced by exter-nal mechanic motion are studied. The results indicate that,in the external circular rotation in clockwise and anticlockwise centrifuge on Northern Hemisphere(radius 8 cm,2000 r/min) ,the half life of 111In compared with the referred(2.83 d) is decreased at 2.83% and increased at 1.77%,respectively;the half life of 32P compared with the referred(14.29 d) is decreased at 3.78% and increased at 1.75%,respec-tively. When the clockwise and anticlockwise rotations increase to 4000 r/min,the half life of 111In is decreased at 11.31% and increased at 6.36%,respectively;the half life of 32P is decreased at 10.08% and increased at 4.34%,respectively. When the circular rotation is removed,the decay rates of 111In and 32P return back to the referred,respectively. It is found that the external circular rotations in clockwise and anticlockwise centrifuge selectively increased and decreased the decay rates of 111In and 32P,respec-tively,and the effects are strongly dependent on the strength of circular rotation. It is suggested that these effects may be caused by the chiral interaction.

Conservation management practices e including agroforestry,cover cropping,no-till,reduced tillage,and residue return e have been applied for decades to control surface runoff and soil erosion,yet results have not been integrated and evaluated across cropping *** this study we collected data comparing agricultural production with and without conservation management *** used a bootstrap resampling analysis to explore interactions between practice type,soil texture,surface runoff,and soil *** then used a correlation analysis to relate changes in surface runoff and soil erosion to 13 other soil health and agronomic indicators,including soil organic carbon,soil aggregation,infil-tration,porosity,subsurface leaching,and cash crop *** all conservation management practices,surface runoff and erosion had respective mean decreases of 67%and 80%compared with *** of cover cropping provided the largest decreases in erosion and surface runoff,thus emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuous vegetative cover on ***-and medium-textured soils had greater decreases in both erosion and runoff than fine-textured *** in surface runoff and soil erosion under conservation management were highly correlated with soil organic carbon,aggregation,porosity,infiltration,leaching,and yield,showing that conservation practices help drive important in-teractions between these different facets of soil *** study offers the first large-scale comparison of how different conservation agriculture practices reduce surface runoff and soil erosion,and at the same time provides new insight into how these interactions influence the improvement or loss of soil health。

This article examines the discourse of two American couples in the China trade regarding fidelity and sacrifice during the period in which the spatial confines of the Canton system gave way to the intensified interactions of the Treaty Port *** the Opium War,when the Qing court had mandated that Western husbands conducting business in Canton live apart from their wives,marital tension was accentuated by the separation from absentee *** the subsequent Treaty Port era,enhanced spatial mobility of the couples did not assuage their ***,intensified cross-cultural encounters allowed them to project their feelings and expectations on the foreign other,'as racial categories developed and their imperial proclivities began to *** the Western women in contact with elite Chinese and other Western women only aggravated their agitation as they faced their Chinese counterparts,whom they readily construed as *** socio-political and spatial reconfigurations provided new dimensions to the discourse of fidelity and *** voices of the American couples recorded here are those of individuals,but the underlying anxiety they articulated represented the growing pains of more intimate Sino-Western encounters.

developing selective mining capability for longwall shearers using thermal infrared-based seam tracking

Longwall mining continues to remain the most efficient method for underground coal recovery. A key aspect in achieving safe and productive longwall mining is to ensure that the shearer is always correctly positioned within the coal seam. At present, this machine positioning task is the role of longwall personnel who must simultaneously monitor the longwall coal face and the shearer's cutting drum position to infer the geological trends of the coal seam. This is a labour intensive task which has negative impacts on the consistency and quality of coal production. As a solution to this problem, this paper presents a sensing method to automatically track geological coal seam features on the longwall face, known as marker bands, using thermal infrared imaging. These non-visible marker bands are geological features that link strongly to the horizontal trends present in layered coal seams. Tracking these line-like features allows the generation of a vertical datum that can be used to maintain the shearer in a position for optimal coal extraction. details on the theory of thermal infrared imaging are given, as well as practical aspects associated with machine-based implementation underground. The feature detection and tracking tasks are given with real measurements to demonstrate the efficacy of the approach. The outcome is important as it represents a new selective mining capability to help address a long-standing limitation in longwall mining operations.

Pigs experience biological stress such as physiological, environmental, and social challenges when weaned from the sow. The process of weaning is one of the most stressful events in the pig＇s life that can contribute to intestinal and immune system dysfunctions that result in reduced pig health, growth, and feed intake, particularly during the first week after weaning. Technological improvements in housing, nutrition, health, and management have been used to minimize some of the adverse effects of weaning stress, but a greater understanding of the biological impact of stress is needed to improve strategies to overcome weaning stress. The focus of this review paper is to briefly describe how the biological stress associated with weaning impacts intestinal morphology, structure, physiology, and intestinal immune responses that can impact subsequent production efficiencies such as growth, intake, morbidity, and mortality.

Background:Optic nerve head measurements extracted from optical coherence tomography(OCT)show promise for monitoring clinical conditions with elevated optic nerve *** aim of this study is to compare reliability within and between raters and between image acquisition devices of optic nerve measurements derived from OCT scans in eyes with varying degrees of optic nerve ***:Wide angle line scans and narrow angle radial scans through optic nerve heads were obtained using three spectral domain(Sd)OCT devices on 5 subjects(6 swollen optic nerves,4 normal optic nerves).Three raters independently semi-manually segmented the internal limiting membrane(ILM)and Bruch’s membrane(BM)on each scan using customized *** rater segmented each scan *** were qualitatively and quantitatively ***-rater,intra-rater and inter-device reliability was assessed for the optic nerve cross sectional area calculated from the ILM and BM segmentations using intraclass correlation coefficients and graphical ***:Line scans from all devices were qualitatively *** scans for which frame rate could not be adjusted were of lower ***-rater reliability for segmentation and optic nerve cross sectional area was better than inter-rater reliability,which was better than inter-device reliability,though all ICC exceeded *** was not impacted by the degree of optic nerve ***:Sd-OCT devices acquired similar quality scans of the optic nerve head,with choice of scan protocol affecting the *** image derived markers,variability between devices was greater than that attributable to inter and intra-rater differences.

The Reports on the Work of the Government present a number of features, such as official authority, annual continuity and focused content, so it can be used as a major textual basis on which to define the key work of ethnic minority rights protection. At the present stage, the key work is to realize economic and cultural rights by insisting on and perfecting the system of regional national autonomy with the aim of realizing the right to development. According to the 13 th Five-Year Plan, it is necessary to protect economic rights in the regional development framework, the cultural rights in national communication and the right to autonomy under the rule of law.
