The effec. of daily c.nsumption of a yogurt c.ntaining Lac.obac.llus reuteri c.L 1098 on the lipid profile of hyperc.olesterolemic.subjec.s was evaluated by performing a prospec.ive, randomized, double-blind, c.oss-over plac.bo c.ntrolled c.inic.l study. Partic.pants c.nsumed daily a yogurt c.ntaining L. reuteri c.L 1098 or a plac.bo for four weeks, separated by a wash-out period. Total c.olesterol, triac.lglyc.rol, high-density (HDL) and low-density (LDL) lipoprotein levels were assessed at the beginning and at the end of eac. period. We found a statistic.lly signific.nt reduc.ion of total (–7.86 g/dl) and LDL (–7.02 g/dl) c.olesterol in absolute c.anges (before-after) as well as a dec.easing trend in the group rec.iving the yogurt c.ntaining L. reuteri with respec. to the plac.bo group, without detec.ing c.anges in HDL-c.olesterol and triac.lglyc.rol levels. Our results suggest that low amounts of yogurt (125 g/day) and low doses of the c.L 1098 strain (106 c.U) are suffic.ent to reduc. total and LDL-c.olesterol levels in hyperc.olesterolemic.subjec.s.

Litterfall is the largest sourc. of nutrients to for-est soils of tropic.l ***,variability in lit-terfall produc.ion,nutrient remobilization,and c.anges in leaf nutrient c.nc.ntration with c.imate seasonality remain largely unknown for the c.ntral *** study meas-ured litterfall produc.ion,leaf nutrient remobilization,and leaf area index on a forest plateau in the c.ntral *** was measured at monthly intervals during 2014,while nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,c.lc.um and mag-nesium c.nc.ntrations of leaf litter and c.nopy leaves were measured in the dry and rainy seasons,and remobilization rates *** area index was also rec.rded in the dry and rainy *** litterfall varied from 33.2(in the rainy season)to 87.6 g m^(-2) in the dry season,while leaf area index inc.eased slightly in the rainy *** seasonality had no effec. on c.nc.ntrations of nitrogen,c.lc.um,and magnesium,whereas phosphorous and potassium responded to rainfall seasonality *** phosphorous inc.eased,potassium dec.eased during the dry *** seasons,nitrogen,potassium,and phosphorous dec.eased in leaf litter;c.lc.um inc.eased in leaf litter,while magnesium remained unaffec.ed with leaf ***,the five nutrients had similar remobilization rates over the *** absenc. of c.imate seasonality on nutrient remobilization suggests that the c.rrent length of the dry season does not alter nutrient remobilization rates but this may c.ange as dry periods bec.me more prolonged in the future due to c.imate c.ange.

In this study,we identiﬁed the moisture sourc.s for the prec.pitation assoc.ated with tropic.l c.c.ones(Tc.)during the rapid intensiﬁc.tion(RI)proc.ss from 1980 to 2018 by applying a Lagrangian moisture sourc. diagnostic.*** detec.ed sixteen regions on a global sc.le for RI events distributed as follows:four in the North Atlantic.NATL),two in the c.ntral and East Pac.ﬁc.Oc.an(NEPAc.,the North Indian Oc.an(NIO)and South Indian Oc.an(SIO),and three in the South Pac.ﬁc.Oc.an(SPO)and the Western North Pac.ﬁc.Oc.an(WNP).The moisture uptake(MU)mostly was from the regions where Tc. underwent *** Western NATL,tropic.l NATL,c.ribbean Sea,the Gulf of Mexic. and the c.ntral Americ. and Mexic. landmass supported~85.4%of the prec.pitating moisture in the NATL,while the latter sourc. and the eastern North Pac.ﬁc.Oc.an provided the higher amount of moisture in NEPAc.~84.3%).The Arabian Sea,the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Peninsula were the major moisture sourc.s in NIO,c.ntributing approximately 81.3%.The eastern and western parts of the Indian Oc.an supplied most of the atmospheric.humidity in SIO(~83.8%).The c.mbined c.ntributions(~87.9%)from the western and c.ntral SPO and the c.ral Sea were notably higher in ***,Tc. in the WNP basin mostly rec.ived moisture from the western North Pac.ﬁc.Oc.an,the Philippine Sea and the c.ina Sea,ac.ounting for 80.1%.The remaining moisture support in eac. basin c.me from the summed c.ntributions of the remote ***,RI Tc. gained more moisture up to 2500 km from the c.c.one c.ntre than those slow intensiﬁc.tion(SI)and the total MU was approximately three times higher during RI than ***,the patterns of the MU differenc.s respond to the typic.l pathways of moisture transport in eac. basin.

The building stoc. is responsible for a large share of global energy c.nsumption and greenhouse gas emissions,therefore,it is c.itic.l to promote building retrofit to ac.ieve the proposed c.rbon and energy neutrality *** of the polic.es implemented in rec.nt years was the Energy Performanc. c.rtific.te(EPc.polic.,whic. proposes building stoc. benc.marking to identify buildings that require ***,researc. shows that these mec.anisms fail to engage stakeholders in the retrofit proc.ss bec.use it is widely seen as a mandatory and c.mplex *** study makes use of an EPc.database to integrate mac.ine learning tec.niques with multi-objec.ive optimization and develop an interfac. c.pable of(1)predic.ing a building’s,or household’s,energy needs;and(2)providing the user with optimum retrofit solutions,c.sts,and return on *** goal is to provide an open-sourc.,easy-to-use interfac. that guides the user in the building retrofit *** energy and EPc.predic.ion models show a c.effic.ent of determination(R2)of 0.84 and 0.79,and the optimization results for one c.se study EPc.with a 2000€budget limit inÉvora,Portugal,show dec.eases of up to 60%in energy needs and return on investments of up to 7 in 3 years.

The massive reduc.ions in anthropogenic.emissions resulting from the c.VID-19 loc.down provided a unique opportunity to evaluate the effec. of mitigation measures aiming to abate air *** Mexic.,the total loc.down period took plac. during the dry-hot season when biomass burning ac.ivity is ***,we investigate the role of biomass burning emissions on regional ozone levels in the Megalopolis of c.ntral *** studied period c.vers the loc.down phases 2 and 3,and the first month of the New *** applied a fac.or separation tec.nique and proc.ss analysis to estimate the pure and synergistic.c.ntributions of emission reduc.ions under loc.down and that from biomass burning to daily ozone maximum c.nc.ntrations in 7 metropolitan areas of different states in the *** results revealed that biomass burning plumes likely masked the effec. of massive reduc.ions from mobile emissions,impac.ed the PBL development during phase 3 and favored transition and mixed NO_(x)-limited and VOc.limited regional *** c.ntributed to inc.eased ozone produc.ion in the middle to lower PBL by c.anging the regional bac.ground levels whic. potentially c.uld bias high ozone produc.ion effic.enc. *** the Megalopolis c.ntribution to ec.nomic.and soc.etal development at national sc.le,our study suggests that ozone mitigation measures during the dry-hot season targeting mainly mobile emissions will likely be offset by biomass burning plumes.A regional and synergic.polic. aiming to c.ntrol biomass burning would help to reduc. the oc.urrenc. of high ozone levels in c.ntral Mexic. with the c.-benefit of tac.ling short-lived c.imate pollutants.

The goal was to c.mpare body mass index (BMI), waist c.rc.mferenc. (Wc., waist to height ratio (WHtR), and relative fat mas (RFM), to identify the best predic.or of overweight and obesity in university students from Mexic.. This is a c.oss-sec.ional survey with 697 university students from northern and c.ntral Mexic. (448 women, and 249 men aged 18 - 19 years). Data was c.llec.ed during 2018. Overweight and obesity were c.lc.lated from those indic.s and for both, female and male students, the order of c.rrelation between a pair of indic.s were WHtR vs. RFM > WHtR vs. Wc.> RFM vs. Wc.> WHtR vs. BMI > BMI vs. Wc.> RFM vs. BMI. It is c.nc.uded to use the WHtR and the RFM to better predic. overweight and obesity in young Mexic.n university students.
