Optimization of enzymatic hydrolysis of cassava to obtain fermentable sugars

This work evaluates the enzymatic hydrolysis of starch from cassava using pectinase,α-amylase,and amyloglucosidase.A central composite rotational design(CCRD)was carried out to evaluate the effects of amyloglucosidase,pectinase,reaction time,and solid to liquid *** the experiments were carried out in a bioreactor with working volume of 2 *** 98%efficiency hydrolysis was obtained,resulting in a concentration of total reducing sugar released of 160 g/*** was concluded that pectinase improved the hydrolysis of starch from *** time was found to be significant until 7 h of reaction.A solid to liquid ratio of 1.0 was considered suitable for hydrolysis of starch from *** was a significant variable in the process:after its addition to the reaction media,a 30%-50%increase in the amount of total reducing sugar released was *** optimal conditions the maximum productivity obtained was 22.9 g/(L.h).

Resin infiltrants have been effectively applied in dentistry to manage non-cavitated carious lesions in proximal dental ***,the common formulations are composed of inert methacrylate *** this study,we developed a novel resin infiltrant with microcapsules loaded with an ionic liquid(mC-IL),and analyzed the physical properties and cytotoxicity of the dental ***,the ionic liquid 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide(***2)was ***2 has previously shown antibacterial activity in a dental ***,mC-IL were synthesized by the deposition of a preformed *** mC-IL were analyzed for particle size and de-agglomeration effect via laser diffraction analysis and shape via scanning electron microscopy(SEm).The infiltrants were formulated,and the mC-IL were incorporated at 2.5%,5%,and 10 wt%.A group without mC-IL was used as a *** infiltrants were evaluated for ultimate tensile strength(UTS),contact angle,surface free energy(SFE),and *** mC-IL showed a mean particle size of 1.64(±0.08)μm,shriveled aspect,and a de-agglomeration profile suggestive of nanoparticles’presence in the synthesized *** were no differences in UTS among groups(p>0.05).The incorporation of 10 wt%of mC-IL increased the contact angle(pm 5 wt%reduced the SFE in comparison to the control group(pman cell viability was above 90%for all groups(p>0.05).The incorporation of microcapsules as a drug-delivery system for ionic liquids may be a promising strategy to improve dental restorative materials.

Objective:To characterize biofilm production by clinical(n=21)and environmental(n=11)isolates of Burkholderia pseudomallei and evaluate the production of proteases,hemolysins and ***:Initially,the 32 strains were evaluated for biofilm production in müller-Hinton broth-1%glucose(mH-1%glucose)and BHI broth-1%glucose,using the crystal violet staining ***,growing(48 h)and mature(72 h)biofilms were evaluated by confocal ***,the production of proteases,hemolysins and siderophores by planktonic aggregates,growing biofilms and mature biofilms was ***:All isolates produced biofilms,but clinical isolates had significantly higher biomass in both mH-1%glucose(Pmicroscopy showed thick biofilms,composed of multiple layers of cells,homogeneously arranged,with mature biofilms of clinical isolates presenting higher biomass(P=0.019)and thickness of the entire area(P=0.029),and lower roughness coefficient(P=0.007)than those of environmental *** production by growing biofilms was significantly greater than that of planktonic(Pmature biofilms(Pmolysin release by planktonic aggregates was higher than that of biofilms(Pmature biofilms presented higher production than growing biofilms(Pms than their environmental counterparts;protease and siderophores seem important for growth and maintenance of Burkholderia pseudomallei biofilms.

moringa oleifera Lam(moringaceae) is a plant with high nutritional and medicinal value. Native to India, it is now widely distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Its different parts are sources of proteins, vitamins and minerals and present different pharmacological and biotechnological potential. moreover, m. oleifera seeds are widely used in water and effluent treatment, for their coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation properties, their ability of improving water quality, by reducing organic matter and microbial load, with special applicability in intensive animal production systems, such as aquaculture. In addition, due to its high nutritional value and several medicinal properties, this tree may act as a nutritional and medical alternative for socially neglected populations. In this context, this review gathers information on m. oleifera, emphasizing its chemical constituents, nutritional, pharmacological and antimicrobial properties, applications in the treatment of water effluents, and ecological and social aspects.
