Methionine sources and genotype affect embryonic intestinal development, antioxidants, tight junctions, and growth-related gene expression in chickens

Methionine(Met) is an essential and first limiting amino acid in the poultry diet that plays a significant role in chicken embryonic development and growth. The present study examined the effect of in ovo injection of DL-Met and L-Met sources and genotypes on chicken embryonic-intestinal development and health. Fertilized eggs of the two genotypes, TETRA-SL layer hybrid(TSL)—commercial layer hybrid and Hungarian Partridge colored hen breed(HPC)—a native genotype, were randomly distributed into four treatments for each genotype. The treatment groups include the following: 1) control non-injected eggs(NoIn); 2) saline-injected(SaIn); 3) DL-Met injected(DLM); and 4) L-Met injected(LM). The in ovo injection was carried out on 17.5 d of embryonic development; after hatching, eight chicks per group were sacrificed, and the jejunum was extracted for analysis. The results showed that both DLM and LM groups had enhanced intestinal development as evidenced by increased villus width, villus height, and villus area(P tathione(GSH) content, glutathione S-transferase 3 alpha(GST3), occludin(OCLN) gene expression and increased villus height to crypt depth ratio in the TSL genotype than the LM group(P tase 1(SOD1), and GST3 genes than the TSL genotype(P rently under normal conditions. Genotypes also influenced the expression of intestinal antioxidants, tight junction, and growth-related genes.

波兰向中国出口金属及金属制品的比较优势与竞争力研究

21世纪以来,波兰的出口贸易得到了长足的发展,因此,其国际地位得到提升。波兰与中国建交以来,两国一直保持着良好的经贸合作关系。具体表现为:两国在货物贸易领域的合作规模和增速都在提升,出口结构也在不断优化、贸易发展的联系更加紧密。经过10多年的发展,波兰对中国在金属与金属制品的出口比较优势进一步显现;与此同时,波兰与中国之间的货物贸易往来也不断拓宽和深入。波兰对中国出口贸易存在的主要问题是目前巨大的贸易逆差和货物贸易差异,这也是本研究可以更好地了解当前贸易趋势的原因,其结果可能有助于提高波兰对中国出口能力。从不同阶段来看,波兰在中国出口的产品结构上有所调整和优化,波兰产品比较优势的变化随着本国产业结构的调整而变化。国际上,波兰在金属出口领域面临着激烈的竞争;中国丰富的资源为波兰与中国两国经贸关系的进一步发展提供了新的思路和发展机遇。本文基于显性比较优势与竞争力理论,贸易结构和波兰向中国出口分析方法,描绘了双边贸易结构,重点位于分析波兰对中国的金属和金属产品出口。利用2010—2017年波中贸易数据来分析波兰金属和金属制品对中国市场出口的竞争力和比较优势。同时为了获得精确的结果本文使用显性比较优势指数、区域显性比较优势指数、产业内贸易指数和贸易强度指数衡量波中两国贸易的比较优势与竞争力。结果显示,波兰对全球金属出口有很强的优势,但是对中国的金属领域出口中,只有铜及铜制品显示了比较大的优势。波兰在出口方面有竞争力的制品外,其产业内部贸易在经历了多年下降趋势之后,终于在2016年呈现上升趋势。波兰和中国之间的进出口态势保持稳定,而波兰从中国的进口强度要超过出口的十倍。

The activation of iron oxide Fischer–Tropsch Synthesis(FTS) catalysts was investigated during pretreatment: reduction in hydrogen followed by carburization in either CO or syngas mixture, or simultaneously reduction and carburization in syngas. A combination of different complementary in situ techniques was used to gain insight into the behavior of Fe-based FTS catalysts during activation. In situ XRD was used to identify the crystalline structures present during both reduction in hydrogen and carburization. An increase in reduction rate was established when increasing the temperature. A complete reduction was demonstrated in the ETEM and a grain size dependency was proven, i.e. bigger grains need higher temperature in order to reduce. XPS and XAS both indicate the formation of a small amount of carbonaceous species at the surface of the bulk metallic iron during carburization.

Complicated fecal microbiota transplantation in a tetraplegic patient with severe Clostridium difficile infection

A 65-year-old male suffering from acute spinal cord injury leading to incomplete tetraplegia presented with severe recurrent Clostridium difficile(C. difficile) infection subsequent to antibiotic treatment for pneumonia. After a history of ineffective antimicrobial therapies, including metronidazole, vancomycin, fidaxomicin, rifaximin and tigecycline, leading to several relapses, the patient underwent colonoscopic fecal microbiota transplantation from his healthy son. Four days subsequent to the procedure, the patient showed a systemic inflammation response syndrome. Without detecting an infectious cause, the patient received antimicrobial treatment, including tigecycline, metronidazole, vancomycin via polyethylene glycol and an additional enema for a period of seven days, leading to a prompt recovery and no reported C. difficile infection relapse during a 12 wk follow up.
