Coral trout Plectropomus leopardus is a high-economical value of marine fish commodity.So,the larviculture for this species should be performed in hatchery scale for their sustainability.One of the important thing in larval stage is hormonal mechanisms.Thyroid hormone is known plays an important role in the metamorphosis of marine fish larvae.The source of that hormone is assumed derived from zooplankton as their live feeds.The live feeds commonly used for marine fish larvae in hatchery are zooplankton copepods and rotifers.The purpose of this research to determine the influence of feeding copepods and rotifers on thyroid hormone profile activity,consisted of triiodothyronine(T3)and thyroxine(T4),related to the metamorphoses of coral trout larvae.The research was conducted using three feeding schemes:copepods(A),copepods-rotifers(B),and rotifers(C).It was done for 50 days After Hatching(dAH).The results showed that larvae from treatment(A)and(B)achieved the highest level of T3 and T4 earlier at 30 dAH,which indicated that both of those larvae have entered the metamorphosis stage earlier.On the other hand,larvae from treatment(C)achieved it and entered the metamorphosis stage later at 40 dAH.In addition,iodine levels in the copepods were significantly higher than those of in rotifers(Pd on this research,live feeds copepods and rotifers have effect on thyroid hormone activity.Copepods have better potential in accelerating the metamorphosis achievement of coral trout larvae with the fact that they have higher iodine content.

Objective:Awareness regarding the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation are commonly neglected in Asian countries.This study sought to evaluate the ultraviolet radiation knowledge and photoprotective behaviors of university students in Indonesia.Methods:This observational cross-sectional was conducted at Pelita Harapan University,Indonesia.Results:A total of 89(45.4%)medical students and 107(54.6%)nonmedical students participated in this study.Their mean age was 21.03±2.03 years,and 46.4%of them had Fitzpatrick type III skin.Medical students as well as older students exhibited a higher level of knowledge regarding photoprotection(P≤0.05).Factors related to good photoprotective behaviors were sex,older age,and average expenditure on skincare.Further analysis revealed that a high level of knowledge regarding photoprotection was related to acceptable photoprotective behaviors(P=0.01;odds ratio=1.97;95%confidence interval=1.13-3.54).Conclusions:Knowledge regarding sun-related damage and practice of photoprotective behaviors were low among the participants.The results indicate that formal education and academic subjects should incorporate the topic of sun-related damage and promote the practice of photoprotective behaviors early on to increase awareness among populations.

The construction of the concept of Latin America has been through different processes regarding its structure and acceptance,from the colonial period to the automatic realignment to the United States,with rare exceptions,and a reorganization with the emergence of multilateralism and the multipolar world.The abstraction,hitherto almost an axiom in the subcontinent,that it is a western region,leads us to the elaboration of this article,which seeks to present Latin America's post-western and de-westernized character in an environment of restructuration of its political economy,its actors,scenarios and,finally,theories.Thus,we present here a review of the state of the art political economy of Latin America and its perspectives in this shifting world,especially in the context of the COVId-19 pandemic.

The results of studies carried out using a computer programme simulating the coagulation of suspensions containing spherical sol particles and spherical coagulant particles are reported.The influence of the degree of dispersion of the system on the coagulation reaction kinetics was investigated. The obtained results of kinetic studies were tested in the light of classical Müller–Smoluchowski equations. The influence of the physical properties of the coagulant,such as size, density and mass, on the coagulation rate was tested. It was found that within the range described in this paper, the rate of the simulated coagulation process fulfils both the kinetic equation of a first-order reaction, and the kinetic equation of a second-order reaction.Within the tested range, a significant influence of the mass and size of the coagulant on the coagulation rate was ascertained. The kinetic Müller–Smoluchowski dependence is fulfilled in a broader range of the degree of dispersion, when the coagulant particle mass and the sol particle mass are equal. When the particle mass increases with an increase in the particle radius, the coagulation rate increases faster that it would result from the Müller＇s dependence.

Viticulture in Argentina is an important socioeconomic sector,reflected in a significant wine market and tourism.However,climate change and related extreme events are serious concerns.The main issues are heatwaves,hail-storms,and heavy rainfall,resulting in damage to vineyards.While climate change impacts have already been discussed for regions such as the Mediterranean,the literature lacks an up-to-date overview of Argentine viticul-ture and potential mitigation solutions.In a country culturally and economically connected to the world of wine,it is strategic to bridge this gap to be prepared for a climatically adverse future.This perspective paper presents an overview of Argentine viticulture and its relationship to climate change.We focus on the Mendoza region,one of the most productive areas and home to cultural landscapes where internationally recognized wines are produced.Climate change is already occurring,a fact we observed by analyzing data from the past decades.We discussed how heatwaves in the lowlands drive farmers to move to the Andes slopes looking for more favorable conditions.But new threats arise,such as extreme rainfall.due to surface hydrological processes,they can cause land degradation and compromise vineyards.We investigate these phenomena in detail,highlighting how they represent a growing challenge that must be addressed for the sustainable development of future viticulture in the area.Therefore,we propose mitigation strategies for more resilient production,drawing inspiration from the Sustainable development Goals and suggesting a framework that can be extended to broader contexts worldwide。

Nitrogen enhanced drainage of CO2 rich coal seams for mining

Coal seams with high CO_2 gas contents can be difficult to drain gas for outburst management. Coal has a high affinity for CO_2 with adsorption capacities typically twice that of CH_4. This paper presents an analysis of nitrogen injection into coal to enhance drainage of high CO_2 gas contents. Core flooding experiments were conducted where nitrogen was injected into coal core samples from two Australian coal mining basins with initial CO_2 gas contents and pressures that could be encountered during underground mining. Nitrogen effectively displaced the CO_2 with mass balance analysis finding there was only approximately 6%–7% of the original CO_2 gas content residual at the end of the core flood. Using a modified version of the SIMEd II reservoir simulator, the core flooding experiments were history matched to determine the nitrogen and methane sorption times. It was found that a triple porosity model(a simple extension of the Warren and Root dual porosity model) was required to accurately describe the core flood observations. The estimated model properties were then used in reservoir simulation studies comparing enhanced drainage with conventional drainage with underground in seam boreholes. For the cases considered, underground in seam boreholes were found to provide shorter drainage lead times than enhanced drainage to meet a safe gas content for outburst management.

Atopic dermatitis(Ad)is a chronic,relapsing,multifactorial inflammatory disease with genetic,environmental,and immunological characteristics.The quality of life and sleep of patients and their families are affected by Ad,which triggers stress,described as one of the factors that worsens Ad.Salivary biomarkers such as cortisol,alpha-amylase,chromogranin A,and melatonin have been associated with stress and sleep disturbances.Therefore,the evaluation of stress and sleep disorders using salivary biomarkers in Ad patients is important.This review aims to describe the possible relationship between atopic dermatitis and stress,sleep disorders,and salivary biomarkers,seeking to contribute to better understanding and clinical management of Ad.This descriptive study is characterized as a narrative literature review.A literature search was conducted of studies published in English and Portuguese between January 2012 and October 2022 that are available in electronic media from various databases,such as Scientific Electronic Library Online,Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences,and PubMed.Ad is associated with different degrees of impact on the lives of individuals who present with the disease.Psychological stress may induce changes in saliva composition and worsen Ad;at the same time,the severity of the disease may be associated with emotional impact.Further studies are needed to assess and correlate Ad severity,stress,and sleep disturbances with salivary biomarkers in order to better understand this association.

Bacille-Calmette-Guerin modulates human macrophage and dendritic cell response to SARS-CoV-2 S-glycoprotein

Background:Given that epidemiological evidence suggests a potential protective role for Bacille-Calmette-Guerin against COVId-19,we aimed to explore whether pre-exposure of human monocyte-derived macrophages and dendritic cells to BCG could modulate their response to SARS-CoV-2 S-glycoprotein.Methods:dual THP-1 cells containing 2 reporter plasmids for transcription factors NF-κB,and IRF were differ-entiated into macrophages over 3 days using phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate,or into dendritic cells over 6 days using commercial monocyte-dencritic cell differentiation media and matured with recombinant tumor necrosis factor-α.Cells were exposed to BCG for 24 h and then stimulated with SARS-CoV-2 S-glycoprotein for 24 hours.Results:Pre-exposure of human macrophages and dCs to BCG increased IRF and NF-kb activation in response to the SARS-CoV-2 S-glycoprotein.Conclusions:Our results showed that pre-exposure of both types of cells to BCG exhibited an increase in inflam-matory transcription factors upon stimulation with S-glycoprotein.BCG-induced trained immunity may be an important tool for reducing susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection and severity of COVId-19.Our findings help in the design of future BCG-based therapeutic approaches in the treatment of diseases caused by viral infections.

Objective The COVId-19 pandemic had an impact on everyday life and in general,reduced the health-related quality of life(HRQoL)of adolescents.In this study,we assess the HRQoL of adolescents with type 1 diabetes(T1d)in Germany since the second wave of the COVId-19 pandemic by using self-report and parent-proxy reports,to identify risk factors,to compare to peers and to examine the agreement of HRQoL between parents and their children.Methods A total of 445 adolescents(12–18 years)and 413 parents participated in an anonymous cross-sectional survey conducted at three German diabetes centres from January 2021 to June 2022.Inclusion criteria were diabetes duration≥1year and German-speaking.Teen HRQoL was assessed by using self-report and parent-proxy report versions of the KIdSCREEN-10 index.Results The majority of adolescents reported average(75.5%)HRQoL.Approximately 11.3%of teens reported high and 13.2%low HRQoL.Teen’s female gender,older age,higher diabetes burden and parental depression symptoms contributed to lower self-reported HRQoL among teens.For parent-proxy reports,increasing diabetes burdens,parental depression symptoms,non-migrant status,high education and ketoacidosis contributed to lower scores on teen HRQoL.The mean scores of the KIdSCREEN-10 index for adolescents did not differ from the German norm.In comparison to healthy peers during the first wave of the pandemic,adolescents in the current study reported higher HRQoL.The overall teen-parent agreement was fair although parents reported significantly lower teen HRQoL than adolescents did.Conclusions HRQoL of most adolescents with T1d during the COVId-19 pandemic was average with parents reporting significantly lower scores.Self-reported and parent-proxy-reported HRQoL and the level of agreement due to different perspectives can provide important information for clinical care and intervention planning.
