The municipality of Boa Nova,in northeastern Brazil,is in an ecotone zone between the Caatinga and Atlantic Forest phytogeographic *** transition phytophysiognomy is seasonal forest and known locally as mata de cipó.In these phytophysiognomies there are lajedos,which are rock outcrops colonized by vegetation welladapted to extreme microclimatic variation and vegetation diversity is affected by the vegetation types of the surrounding *** to the singularity of these environments and the relevance of floristic studies for conservation,this work aimed to identify the species richness and compare the similarity of the flora on four rock outcrops in Boa *** flora was surveyed during exploratory walks along lajedos between 2016 and *** total,162 species were identified on the Boa Nova *** flora has a composition and structure similar to semiarid outcrops,as well as endemic species that also occur in surrounding *** the proximity,a similarity index revealed there is floristic dissimilarity between the *** new occurrences were recorded for the region,five species are threatened with extinction(Aosa gilgiana,Ficus cyclophylla,Hippeastrum stigmovittatum,Pleroma caatingae and Trixis pruskii),and 43 species are common in anthropogenic *** reinforces the importance of actions to conserve these areas.

Testing for detecting the infection by sARs-CoV-2 is the bridge between the lockdown and the opening of *** this paper we modelled and simulated a test-trace-andquarantine strategy to control the COVID-19 outbreak in the state of são Paulo,*** state of são Paulo failed to adopt an effective social distancing strategy,reaching at most 59%in late March and started to relax the measures in late June,dropping to 41%in 08 ***,são Paulo relies heavily on a massive testing strategy in the attempt to control the *** alternative strategies combined with economic evaluations were *** strategy included indiscriminately testing the entire population of the state,reaching more than 40 million people at a maximum cost of 2.25 billion UsD,that would reduce the total number of cases by the end of 2020 by 90%.The second strategy investigated testing only symptomatic cases and their immediate contacts e this strategy reached a maximum cost of 150 million UsD but also reduced the number of cases by 90%.The conclusion is that if the state of são Paulo had decided to adopt the simulated strategy on April the 1st,it would have been possible to reduce the total number of cases by 90%at a cost of 2.25 billion Us dollars for the indiscriminate strategy but at a much smaller cost of 125 million Us dollars for the selective testing of symptomatic cases and their contacts.

The design of materials and identification of optimal processing parameters constitute a complex and challenging task,necessitating efficient utilization of available *** Optimization(BO)has gained popularity in materials design due to its ability to work with minimal ***,many BO-based frameworks predominantly rely on statistical information,in the form of input-output data,and assume black-box objective *** practice,designers often possess knowledge of the underlying physical laws governing a material system,rendering the objective function not entirely black-box,as some information is partially *** this study,we propose a physics-informed BO approach that integrates physics-infused kernels to effectively leverage both statistical and physical information in the decision-making *** demonstrate that this method significantly improves decision-making efficiency and enables more data-efficient *** applicability of this approach is showcased through the design of NiTi shape memory alloys,where the optimal processing parameters are identified to maximize the transformation temperature.

The design of alloys for use in gas turbine engine blades is a complex task that involves balancing multiple objectives and *** alloys must be ductile at room temperature and retain their yield strength at high temperatures,as well as possess low density,high thermal conductivity,narrow solidification range,high solidus temperature,and a small linear thermal expansion *** Integrated Computational Materials Engineering(ICME)methods are not sufficient for exploring combinatorially-vast alloy design spaces,optimizing for multiple objectives,nor ensuring that multiple constraints are *** this work,we propose an approach for solving a constrained multi-objective materials design problem over a large composition space,specifically focusing on the Mo-Nb-Ti-V-W system as a representative Multi-Principal Element Alloy(MPEA)for potential use in next-generation gas turbine *** approach is able to learn and adapt to unknown constraints in the design space,making decisions about the best course of action at each stage of the *** a result,we identify 21 Pareto-optimal alloys that satisfy all *** proposed framework is significantly more efficient and faster than a brute force approach.

Bayesian optimization(BO)is an indispensable tool to optimize objective functions that either do not have known functional forms or are expensive to ***,optimal experimental design is always conducted within the workflow of BO leading to more efficient exploration of the design space compared to traditional *** can have a significant impact on modern scientific discovery,in particular autonomous materials discovery,which can be viewed as an optimization problem aimed at looking for the maximum(or minimum)point for the desired materials *** performance of BO-based experimental design depends not only on the adopted acquisition function but also on the surrogate models that help to approximate underlying objective *** this paper,we propose a fully autonomous experimental design framework that uses more adaptive and flexible Bayesian surrogate models in a BO procedure,namely Bayesian multivariate adaptive regression splines and Bayesian additive regression *** can overcome the weaknesses of widely used Gaussian process-based methods when faced with relatively high-dimensional design space or non-smooth patterns of objective *** simulation studies and real-world materials science case studies demonstrate their enhanced search efficiency and robustness.

Functional traits shape size-dependent growth and mortality rates of dry forest tree species

Aims Functional traits have emerged as an important tool to evaluate plant ***,the environmental conditions and ecological pressures that plants face change with their size,and the relationship between traits and plant performance should therefore be size-dependent,which has rarely been *** Here,we evaluated over a broad range of tree sizes the interspe-cific relationship between tree growth and mortality and eight func-tional stem,leaf and seed *** did so across 59 tree species in Brazilian dry forests and evaluated whether the relationships found for wet forest types in the literature also hold for dry forests,where water rather than light might limit tree *** Findings We indeed found a strong size-dependent relationship between demographic rates and functional *** small sizes,when trees are in the shaded understory,species with functional trait values that enhance light capture or shade tolerance(*** maximum adult stature,taller heights,wider crowns,higher seed mass)have higher growth and/or lower mortality rates(MR).This relationship disappears at larger sizes when trees attain better light conditions in the *** adaptations play only a role at larger tree sizes;once trees are in the dry and exposed canopy,species with higher wood density(an indicator of cavitation resistance)have lower *** study shows that both drought and shade adaptations are important in this dry forest,and that the relationships between func-tional traits and plant performance changes with plant *** size should therefore explicitly be included as an axis of variation in functional analyses,to better understand the relationship between functional traits and demographic rates.

Environment-dependent attack rates of cryptic and aposematic butterflies

Many organisms have evolved adaptive coloration that reduces their risk of predation. Cryptic colo- ration reduces the likelihood of detection/recognition by potential predators, while warning or aposematic coloration advertises unprofitability and thereby reduces the likelihood of attack. Although some studies show that aposematic coloration functions better at decreasing attack rate than crypsis, recent work has suggested and demonstrated that crypsis and aposematism are both successful strategies for avoiding predation. Furthermore, the visual environment （e.g., ambient lighting, background） affects the ability for predators to detect prey. We investigated these 2 related hypoth- eses using 2 well-known visually aposematic species of Heliconius butterflies, which occupy differ- ent habitats （open-canopy vs. closed-canopy）, and one palatable, cryptic, generalist species Junonia coenia. We tested if the differently colored butterflies differ in attack rates by placing plasti- cine models of each of the 3 species in 2 different tropical habitats where the butterflies naturally occur： disturbed, open-canopy habitat and forested, closed-canopy habitat. The cryptic model had fewer attacks than one of the aposematic models. Predation rates differed between the 2 habitats, with the open habitat having much higher predation. However, we did not find an interaction between species and habitat type, which is perplexing due to the different aposematic phenotypes naturally occurring in different habitats. Our findings suggest that during the Panamanian dry sea- son avian predation on perched butterflies is not a leading cause in habitat segregation between the 2 aposematic species and demonstrate that cryptically colored animals at rest may be better than aposematic prey at avoiding avian attacks in certain environments.

Classification method is a formula, logical description generalizing characteristics of objects of related area. Nowadays, billions of smart objects are immersed in the environment, sensing, interacting, and cooperating with each other to enable efficient services. When we think about IoT, classification is a major challenge particularly if our technology is international level applicable. so, this limitation needs clear and deep analysis of the existing classification matrixes and gives some future directions depending on the different researches in the area. The paper surveys the current state-of-art in the classification of IoT. First, we try to explain commonly existing classification matrixes;second, cooperation of different methods defending on classification matrixes used. Then analyses challenges that IoT faced from classification angle and finally we give some direction for future IoT classification.

dengue Epidemiology in a Brazilian Community

dengue is a major vector-borne disease and has motivated health surveillance systems to implement various measures to control it. The epidemiological characterization of dengue occurrence in a community is an important step to foster control activities. We carried out an epidemiological study of the notified and confirmed cases of dengue, from 2000 to 2005, in Guarulhos, state of são Paulo, Brazil. A statistical analysis was performed to test the differences, by sex and age, between the database and the individuals of the population. We also performed a time series analysis of the cases from 2000 to 2007. No statistically significant differences (P > 0.05) were observed between the proportions for each sex in the data base and in the city population, and in the categories of 15 - 19 years, 20 - 24 years, 25 - 29 years, 55 - 59 years, 60 - 64 years and 70 - 74 years when compared with the corresponding age intervals in the population. In the other age intervals, statistically significant differences were observed (P served a cyclic variation in the dengue incidence, between 2000 and 2007, with an alternation of two years with a smaller number of cases (2000-2001 and 2004-2005) and two years with a larger number of cases (2002-2003 and 2006-2007). In the seasonality analysis, the number of cases between February and May was higher than the monthly average. Analyzing the spatial distribution of the cases, we observed the process of increasing endemicity of dengue.

OBJECTIVEs Elderly patients show a higher incidence of ischemic and bleeding events after percutaneous transluminal coron-ary intervention(PCI).We sought to investigate outcomes in elderly patients treated with antithrombotic strategy guided by bleeding and ischemic risks after revascularization with last generation everolimus-eluting stent(EEs).METHODs Prospective multicenter registry including patients over 75 years revascularized with EEs and antithrombotic ther-apy guided by clinical presentation,PCI complexity and PRECIsE DAPT ***-primary safety endpoints were:(1)composite of cardiac death,myocardial infarction and stent thrombosis and;(2)bleeding(BARC 2-5).Primary efficacy endpoint was target lesion revascularization.A matched group of patients revascularized with current drug-eluting stents and no such tailored antith-rombotic therapy was used as *** Finally,1064 patients were included in sIERRA-75 cohort,80.8±4.2 years,36.6%women,71%acute coronary syn-dromes(ACs)and 53.6%complex ***-primary safety endpoint of major adverse cardiovascular events was met in 6.2%,co-primary safety endpoint of bleeding in 7.8%and primary efficacy endpoint of TKLR in 1.5%.The multivariable adjusted model showed no significant association of the prescribed short/long dual antiplatelet therapy(DAPT)durations with any endpoint suggesting a well tailored *** stent thrombosis reported in the subgroup with 1-3 months DAPT *** compared to control group,bleeding BARC 2-5 was significantly lower in sIERRA-75 group(7.4%vs.10.2%,P=0.04)as well as the net safety-efficacy endpoint(14.3%vs.18.5%,P=0.02).CONCLUsIONs In elderly population,the application of this risks-adjusted antithrombotic protocol after revascularization with last generation EEs seems to be associated with an improved prognosis in terms of ischemic and bleeding outcomes.
