Two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)have attracted tremendous interest as functional materials due to their exceptionally diverse and tunable properties,especially in their *** addition to the conventional armchair and zigzag edges common to hexagonal 2D materials,more complex edge reconstructions can be realized through careful control over the synthesis ***,the whole family of synthesizable,reconstructed edges remains poorly ***,we develop a computational approach integrating ensemble-generation,force-relaxation,and electronic-structure calculations to systematically and efficiently discover additional reconstructed edges and screen their functional properties.

Objective: To identify and isolate the chemical compounds of Phaleria macrocarpa(***) fruit ethanolic ***: Dried fruit of *** was extracted with 90% ethanol and partitioned between n-hexane/H_2O and ethyl acetate/H_*** organic layer was fractionated by various stationary phase and identified by using combined data of 1D [(proton nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR), carbon-13 NMR)], 2D-NMR(heteronuclear multiplequantum correlation and heteronuclear multiple-bond correlation), and mass ***: Purification of n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions from ethanolic extract of *** fruit resulted in isolation of nine ***: A new compound was isolated and identified as glyceryl ***, two xanthones, which are 1,7-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethoxyxanthone and 1,6,7-trihydroxy-3-methoxyxanthone, are firstly reported to be isolated from ***.

Reports of amber predating the Lower Cretaceous are unusual and scarce; they mostly refer to amber pieces of millimetric dimension. In the present study, we report the discovery of 10 new outcrops of jurassic amber in Lebanon. Some of these had large centimetric-sized pieces of amber. The new localities are described, amber is characterized, and its infrared spectra given. Although the new jurassic amber yielded to date no more than fungal inclusions, this material is significant and promising. The discovery, of several jurassic outcrops provides crucial information on the prevailing paleoenvironment of that time.

The subprime crisis was quite damaging for hedge *** the local projection method(jordà2004,2005,2009),we forecast the dynamic responses of the betas of hedge fund strategies to macroeconomic and financial shocks—especially volatility and illiquidity shocks—over the subprime crisis in order to investigate their market timing *** a robustness check,using TVAR(Balke 2000),we simulate the reaction of hedge fund strategies’betas in extreme scenarios allowing moderate and strong adverse *** results show that the behavior of hedge fund strategies regarding the monitoring of systematic risk is highly nonlinear in extreme scenarios—especially during the subprime *** find that countercyclical strategies have an investment technology which differs from procyclical *** crises,the former seek to capture non-traditional risk premia by deliberately increasing their systematic risk while the later focus more on minimizing *** results suggest that the hedge fund strategies’betas respond more to illiquidity uncertainty than to illiquidity risk during *** find that illiquidity and VIX shocks are the major drivers of systemic risk in the hedge fund industry.

Hong Kong has a high concentration of developments on hilly terrain in close proximity to man-made slopes and natural *** of the high seasonal rainfall,these man-made slopes and natural hillsides would pose a risk to the public as manifested by a death toll of 470 people due to landslides since the late *** 1977,the Government of the Hong Kong SAR embarked on a systematic programme,known as the Landslip Preventive Measure(LPM)Programme,to retroft substandard man-made *** 1977 to 2010,about 4500 substandard government man-made slopes have been upgraded through engineering *** the period,the Programme had evolved progressively in response to Government’s internal demand for continuous improvement and rising public expectation for slope *** 2010,the Government implemented the Landslip Prevention and Mitigation(LPMit)Programme to dovetail with the LPM Programme,with the focus on retroftting the remaining moderate-risk substandard man-made slopes and mitigating systematically the natural terrain landslide risk pursuant to the"react-to-known"hazard *** paper presents the evolution of the LPM and LPMit Programmes as well as the insight on landslide prevention and mitigation through engineering works.

Greenhouse production systems typically involve growing multiple crop types simultaneously, including ornamentals and vegetables. Therefore, greenhouse producers commonly deal with multiple pest complexes. Two important insect pests of greenhouse-grown horticultural crops are fungus gnats (Bradysia spp.) and western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis). A plant protection strategy that can be used to manage both pests is biological control. The rove beetle (Dalotia coriaria) and insidious flower bug (Orius insidiosus) are generalist predators commercially available for use in greenhouse production systems targeting fungus gnats and the western flower thrips. This article describes the biology, behavior, ecology, and role of both natural enemies in greenhouse production systems, and discusses the direct and indirect effects of pesticides (insecticides, miticides, and fungicides) on D. coriaria and O. inisidiosus.
