To evaluate an artificial insemination program in postpartum Bos indicus cows and by using deterministic models, to estimate the possible economic advantages of insemination by appointment over detected estrus, sixty-three multiparous animals were synchronized using a progestagen device inserted at day 31 and withdrawn after 9 days (average time for withdrawal was 40.9 ± 6.8 days). Cows were observed continuously from 0700 to 1800 during 72 h. The percentage of animals detected positive to estrus by riding behavior was 43.4%, transrectal palpation, 22% and heat detector patches, 4.6%. The percentage of cows ovulating as evidenced by progesterone samples taken at 9 and 11 days after the average estrus response was 73%. The economical assessment by using the values obtained in the present study afforded that the cost of semen, ovulation rate and fertility point to a definitive advantage of using AI at fixed time over a program based on estrus detection.

[背景]产前暴露于双酚A（BPA）及邻苯二甲酸酯会影响胎儿发育；然而该类研究很少，且得出的结果不一致。[目的]对一个西班牙出生队列中488对母婴进行研究，评估产前暴露于BPA及邻苯二甲酸酯是否与胎儿发育相关。[方法]检测第一和第三孕期两次尿液样本中BPA及8种邻苯二甲酸酯[4种邻苯二甲酸二（2-乙基己基）酯代谢物（DEHPm），邻苯二甲酸单卞酯（MBzP）以及3种低分子量邻苯二甲酸酯代谢物（LMWPm）]。另外，估计股骨长度（FL）、头围（HC）、腹围（AC）、双顶径（BPD）的生长曲线，估计孕期（12—20周，20～34周）的胎儿体重，并测量出生体重、出生长度、出生头围以及胎盘重量。[结果]总体上，结果并不支持孕期暴露于BPA或DEHPm与胎儿发育参数相关。产前MBzP暴露与20～34孕周的FL呈正相关，MBzP浓度每增加一倍，平均FL增加3．7％（95％CI：0．75，6．63％）。MBzP与男婴出生体重呈正相关（48g；95％CI：6，90），但在女婴中没有相关性（-27g；95％CI：-79，25）（交互作用P=0．04）。LMWPm邻苯二甲酸单丁酯（MnBP）与12—20孕周的HC呈负相关[平均HC降低了4．88％（95％CI：-8．36，-1．36％）]。[结论]本研究首次将暴露生物标志重复测量值与胎儿期多种发育参数相结合，发现暴露于BPA或邻苯二甲酸酯与胎儿发育不相关。邻苯二甲酸酯代谢物MBzP与MnBP与部分胎儿发育参数相关，但这些结果还需要重复验证。

Charcoal gasification could mitigate the energetic problems in the rural zones since these regions have considerable amounts of wood, which is the base of such a fuel available. This paper presents some CFD （computational fluid dynamic） predictions of the experimental results obtained from the fixed bed gasification of charcoal made in a pilot-scale downdraft reactor using air, which was designed and built by the Research Group in Clean Development Mechanisms and Energy Management, from the National University of Colombia. The quality of the syngas obtained from the process was evaluated through the CO and CO2 percentages measured in its composition. The performance at various air flow rates （measured at the system entrance, through an analog flow meter） is evaluated with the help of 11 thermocouples, which give the information to create a temperature profile, and three load cells to measure the solid fuel conversion rate. To simulate the process, the information from temperature profile, charcoal proximate analysis, air flow meter and load cells were taken as inputs and the syngas composition was obtained as the result from the calculation. The domain was defined as 2D with an axis-symmetric description, using quads as mesh elements. The calculation and results were performed in a CFD commercial code widely used for this type of simulations： ANSYS FLUENT. The predictions made by the software were validated with the experimental results obtained in the laboratory.

Impact of Prophylactic Betamethasone Indication on the Neonatal Outcome in 38-Week Pregnancies Prior to Elective Cesarean Section

Objective: To assess whether the use of prenatal betamethasone in pregnancies with elective Caesarean section (C-section) at 38 weeks has a similar risk of adverse neonatal respiratory outcomes than elective C-section at 39 weeks. Methods: Retrospective cohort study of pregnant patients with singleton pregnancies and elective C-section at term in a one-year period. Cases were C-section at 38 weeks of gestation with a complete course of betamethasone started 48-hours before. As a control group, pregnancies with a C-section at 39 weeks without betamethasone were included. Results: During the study period, 186 patients were included. Of these, 91 were delivered at 38 weeks and 95 at 39 weeks. There were no significant differences in maternal age and parity. Moreover, there were no significant differences in respiratory complications (respiratory distress syndrome [RDS] = 0% vs 1.1%;p = 1.0, transitory tachypnea [TT] = 0% vs 0%) and admission to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (8.8% vs 6.3%;p = 0.7) between deliveries at 38 weeks and 39 weeks, respectively. Introduction: The abdominal approach for the treatment of rectal tumors is associated with a considerable rate of morbidity. Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) is an alternative technique that is less invasive than radical surgery, and therefore has a lower associated morbidity. Moreover, with proper patient selection, TEM presents oncological outcomes comparable to radical surgery. The aim of this study is to review our results obtained with TEM and discuss its role in the treatment of malignant rectal lesions. Patients and Methods: A prospective descriptive study from June 2008 until February 2011. The indications for TEM were: early rectal neoplastic lesions (T1N0M0) with good prognostic factors;neoplastic lesions in more advanced stages in selected patients (high surgical risk, refusal of radical surgery or stoma, and palliative intention). Results: Resection by TEM was performed on 19 patients. The average hospital stay was 5.7 days with an associated morbidity of 16.7%. R0 resection was 88.8%. During the follow-up of 15 (3 - 31) months, no recurrence has been shown. Conclusions: TEM is a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of selected early malignant rectal lesions and is associated with low morbidity. It is a therapeutic strategy based on a multidisciplinary team, careful patient selection, an audited surgical technique and a strict follow-up protocol.

Laurel forests are quite relevant for biodiversity conservation and are among the island ecosystems most severely damaged by human *** the past,Canary laurel forests have been greatly altered by logging,livestock and *** remains of laurel forests are currently protected in the Canary Islands(Spain).However,we miss basic information needed for their restoration and adaptive management,such as tree longevity,growth potential and responsiveness to natural and anthropogenic *** dendrochronological methods,we studied how forest dynamic is related to land-use change and windstorms in two well-preserved laurel forests on Tenerife *** cores were collected from over 80 trees per stand at three stands per *** used ring-width series to estimate tree ages and calculate annual basal area increments(BAI),cumulative diameter increases,and changes indicative of released and suppressed *** tree species were found in all stands,with Laurus novocanariensis,Ilex canariensis and Morella faya being the most common *** some individuals were over 100 years old,61.8%-88.9% of the trees per stand established between 1940 and 1970,coinciding with a post-war period of land abandonment,rural exodus and the onset of a tourism *** trees have shown growth rates larger than 1 cm diameter per year and most species have had increasing BAI trends over the past *** growth releases occurred after windstorms at both sites,but the effects of windstorms were site-dependent,with the 1958 storm affecting mainly the eastern tip of the island(Anaga massif)and the 1991 storm the western tip(Teno massif).Given the great ability of laurel forest trees to establish after land use cessation and to increase growth after local disturbances such as windstorms,passive restoration may be sufficient to regenerate this habitat in currently degraded areas.

A comparison between two distinct levels of back fat thickness in open cows, females not becoming pregnant during the previous breeding season, was carried out in order to evaluate their reproductive performance prior to the next natural mating in a seasonal breeding program. Thirty open cows from the previous breeding season were divided evenly by age and back fat thickness (BFT) in two groups. HBFT (high back fat thickness ≥ 70 mm) and LBFT (low back fat thickness ≤ 70 mm), values statistically different between groups (P < 0.05). The study was divided into three phases in which the formation of CL and follicular dynamics were recorded by ultrasound and progesterone. Also, serial monitoring of glucose, urea and triglycerides and back fat thickness were studied. A fertile bull previously approved from a breeding soundness evaluation was introduced after the third phase and remained with the herd for 90 days. No differences were found in the follicular dynamics;the number of animals cycling in the two groups and fertility were also similar (80%). Differences in urea and triglycerides were found in cows with high scores of BFT. In conclusion, the decision of keeping open cows to the next breeding season must be based on an economical advantage to the farmer.

近年来墨西哥在如火如荼地开展文化外交与旅游外交活动。尤其是全球贸易盛行和多元文化的交织更是为这两外交培育了沃土,而且文化产品通过国际贸易的渠道实现文化的交流及传播成为了文化外交与旅游外交的热门途径。基于这些,本研究以“墨西哥电影业”为研究对象,以“墨西哥电影业海外各国演出”为例,提出一个针对“墨西哥电影业”文化产品国际贸易有益于增加各国赴墨西哥旅游人数。这将有利于墨西哥经济的全面发展。本研究通过实证研究和经验研究发现了文化产品的国际贸易,如墨西哥电影业产品海外各国演出与墨西哥旅游人数呈现正相关关系。因此假设一成立,这表示通过文化外交与旅游外交相结合及用墨西哥电影业演出对增加各国赴墨西哥旅游人数。
