Background: Perinatal asphyxia is a common cause of mortality and of morbidity including motor and neurodevelopmental abnormalities. The aim of this study was to evaluate the post-hospital outcome of neonates treated for perinatal asphyxia at the Douala Gynaeco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital (DGOPH) in Cameroon. Patients and Methods: We conducted a hospital-based cross-sectional study with both a retrospective and prospective data collection, conducted over a period of 3 months and involving neonates above 34 weeks of gestational age who were managed for perinatal asphyxia at DGOPH from August 2015 to February 2020. Socio-demographic, perinatal, motor, nutritional and neuro-developmental out-of-hospital data were recorded. The assessment of the child’s psychomotor development was evaluated through gross motor skills, fine motor skills, language and social contact. We calculated the development quotient (DQ) by dividing the developmental age (DA) by the actual age (RA) of the patient. The data were entered and analyzed using excel and Stata version 15 software. Results: Among the 58 newborns included in our study, males were the most represented (59%). The mean age was 36.5 ± 14.16 months (Extremes: 12 months and 66 months). The majority of patients were born at term (79%), had a birth weight between 2500 and 4000 grams (69%), were resuscitated (95%), and had an Apgar score th minute of life (67%). SARNAT stages II and III counted for 48%. Neurodevelopmental abnormalities were found in 25.5% of patients with gross motor delay (mainly tetraparesis) representing 23.5%, fine motor delay 27.5%, impairment in social contact 31% language speech delay. The majority of the children had a normal development quotient (78.4%). Conclusion: The short-term and long-term outcome of newborns who experienced perinatal asphyxia in our setting is marked by numerous impairments in developmental milestones leading to disability.

Introduction: Maternal mortality is a robust indicator of human development. Most of it occurs in developing countries. Objectives: This study aims to determine the factors associated with maternal mortality in Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of Borgou Departmental University Hospital Center (CHUD-B). Study method: Our study took place at Gynecology and Obstetrics Department in Borgou Departmental University Hospital Center. This was a descriptive and analytical case-control study, covering a period of 7 years from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2018. “Six-and-twelve” score for outcome prediction of hepatocellular carcinoma following transarterial chemoembolization. In-depth analysis from a multicenter French cohort

The“six-and-twelve”(6&12)score is a new hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)prognostic index designed for recommended transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)*** and easy to use by the sum of tumor size(cm)and number,this model identifies three groups with different survival time(the sum is≤6;or>6 but≤12;or>12);a survival benefit with TACE can be expected for HCC patients with a score not exceeding ***,Wang ZW et al showed that the“6&12”model was the best system correlated with radiological response after the first ***,we wanted to assess its survival prediction ability as well as its prognostic value and compared it to other systems(Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer,Hong Kong Liver Cancer(HKLC)staging,Albumin-Bilirubin grade,tumor nodularity,infiltrative nature of the tumor,alpha-fetoprotein,Child-Pugh class,and Performance Status score,Cancer of the Liver Italian Program,Model to Estimate Survival for HCC scores,up-to-seven criteria)different from Wang ZW et al study in a multicenter French cohort of HCC including only recommended TACE candidates retrospectively *** previously demonstrated,we show that the"6&12”score can classify survival within this French cohort,with a prognostic value comparable to that of other systems,except HKLC *** importantly,the“6&12”score simplicity and ability in patients’stratification outperform other systems for a routine clinical practice.

Introduction: A higher risk of death is associated with wasting in children if it is not treated properly. The objective of this study was to investigate the ionic disorders observed in infants suffering from severe wasting at Yalgado Ouedraogo Teaching Hospital (YO-TH) and at Charles de Gaulle Pediatric Teaching Hospital (CDG-PTH) in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). Methods: This was a retrospective study with a descriptive and analytical aim over the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020. Results: It concerned infants aged 6 to 24 months hospitalized at YO-TH and at CDG-PTH from Ouagadougou. We included 271 infants. The mean age of the infants was 14.48 ± 5.44 months with 42.07% which was in the age range of [12 - 18] months. On admission to the hospital, the children had an average weight, height and BMI of 6.22 ± 1.32 kg, 0.73 ± 0.07 m and 11.67 ± 1.53 kg/m2. In urban areas 56.46% of children and the main reasons for consultation were fever (88.19%), vomiting (52.80%) and diarrhea (50.20%). Electrolyte disturbances in emaciated infants affected all 8 parameters of the blood ionogram. However, the major disorders were 65.68% hyponatremia, 55.35% hypobicarbonatemia, 41.33% hypoprotidemia and 32.47% hypokalemia in infants aged 6 to 24 months. We found an association between diarrhea and residence with hypokalemia (p = 0.0000) and hypochloremia (p = 0.010), respectively. Conclusion: Severe acute wasting in infants 6 to 24 months of age remains a concern in the hospital setting. The frequency of biochemical disturbances is also high.

Novel in vivo Evaluation of the Moisturizing Effect of A Lotion by Using Raman Microspectroscopy

Skin moisturization can be measured in vivo by Corneometer?, giving information about the hydration level of the skin. However, this approach cannot reveal the inner changes of lipid organization involved in the integrity of the skin barrier. Raman microspectroscopy is an in vivo and non-invasive method that assesses the lateral organization of lipids from the stratum corneum by measuring the νasymCH2/νsymCH2 ratio. In the present study, the aim is to evaluate the moisturizing effect of two skin care products (i.e. LOTION 1: GF deep-nourishing & skin-sturdy facial emulsion;LOTION 2: placebo formula) by using the Corneometer? and Raman microspectroscopy. Results demonstrates a significant improvement of lipids organization and thus a reinforcement of the barrier function associated with an increase of the hydration level with LOTION 1 compared to LOTION 2.

Epidemiological and Histopathological Aspects of Chronic Gastritis at the Departmental University Teaching Hospital of Borgou Alibori (CHUD-BA) from 2011 to 2021

Background: Gastritis is better evaluated nowadays since the advent of upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Despite the availability of this workup in Benin Republic, there is a scarcity of data on chronic gastritis. Objective: This work aimed to study the epidemiological and histopathological aspects of chronic gastritis in the Departmental University Teaching Hospital of Borgou Alibori (CHUD-B/A) from 2011 to 2021. Method: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study with descriptive and analytical purposes, carried out from February 23, 2022 to May 23, 2022, among patients who had undergone gastric biopsy and/or gastrectomy from January 2011 to January 2022 (10 year), and whose specimens were sent into the histopathology section of the CHUD-B/A. Non-probability sampling was performed with exhaustive recruitment. A survey form has been used to collect data from patients’ medical records. Pearson’s chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests have been used as appropriate to determine correlations between variables. Result: A total of 310 cases of chronic gastritis were diagnosed in the histopathology section of the CHUD-B/A from 2011 to 2021. This represented a chronic gastritis frequency of 91.45% for all gastric lesions diagnosed throughout the study period. Erythematous gastropathy was the most frequent (70.35%). Helicobacter pylori was present in 36.77% and dysplasia was observed in 12.26% of cases. Erythematous gastropathy was a predictive factor for the absence of gastric dysplasia in histopathology check up (p-value = 0.042). In contrast, intestinal metaplasia was predictive of the presence of gastric dysplasia in histopathology check up (p-value < 0.001). Conclusion: Chronic gastritis is very common in our setting. Systematic biopsy performance in front of an evocative clinical situation followed by histopathological examination may be encouraged.

作为1100kV的UHV（特高压）输电，面临技术——生态环境的巨大挑战。变电站的UHV开关装置模块，需要的是可靠、成本／效益比好、环境友好、可维护的方案。对于这些所需的参数以及技术规范的验证，采用AIS（空气隔离变电所）技术能完全满足这些需要。介绍由瓷柱式断路器、隔离开关和NCIT（非传统互感器）所组成的UHV模块。这些装置是根据模块原理预先设计好的，其中的设备间的连接肯定允许快速安装。在变电站设备控制和检测方面，模块是预制标准化。加拿大和德国的试验站对断路器、隔离开关等独立的开关元件，在1100kV上做BIL、SIL和工频等绝缘试验，性能表现非常优越。因为对于特高压电压等级，IEC标准至今尚未规定，所以将根据外推法和现场数据作合理解释。瓷柱式断路器采用了最新复合绝缘体技术，在安全方面有所改进。AIS方案其他的关键技术，例如环境保护和成本，在可比的功能间，根据市场估计价值，与GIS解决方法作了比较。

The role of 3-dimensional ultrasound for the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies

Objectives: To demonstrate the value of 3-dimensional (3-D) ultrasound (US) in the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies. Methods: Fifty one infertile patients referred to our US unit during 12 years period, with suspected diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies by previous HSG or 2D US examinations, were evaluated by transvaginal 3-D US. The 3-D US diagnoses were compared to the initial HSG diagnosis, and to hysteroscopic evaluation when performed. Results: 3-D scan confirmed the initial HSG diagnosis in 27 out of 51 (52.9%) women. The concordancy rates between the initial diagnosis by HSG and 3-D US results were 30.4% for bicornuate uterus;75% for arcuate uterus;83% for septate uterus;and 80% for unicornuate uterus. Of the 13 cases with normal HSG and suspicious 2-D US, 30.8% were found to be normal by 3D sonography. In cases where hysteroscopy was done, the results were 100% in concordance with the 3-D US evaluations. Conclusions: 3-D US is an accurate test for the assessment of uterine congenital anomalies. Its ability to concomitantly visualized, the external uterine contour with the uterine cavity on the same coronal plan, makes this noninvasive, easy to perform test the procedure of choice for the diagnosis of uterine anomalies.
