Objective:To assess public knowledge,practices and perceptions on typhus fevers in Sri ***:A descriptive study was done in four selected typhus-prone areas in Southern Sri Lanka.A mixed-method was employed using face-to-face interviews and questionnaire-based surveys among confirmed cases of typhus and at-risk populations,***,percentages,and means were used to characterize socio-demography and evaluate disease ***:The lay terms for typhus fevers reported in the studied region were“peacock fever”,“tick fever”and“bird fever”.A total of 499 subjects participated[mean±SD,(45±16)years]in the questionnaire-based survey,and 13.6%(n=68)reported past experience of typhus fever,1.2%(n=6)identified the disease as“typhus”while 58.7%(n=293)and 11.8%(n=59)knew it as‘peacock fever’and‘tick fever’,*** etiological agent was unknown to 95.2%(n=475),but 53.5%(n=267)were aware that it was ***(57.3%,n=286),eschar(35.7%,n=178),headache(22.0%,n=267)and myalgia(19.2%,n=96)were identified as key *** disease experience was significantly associated with higher awareness of the main disease symptoms(fever:χ^(2)=15.713,P<0.001;headache:χ^(2)=19.447,P<0.001;lymphadenopathy:Fisher’s exact test,P=0.023;eschar:χ^(2)=12.049,P<0.001).None knew of any disease prevention *** with a past history of typhus fever had sought treatment at state hospitals(55.9%,38/68)and private sector hospitals(5.9%,4/68).Conclusions:Public awareness on preventive practices for typhus fevers was rare among the participants though vector-borne aspect was known to *** disease awareness was deficient among those without past experience of typhus *** sensitization on vector avoidance strategies is highly recommended.

A new series of N-arylquinoline derivatives 5a-x bearing 2-morpholinoquinoline moiety has been synthesized by one pot base catalyzed cyclocondensation reaction of 2-morpholinoquinoline-3-carbaldehydes 2a-c,malononitrile 3 andβ-enaminones 4a-h. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against six bacterial pathogens,namely Streptococcus pneumoniae,Clostridium tetani,Bacillus subtilis,Salmonella typhi,Vibrio cholerae,Escherichia coli and against two fungal pathogens,Aspergillus fumigatus and Candida albicans using broth microdilution MIC *** the compounds studied,majority of the compounds were found to active against ***,*** and *** as compared to first-line standard drugs.

Heavy seasonal rain makes waterway flood and is one of the preeminent reason behind *** causes various perils with outcomes including danger to human life,harm to building,streets,misfortune to horticultural fields and bringing about human ***,prediction of flood is of prime importance so as to reduce exposure of people and destruction of *** paper focuses on applying different neural networks approach,*** Perceptron,Radial Basis functional neural network,Local Linear Radial Basis Functional Neural Network and Artificial Neural Network with Whale Optimization to predict flood in terms of rainfall,gauge,area,velocity,pressure,average temperature,average wind speed that are setup through field and lab investigation from the contextual analysis of river“Daya”and“Bhargavi”.It has always been a troublesome undertaking to predict flood as many factors have influence on it although with this neural network models the prediction accuracy can be optimized using back propagation method which is a widely applied over traditional learning method for neural system because of its preeminent learning *** flood prediction system is built with the four models and a comparison is made which provides us the answer to which model is effective for the prediction.

Gold nanoparticles （AuNPs） were synthesized by sonication using ethanolic leaf extract of Andrographis paniculata. We investigated the optimum parameters for AuNP synthesis and functionalization with polycaprolactone-gelatin （PCL-GL） composites. The AuNPs were characterized with various biophysical techniques such as TEM, XRD, FT-IR and EDX spectroscopy. TEM images showed that nanoparticles were spherical in shape with a size range from 5 to 75 nm. EDX analysis revealed the presence of molecular oxygen and carbon on the surface of AuNPs. The synthesized AuNPs were tested for their effect on HeLa （human cervical cancer） and MCF- 7 （human breast cancer） cell lines and found to be nontoxic and biocompatible, which are potential carriers for hydrophobic drugs.

Experimental determination of density, ultrasonic velocity and viscosity of two pyrimidine bases thymine and cytosine along with their respective nucleosides, thymidine and cytidine has been carried out in aqueous urea solutions in the presence of different concentrations of three salts, viz. NaC1, KCl and CaCl2. The experimental data have been used for the computation of various thermodynamic parameters, viz. apparent molar volume, apparent molar compressibility, coefficients A and B of the Jones-Dole equation, internal pressure, acoustic impedance, etc. Structural studies of solutions under investigation have also been carried out by ultraviolet spectroscopy, and an at- tempt has been made to collaborate the findings of ultraviolet spectroscopy with results obtained thermodynami- cally.

The photons & the quantum particles display several mysterious Quantum Phenomena which could not be explained earlier. The New Quantum Theory explains not only the long pending Wave Particle Duality but also all other mysterious Quantum Phenomena. The New Quantum Theory is based on the analogy of the atoms & the solar system and not only supplements but also completes the Quantum Theory. This work explains “how & why” a photon, an electron or quanta generates the electric & the magnetic fields of continuously varying intensities & in the changing directions to form a 3-D Electromagnetic wave. The electromagnetic fields generated by the photons/quantum particles interact with the electromagnetic fields of the mediums (conductor, semicon-ductor or insulator etc.) to display several mysterious Quantum Phenomena. These interactions are strong enough to change the spin, wavelength, amplitude & direction of the quantum particles in the medium. The spin-orbit interlocking/interactions, transverse spin, vortex spin texture & evanescent waves etc. are the results of such interactions. This work explains some of the quantum phenomena in brief so that the various Quantum Phenomena can be modified & developed for the different applications.

A Comparative Study of Bisphenol-A, Hydantoin and Cyanuric Acid Based Epoxy Resins Using XRD

To evaluate the efficiency of modified epoxy resins using bisphenol-A, hydantoin & cyanuric acid & to investigate the structural change due to the presence of Nitrogen atoms in polymeric chain for improved insulating properties, weatherability etc. The samples of epoxy resin bisphenol-a, hydantoin and Cyanuric acid based was taken for X-RAY diffraction analysis. The diffraction patterns were Fourier analysed to get an exact idea about the change in the polymer structure. From X-RAY diffraction analysis it was found that all physical parameters like area of cross section, number of carbon atoms per entanglement, stiffness parameter, particle size, percentage crystallinity & electron density fluctuation, in case of bisphenol-A based epoxy resin is more than other epoxy resins;that is;as the number of nitrogen atoms increased, all the physical parameters were reducedIn the present study only X-ray diffraction patterns of bisphenol-A, hydantoin and cyanuric acid based epoxy resins were studied. However their dielectric and ultrasonic properties could also be studied to get more information about the structur With the help of X-RAY diffraction patterns, one can easily check the synthesized samples of epoxy resins. The method to investigate the structural analysis of epoxy resin was novel and could find numerous applications in surfacecoatings.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a serious hazard that can result inirreversible blindness if not addressed in a timely manner. Hence, numeroustechniques have been proposed for the accurate and timely detection ofthis disease. Out of these, Deep Learning (DL) and Computer Vision (CV)methods for multiclass categorization of color fundus images diagnosed withDiabetic Retinopathy have sparked considerable attention. In this paper,we attempt to develop an extended ResNet152V2 architecture-based DeepLearning model, named ResNet2.0 to aid the timely detection of DR. TheAPTOS-2019 datasetwas used to train the model. This consists of 3662 fundusimages belonging to five different stages of DR: no DR (Class 0), mild DR(Class 1), moderate DR (Class 2), severe DR (Class 3), and proliferativeDR (Class 4). The model was gauged based on ability to detect stage-wiseDR. The images were pre-processed using negative and positive weightedGaussian-based masks as feature engineering to further enhance the qualityof the fundus images by removing the noise and normalizing the images. Upsamplingand data augmentation methods were used to address the skewnessof the original dataset. The proposed model achieved an overall accuracyof 91% and an area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC)score of 95.1%, outperforming existing Deep Learning models by around 10%.Furthermore, the class-wise F1 score for No DR was 92%, Mild DR was 82%,Moderate DR was 66%, Severe was DR 89% and Proliferative DR was 80%.

As far as the present state is concerned in detecting the behavioral pattern of humans(subject)using morphological image processing,a considerable portion of the study has been conducted utilizing frontal vision data of human *** present research work had used a side vision of human-face data to develop a theoretical framework via a hybrid analytical model *** this example,hybridization includes an artificial neural network(ANN)with a genetic algorithm(GA).We researched the geometrical properties extracted from side-vision human-face *** additional study was conducted to determine the ideal number of geometrical characteristics to pick while *** close vicinity ofminimum distance measurements is done for these clusters,mapped for proper classification and decision process of behavioral *** identify the data acquired,support vector machines and artificial neural networks are utilized.A method known as an adaptiveunidirectional associative memory(AUTAM)was used to map one side of a human face to the other side of the same *** behavioral pattern has been detected based on two-class problem classification,and the decision process has been done using a genetic algorithm with best-fit *** developed algorithm in the present work has been tested by considering a dataset of 100 subjects and tested using standard databases like FERET,Multi-PIE,Yale Face database,RTR,CASIA,*** complexity measures have also been calculated under worst-case and best-case situations.
