The s.nthes.s.of biological s.licon nano-particles.Bio-s.-NPs.is.an eco-friendly and lowcos. *** is.no s.udy focus.ng on the effect of Bio-s.-NPs.on the plants.grown on s.line s.il contaminated with heavy *** this.s.udy,an attempt was.made to s.nthes.s.Bio-s.-NPs.us.ng potas.ium s.lica florid s.bs.rate,and the identified As.ergillus.tubingens.s.AM11 is.late that s.parated from dis.ribution s.s.ems.of the potable water.A twoyear field trial was.conducted to compare the protective effects.of Bio-s.-NPs.2.5 and 5.0 mmol/L)and potas.ium s.licate(10 mmol/L)as.a foliar s.ray on the antioxidant defens. s.s.em,phys.o-biochemical components.and the contaminants.contents.of Phas.olus.vulgaris.*** on s.line s.il contaminated with heavy *** findings.s.owed that all treatments.of Bio-s.-NPs.and potas.ium s.licate s.gnificantly improved plant growth and production,chlorophylls.carotenoids.trans.iration rate,net photos.nthetic rate,s.omatal conductance,membrane s.ability index,relative water content,free proline,total s.luble s.gars.N,P,K,Ca2+,K+/Na+,and the activities.of peroxidas.,catalas.,as.orbic peroxidas. and s.peroxide oxide *** of Bio-s.-NPs.and potas.ium s.licate s.gnificantly decreas.d electrolyte leakage,malondialdehyde,H2 O2,O2·-,Na+,Pb,Cd,and Ni in leaves.and pods.of Phas.olus.vulgaris.*** to ***-s.-NPs.were more effective compared to potas.ium *** of Bio-s.-NPs.at the rate of 5 mmol/L was.the recommended treatment to enhance the performance and reduce heavy metals.content on plants.grown on contaminated s.line s.ils.

Is.Cognition a Determinant of Health Related Quality of Life in Community Dwelling Non Demented Elderly?

Quality of life (QOL) is.an important topic in s.cial and medical s.iences. it has.a multidimens.onal nature and is.influenced by many factors. Aim of the Work: In this.s.udy we want to as.es. the impact of cognitive impairment on the health related quality of life (HR-QOL) of community dwelling non demented elderly. s.bject and Method: 115 non demented elderly, 60 years.and older recruited from outpatient geriatric clinic at Al Mans.ura General Hos.ital, Dakahlia, Egypt. Each participant underwent, comprehens.ve geriatric as.es.ment, as.es.ing cognitive function us.ng the mini-mental s.ate examination (MMs.) and montreal cognitive function tes., as.es.ing the health related quality of life (HR-QOL) by the RAND-36 health s.rvey. Res.lts. We found that the elderly with impaired cognition by both MMs. and Montreal tes. were s.gnificantly older;the ones.with lower education, with more depres.ive s.mptoms. had more functional impairment and had lower HR-QOL s.ores.than the elderly with normal cognitive function, after controlling for confounders.s.ill cognition was.a determinant of HR-QOL. Als. by linear correlation coefficient a s.gnificant correlation between HR-QOL and age, function, cognition and depres.ion was.found. Conclus.on: Cognition affects.s.gnificantly HR-QOL of the elderly, s. we can s.y that interventions.targeting cognition in the elderly can s.gnificantly improve their QOL.

Introduction: Endometrios.s.affects.up to 1 every 5 women at their reproductive age, with variable and complex s.mptomatology. Patients.may be as.mptomatic but may have pain epis.des.or s.bfertility. Its.negative impact is.on patients. health and quality of life. Objective: it was.to inves.igate the s.rum and peritoneal fluid (PF) concentrations.of Angiopoietin- 2, Interleukin-1β, and Vas.ular Endothelial Growth Factor, aiming to evaluate their diagnos.ic performance in endometrios.s. Methods. s.rum and peritoneal fluid s.mples.were taken from 112 women undergoing laparos.opy for infertility, pelvic pain or adnexal mas.es. 61 diagnos.d with endometrios.s.and 51 controlled. Primary outcome was.to es.imate s.rum and PF concentrations.of Angio-2, IL-1β and VEGF and s.condarily correlate thes. concentrations.to dis.as. s.ages.thus.as.uming their diagnos.ic potential. Res.lts. s.gnificant differences.were found between patients.and control as.regards.s.rum and PF concentration of all s.udied markers.except s.rum IL-1β. s.rum Angio-2 and PF VEGF s.owed a s.gnificantly higher level in more advanced s.ages.of endometrios.s. PF VEGF s.owed a pos.tively s.gnificant correlation with the s.age of the dis.as., s.earman coefficient t = 0.442 p = 0.014. PF concentrations.of Angio-2 and s.rum VEGF did not s.ow s.gnificant pattern changes.with s.age-related levels. Diagnos.ic potential of s.rum and PF concentrations.of the 3 markers.were as.es.ed by the ROC curve. Angio-2 proved an excellent diagnos.ic ability for endometrios.s. PF and s.rum VEGF proved an equal diagnos.ic performance, whereas. PF IL-1β was.the leas. efficient. The deep-s.a brines.of the Red s.a include s.me of the mos. extreme and unique envi- ronments.on Earth. They combine high s.linities.with increas.s.in temperature, heavy metals. hydros.atic pres.ure, and anoxic conditions. creating unique s.ttings.for thriving populations.of novel extremophiles. Des.ite a recent increas. of s.udies.focus.ng on thes. unus.al biotopes. their viral communities.remain unexplored. The current s.rvey explores.four metagenomic datas.ts.obtained from different brine-s.awater interface s.mples. focus.ng s.ecifically on the divers.ty of their viral communities. Data analys.s.confirmed that the particle-attached viral communities.pres.nt in the brine-s.awater interfaces.were divers. and generally dominated by Candovirales. yet appearing dis.inct from s.mple to s.mple. With a level of caution, we report the unexpected finding of Phycodnaviridae, which infects.algae and plants. and trace amounts.of ins.ct-infecting Iridoviridae. Res.lts.from Kebrit Deep revealed s.ratification in the viral communities.pres.nt in the interface： the upper-interface was.enriched with virus.s.as.ociated with typical marine bacteria, while the lower-interface was.enriched with halovirus.s.and halophages. Thes. res.lts.provide firs. ins.ghts.into the unexplored viral communities.pres.nt in deep-s.a brines.of the Red s.a, repres.nt- ing one of the firs. s.eps.for ongoing and future s.mpling efforts.and s.udies.

Application of Bio-s.lids.as.s.il Amendment in Arid Rangeland of Jordan

Due to long drought periods.and over utilizing of range lands.in the arid lands.of Jordan, the land is.degraded and los. mos. of its.natural vegetation. To rehabilitate the natural vegetation cover, there is.a need to enhance the fertility of s.il to be able to s.pport vegetation under limited amounts.of rainfall. One of the available and viable options.that might be able to provide a s.lution for the s.il poverty is.applying materials.with high organic contents.s.ch as.bios.lid. Bio-s.lids.are nutrient-rich organic materials.from the treatment of domes.ic s.wage in a was.ewater treatment facility. Bio-s.lids.are a beneficial res.urce, containing es.ential plant nutrients.and organic matter and are recycled as.a fertilizer and s.il amendment. A pilot s.udy is.des.gned bas.d on randomized block des.gn in which five treatments.are us.d to repres.nt the loading rates.of bio-s.lids.application. Thes. loads.were 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 tons.ha with four replicates.for the control and each application load. s.mples.from Bio-s.lid, s.il and plants.are tes.ed for chemicals.and microbes. Chemical tes.s.include: As. Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Hg, Mo, Ni, Pb, s., and Zn, while microbial tes.s.include: total fecal Coliform, s.lmonella, and Helminthes.eggs. Res.lts.of total microbial count in bio-s.lids. s.il and plant s.mples.indicated that there were no detectable counts.found in all of the experimental plots. Res.lts.s.owed increas. in mos. of the heavy metals.concentration in s.il treated with bio-s.lids.from that of s.il in control plots.s.me of thes. elements.doubled after applying the bio-s.lid. For the dry plant matter, analys.s.for heavy metals.s.owed that mos. of the heavy metals.s.udied were below the detection limit. Only the Cr, Cu and Zn are changed but not s.gnificantly compared with the control plot. Res.lts.obtained were s.owed that the highes. dry biomas. value was.obtained with bio-s.lids.loading rate 40 tons.ha and more. Increas.ng rate of application after 40 tons.ha did

The Ain El Bey abandoned mine, in North-Wes. Tunis.a, fits.into the geodynamic context of the European and African plate boundary. Ore depos.t corres.onds.to veins.and breccia of multiphas. Cu–Fe-rich mineralization related to various.hydrothermal fluid circulations. Petromineralogical s.udies.indicate a rich mineral paragenes.s.with a minimum of s.ven mineralization phas.s.and, at leas., s.x pyrite generations. As.is.als. the cas. for galena and native s.lver, native gold is.obs.rved for the firs. time as.inclus.on in quartz which opens.up, thus. new pers.ectives.for pros.ecting and evaluating the potential for noble metals.as.ociated with the mineralization. s.anning Electron Micros.ope--Energy Dis.ers.ve s.ectros.opy and Trans.is.ion electron micros.opy analys.s.s.ow, in addition, a large incorporation of trace elements. including Ag and Au, in mineral s.ructures.s.ch as.fahlores.tetrahedrite-tennantite) and chalcopyrite ones. The mineral/mineral as.ociations. us.d as.geothermometers. gave es.imated temperatures.for the mineralizing fluids.varying from 254 to 330 ℃ for phas. Ⅲ, from 254 to 350 ℃ for phas. Ⅳ, and from 200 to 300 ℃ for phas.s.Ⅴ and Ⅵ. The s.venth and las. identified mineralization phas., marked by a depos.t of native gold, reflects.a drop in the mineralizing fluid’s.temperature(s. s.ch res.lts.open up pers.ectives.for the development of precious.metal res.arch and the revaluation of the Cu–Fe ore depos.t at the Ain El Bey abandoned mine, as.well as.at the s.rrounding areas.fitting in the geodynamic framework of the Africa-Europe plate boundary.
