Drip technologies have been suggested as practical for irrigation under conditions of high salinity and for reclamation of saline *** irrigation triggered by soil water potential thresholds was applied to both reclaim a severely saline calcareous gypsiferous soil and irrigate a waxy corn crop(Zea mays *** Kulesh).However,there is a lack of knowledge on the sustainability of reclamation of saline soils with drip irrigation and the changes in soil salinity and salt ion composition during the amelioration ***,effects on soil salinity,its ionic composition,and on crop growth and yields were evaluated in an experiment conducted in the Yinchuan Plain,northwest *** included fields in their first to fourth years of the drip irrigation reclamation-cropping scheme and adjacent native,non-cropped or irrigated salinesodic land as *** of waxy corn increased and days of growth to maturity decreased as a function of time and reclamation *** improvement in crop performance could be largely credited to the reduction of soil salinity and changes in salt composition under the drip-irrigated reclamation *** drip irrigation regime created a region of low salinity proximal to the emitters conducive to germination and plant *** ions for crop growth such as Na+and Cl^(-)were reduced while Ca2+and Mg2+concentration increased,especially in the upper 40 cm of *** only a single season of drip-irrigated waxy corn production,both Cl-SO_(4)^(2-)ratios and sodium adsorption ratio(SAR)decreased *** results suggested that drip irrigation is an effective technology for reclamation of severely saline-affected soils,such as those widely distributed over the Ningxia Plain in China and that this or similar reclamation strategy could be appropriate for reclamation of other hard to manage calcareous and gypsiferous soils.

探讨了通过目标产量需磷量确定磷肥用量并在棉花生长早期集中施用的磷肥管理方法以维持适宜的土壤供磷强度、实现作物高产和磷肥高效利用目标的可行性,为磷肥减施增效提供依据。在新疆石河子选择中等供磷强度的农田(有效磷23.6 mg·kg^(–1)),以覆膜水肥一体化棉花(Gossypium hirsutum)种植体系为对象,根据该区域2.7 t·hm^(–2)皮棉产量的需磷量确定试验的磷肥用量(52.4 kg·hm^(–2),以P计),开展了两年田间试验。试验选用三种不同性质的水溶性磷肥,设置不施磷肥(CK)、滴施磷酸一铵(MAP)、滴施磷酸脲(UP)和滴施聚磷酸铵(APP)4个处理。通过测定不同处理棉花的产量与磷吸收量,计算磷肥偏生产力(PFP)、磷肥农学效率(AEP)、磷肥当季利用率(PUE)与当季磷肥回收率(即作物吸磷量与磷肥施用量的比值);通过棉花不同生育期分层取样,分析了不同磷肥品种处理引起的土壤有效磷供应强度和无机磷形态组成的变化,以期阐明不同磷肥的空间有效性与棉花生长需求的匹配程度。研究结果表明:(1)施磷处理两年的皮棉产量平均为2.73 t·hm^(–2),达到了高产水平,MAP、UP和APP处理分别较CK增产21%、25%和11%;(2)施磷处理的磷盈余为2.2~4.8 kg·hm^(–2),磷肥当季利用率平均为24%,当季磷肥回收率为91%~96%;(3)磷肥在棉花蕾期和花铃期集中滴施,其垂直移动距离可达到20 cm土层,能保证棉花生育期内的土壤供磷强度。与CK相比,施磷处理根区0~5 cm、5~10 cm、10~20 cm土层的有效磷分别提高了94%~302%、104%~144%和42%~67%。综上所述,将土壤有效磷供应强度维持在农学阈值附近、根据目标产量需磷量确定磷肥施用量,石灰性土壤上选择强酸性、缓释磷肥于作物生育前期集中施用能够在磷素输入-输出平衡的条件下实现作物高产和磷肥高效。根据平衡法计算的当季磷肥回收率能较好地反映磷肥的实际利用情况。

Objectives. Cancer is a very widespread disorder known in world wide since long, but its biochemical features remain unclear. Thyroid carcinomas are the most common endocrine cancer and its frequency continues to escalate. There is evidence that the serum concentration of TSH is an unreliant predictor for the diagnosis of thyroid cancer. The formation of the plasma thiol pool from low and large molecular weight proteins suggests that thiol/disulfide balance is important in cancerous cases. The aim of this study was to investigate an oxidative stress marker (thiol/disulphide homeostasis) and IMA (Ischemia modified albumin), Albumin, CEA (Carcinoembryonic antigen), TSH (Thyroid stimulate hormone), thyroxine (T4), free thyroxine (FT4), triiodothyronine (T3) and free triiodothyronine (FT3) in patients with thyroid cancer and compare the results with healthy controls for the first time in literature. Materials-Methods: A total of 43 participants including 23 patients with thyroid cancer and 20 healthy individuals were included in the study. Serum levels of TSH, T4, FT4, T3 and FT3 have been measured during treatment and follow-up of patients with thyroid carcinoma. Serum levels of TSH, T4, FT4, T3 and FT3, IMA, Albumin, CEA, Native thiol (-SH), disulfide (-S-S) and total thiol (TT) as well as disulphide/native thiol and disulphide/total thiol ratios were compared between the groups. Native thiol, disulfide and total thiol concentrations were measured with a novel automated method (Roche, cobas 501, Mannheim, Germany). Results and conclusion: This paper discusses an oxidative stress marker (thiol/disulphide homeostasis) and tumor markers IMA, Albumin, CEA, TSH, T4, FT4, T3 and FT3 in patients with thyroid cancer and compare the results with healthy controls. Mean age at participant was 41.73 years for thyroid cancer patients (21 females/2 males). A control group of 20 participants was included the study (19 females/1 male, mean age 51.75).

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate thiol-disulphide homeostasis in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) during attack and remission. Design and Methods: A total of 82 patients admitted to our clinic were divided into 2 groups according to whether they are having an attack or not. Peripheral blood samples were taken from all patients and their native thiol, disulphide and total thiol concentrations were measured by a newly developed automated method. In addition, their disulphide/native thiol, disulphide/total thiol and native thiol/total thiol ratios were calculated. Results: The average disulphide values, disulphide/native thiol and disulphide/total thiol ratios of the patients with MS who were having an attack were found to be significantly higher compared to those in remission (p = 0.001, p = 0.001, p = 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: Our results have shown that thiol-disulphide balance was shifted to the oxidative area during the relapse. These homeostasis parameters, which can be easily measured by this newly developed method at low costs, may be important in terms of showing the disease activity and presenting the underlying mechanisms of the disease.

Insulin resistance in H pylori infection and its association with oxidative stress

AIM: To determine the insulin resistance (IR) and oxidative status in H pylori infection and to find out if there is any relationship between these parameters and insulin resistance. METHODS: Fifty-five H pylori positive and 48 H pylori negative patients were enrolled. The homeostasis model assessment (HOMA) was used to assess insulin resistance. Serum total antioxidant capacity (TAC), total oxidant status (TOS) and oxidative stress index (OSI) were determined in all subjects. RESULTS: The total antioxidant capacity was significantly lower in H pylori positive group than in H pylori negative group (1.36 ± 0.33 and 1.70 ± 0.50, respectively; P < 0.001), while the total oxidant status and oxidative stress index were significantly higher in H pylori positive group than in H pylori negative group (6.79 ± 3.40 and 5.08 ± 0.95, and 5.42 ± 3.40 and 3.10 ± 0.92, respectively; P < 0.001). Insulin resistance was significantly higher in H pylori positive group than in H pylori negative group (6.92 ± 3.86 and 3.61 ± 1.67, res- pectively; P < 0.001). Insulin resistance was found to be significantly correlated with total antioxidant capacity (r = -0.251, P < 0.05), total oxidant status (r = 0.365, P < 0.05), and oxidative stress index (r = 0.267, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Insulin resistance seems to be associated with increased oxidative stress in H pylori infection. Further studies are needed to clarify the mechanisms underlying this association and elucidate the effectof adding antioxidant vitamins to H pylori eradication therapy on insulin resistance during H pylori infection.

AIM To determine dynamic thiol/disulphide homeostasis in celiac disease and to examine the associate with celiac autoantibodies and gluten-free *** Seventy three patients with celiac disease and 73 healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study. In both groups, thiol/disulphide homeostasis was examined with a new colorimetric method recently developed by erel and Neselioglu. RESULTS In patients with celiac disease, native thiol(P = 0.027) and total thiol(P = 0.031) levels were lower, while disulphide(P < 0.001) level, disulphide/native thiol(P < 0.001) and disulphide/total thiol(P < 0.001) ratios were higher compared to the control group. In patients who do not comply with a gluten-free diet, disulphide/native thiol ratio was found higher compared to the patients who comply with the diet(P < 0.001). In patients withany autoantibody-positive, disulphide/native thiol ratio was observed higher compared to the patients with autoantibody-negative(P < 0.05). It is found that there is a negative correlation between celiac autoantibodies, and native thiol, total thiol levels and native thiol/total thiol ratio, while a positive correlation is observed between disulphide, disulphide/native thiol and disulphide/total thiol *** This study is first in the literature which found that the patients with celiac disease the dynamic thiol/disulphide balance shifts through disulphide form compared to the control group.

AIM:To evaluate the effects of honey on bacterial translocation and intestinal villus histopathology in experimental obstructive ***:Thirty Wistar-Albino rats were randomly divided into three groups each including 10 animals:group Ⅰ,sham-operated;group Ⅱ,ligation and section of the common bile duct(BDL);group Ⅲ,bile duct ligation followed by oral supplementation of honey(BDL+honey) 10 g/kg per ***,blood,spleen,mesenteric lymph nodes,and ileal samples were taken for microbiological,light and transmission electrone microscopic ***:Although the number of villi per centimeter and the height of the mucosa were higher in sham group,there was no statistically significant difference between sham and BDL + honey groups(P>0.05).On the other hand,there was a statistically significant difference between BDL group and other groups(Pranslocation(P>0.05).BDL group had significantly higher rates of bacterial translocation as compared with sham and honey *** translocation was predominantly detected in mesenteric lymph ***:Supplementation of honey in presence of obstructive jaundice ameliorates bacterial translocation and improves ileal morphology.

确定了构造活动区发育的第三纪矿脉系统中方解石的同位素组成及其流体包裹体的氘含量。矿脉系统由3组不同走向的方解石脉(Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ)组成,根据穿切关系确定了它们的相对年龄。每组脉具有其特征的方解石δ^(18)O和δ^(13)C值:第Ⅰ组为-7.9‰和+1.59‰;第Ⅱ组为-15.3‰和+0.54‰;第Ⅲ组为-15.9‰和+1.73‰,而最老的一组(Ⅰ)的流体包裹体δD(-23.9‰)与以色列海岸平原雨水和地下水的流体包裹体δD相似,最年轻的一组(Ⅲ)的δD值(-49.6‰)与Hermon山的雨水和地下水的相似,可以认为δD的差异是由于同位素“高程效应”造成的。结论是,水文系统的主要变化与Hermon山区的形成及其高程有关,利用大气降水中δ^(18)O和δD之间的关系计算了第Ⅰ组(35℃)第第Ⅱ组(64℃)矿脉的形成温度,形成温度表明本区矿脉发生在浅部(1.7km)。方解石δ^(18)C表明,围岩是脉状方解石的来源,并且由于压力释放δ^(13)C有约1‰的变化。根据方解石的溶解度取决于压力和造成水力压裂及压力下降后不断增加的孔隙压力循环,讨论了矿脉形成的比较普遍的模式。

Effects of honey as a scolicidal agent on the hepatobiliary system

AIM: To examine the effects of 10% diluted honey, which has been shown to be scolicidal, on the liver and biliary system and determine whether it could be used as a scolicidal agent in the presence of biliary-cystic communication. METHODS: Thirty Wistar-Albino rats were divided into two groups. Honey with 10% dilution in the study group and 0.9% saline (NaCl) in the control group were injected into the common bile ducts of rats through a 3-mm duodenotomy. The animals were sacrificed 6 mo after the procedure. Histopathological, biochemical, and radiological examinations were performed for evaluation of side effects. RESULTS: At the end of the sixth month, liver function tests were found to be normal in both groups. The tissue samples of liver and ductus choledochus of the honey group showed no histomorphologic difference from the control group. No stricture on the biliary tree was detected on the retrograde cholangiograms. CONCLUSION: According to these results, we concluded that 10% diluted honey could be used as scolicidal agent safely in the presence of biliary-cystic communication.
