Developed at Colorado State University, CASC2D-SED is a physically-based model simulating the hydrologic response of a watershed to a distributed rainfall field. The time-dependent processes include: precipitation, interception, infiltration, surface runoff and channel routing, upland erosion, transport and sedimentation. CASC2D-SED is applied to Goodwin Creek, Mississippi. The watershed covers 21 km2 and has been extensively monitored both at the outlet and at several internal locations by the ARS-nSL at oxford, MS. The model has been calibrated and validated using rainfall data from 16 meteorological stations, 6 stream gauging stations and 6 sediment gauging stations. Sediment erosion/deposition rates by size fraction are predicted both in space and time. Geovisualization, a powerful data exploration technique based on GIS technology, is used to analyze and display the dynamic output time series generated by the CASC2D-SED model.

We study two generalized versions of a system of equations which describe the time evolution of the hydrodynamic fluctuations of density and velocity in a linear viscoelastic fluid. In the first of these versions, the time derivatives are replaced by conformable derivatives, and in the second version left-handed Caputo’s derivatives are used. We show that the solutions obtained with these two types of derivatives exhibit significant similarities, which is an interesting (and somewhat surprising) result, taking into account that the conformable derivatives are local operators, while Caputo’s derivatives are nonlocal operators. We also show that the solutions of the generalized systems are similar to the solutions of the original system, if the order α of the new derivatives (conformable or Caputo) is less than one. on the other hand, when α is greater than one, the solutions of the generalized systems are qualitatively different from the solutions of the original system.

Real-world evidence (RWE) is clinical evidence on a medical product’s safety and efficacy that is generated using real-world data (RWD) resulting from routine healthcare delivery. This study evaluates the clinical efficacy of amoxicillin + clavulanic acid in children with pharyngitis, acute otitis, or acute rhinosinusitis with suspected bacterial origin under normal office and home conditions. Methods: This was a real-life, prospective, observational, pharmacovigilance study. It included children of both sexes between 2 and 12 years old, with a diagnosis of Rhinopharyngitis (tonsillitis), Acute otitis Media and Rhinosinusitis. The main effectiveness variable evaluated was reduction and time to resolution of symptoms. All patients received Amoxicillin/Clavulanic Acid suspension 600 mg/42.9 mg/5 mL at a dose of 90 mg/Kg/day in two doses, every 12 hours for 7 days. The evaluations were carried out at the beginning, at 72 hours (3rd day) and at 7 days. All patients underwent culture and antibiogram. Results: The majority of cultures were negative for pathogenic germs, suspecting unidentifiable germs, or viral etiology despite the rigorous selection of subjects following validated scores. The most frequently isolated germ was Staphylococcus aureus;growth of gram-negative bacteria was reported in 33.33% of the cultures. There was a significant improvement in symptoms in children with tonsillitis and rhinosinusitis from the first 72 hours of treatment, persisting until the 7 days. In the otitis media group, returning to normal by the tenth day. During the conduction of this investigation, no adverse effects associated with the prescribed therapy were reported.

In cryptography, the Triple DES (3DES, TDES or officially TDEA) is a symmetric-key block cipher which applies the Data Encryption Standard (DES) cipher algorithm three times to each data block. Electronic payment systems are known to use the TDES scheme for the encryption/decryption of data, and hence faster implementations are of great significance. Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) offer a new solution for optimizing the performance of applications meanwhile the Triple Data Encryption Standard (TDES) offers a mean to secure information. In this paper we present a pipelined implementation in VHDL, in Electronic Code Book (EBC) mode, of this commonly used cryptography scheme with aim to improve performance. We achieve a 48-stage pipeline depth by implementing a TDES key buffer and right rotations in the DES decryption key scheduler. Using the Altera Cyclone II FPGA as our platform, we design and verify the implementation with the EDA tools provided by Altera. We gather cost and throughput information from the synthesis and timing results and compare the performance of our design to common implementations presented in other literatures. our design achieves a throughput of 3.2 Gbps with a 50 MHz clock;a performance increase of up to 16 times.

AIM： To evaluate the surface expression of triggering receptor on myeloid cell 1 （TREM-1）, class Ⅱ major histocompatibility complex molecules （HLA-DR）, and the expression of the splicing variant （svTREH-1） of TREM-1 in septic patients and those subjected to major abdominal surgery. METHoDS： Using flow cytometry, we examined the surface expression of TREM-1 and HLA-DR in peripheral blood monocytes from 11 septic patients, 7 elective gastrointestinal surgical patients, and 10 healthy volunteers, svTREM-1 levels were analyzed by RT-PCR. RESULTS： Basal expression of TREM-1 and HLA- DR in healthy volunteers was 35.91±14.75 MFI and 75.8±18.3%, respectively. In septic patients, TREM-1 expression was 59.9±23.9 MFI and HLA-DR expression was 44.39±20.25%, with a significant difference between healthy and septic groups （P〈0.05） for both molecules. In the surgical patients, TREM-1 and HLA-DR expressions were 56.8±20.85 HFI and 71±13.8% before surgery and 72.65±29.92 MFI and 72.82±22.55% after surgery. TREM-1 expression was significantly different （P = 0.0087） between the samples before and after surgery and svTREM-1 expression was 0.8590± 0.1451 MF1, 0.8820±0.1460 MF1, and 2.210±0.7873 MF1 in the healthy, surgical （after surgery） and septic groups, respectively. There was a significant difference （P = 0.048） in svTREM-1 expression between the healthy and surgical groups and the septic group. ConCLUSIon： TREM-1 expression is increased during systemic inflammatory conditions such as sepsis and the postoperative phase. Simultaneous low expression of HLA-DR molecules correlates with the severity of illness and increases susceptibility to infection. Additionally, TREM-1 expression is distinctly different in surgical patients at different stages of the inflammatory response before and after surgery. Thus, surface TREM-1 appears to be an endogenous signal during the course of the inflammatory response, svTREM-1 expression is significantly increased during sepsis, appearing to be a

AIM To correlate Helicobacter pylori （H. pylorli）, EpsteinBarr virus （EBV） and human papillomavirus （HPV） with gastric cancer （GC） cases in Para State, *** Tissue samples were obtained from 302 gastric adenocarcinomas. A rapid urease test was used to detect the presence of H. pylori, and the presence of the cagA gene in the HP-positive samples was confirmed by PCR. An RnA in situ hybridization test designed to complement Eberl RnA was used to detect the presence of EBV in the samples, and the L1 region of HPV was detected using nested PCR. Positive HPV samples were genotyped and analyzed for E6 and E7 viral gene expression. Infections were also correlated with the clinical and pathological characteristics of the *** The majority of the 302 samples analyzed were obtained from men （65%） aged 55 years or older （67%） and were classified as the intestinal subtype （55%）. All three pathogens were found in the samples analyzed in the present study （H. pylori： 87%, EBV： 20%, HPV： 3%）. overall, 78% of the H. pylori-positive （H. pylorl＋） samples were cagA＋（H. pylori-cagA＋）, and there was an association between the cytotoxic product of this gene and EBV. Coinfections of H. pylori-cagA＋ and EBV were correlated with the most advanced tumor stages. Although only 20% of the tumors were positive for EBV, infection with this virus was associated with distant metastasis. only the HPV 16 and 18 strains were found in the samples, although no expression of the E6 and E7 oncoproteins was detected. The fundus of the stomach was the region least affected by the *** HPV was not involved in gastric tumorigenesis. Prophy- lactic and therapeutic measures against H. pylori and EBV may prevent the development of GC, especially the more aggressive forms.

A large number of papers published in the last decades are related to the effect of ozone exposure on mortality worldwide. Several studies have been performed to investigate the effect of ozone on mortality in Madrid （Spain）, but the findings of these local reports were focused only on the Madrid city. The association of daily concentrations of ozone with daily mortality was investigated using autoregressive Poisson regression models. This study explores the effects of ozone on all causes except accidents, cardiovascular and respiratory short-term mortality in two areas of the Madrid region： an urban area constituted by the Madrid municipality and an industrial sub-urban area surrounding the city. Using three years of daily data （2003-2005）, it was analyzed the all-ages populations and the over-64 age groups. The average ozone concentrations over the study period were 54.07 ± 27.17 μg/m3 in the Madrid municipality and 70.09 ± 32.96 μg/m3 in the sub-urban municipalities surrounding the city. our results in the all-ages group indicated that 0.69% of all causes except accidents, 1.15% of cardiovascular and 1.56% of respiratory daily deaths, respectively, could be attributed to exposure to ozone in the Madrid city, whereas 11.69% of daily respiratory deaths were attributable to ozone exposure in the Madrid sub-urban surroundings. our results show a clear association between mortality and ozone exposure. The spatial heterogeneity of ozone effects on short-term mortality throughout the Madrid region may have implications for local environmental policies and also for social and health services planning.
