Patterns of species dominance, diversity and dispersion in ‘Khasi hill sal' forest ecosystem in northeast India

Background： The ＇Khasi hill sal＇ forest ecosystem in Meghalaya, India represents the easternmost limit of sal distribution. We tested if tree diversity and compositional heterogeneity of this ecosystem was higher than other sal-dominated forests due to moister environment. Methods： Vegetation was sampled in 11 transects of 10 m width and up to 500 m length covering 5.2 ha area. All stems ≥10 cm girth at breast height were enumerated. Results： We found a pattern of mixed dominance of Shored robusta （sal） and Schima wollichii and co-dominance of Pinus kesiyo and Careya arborea. The Shannon＇s diversity index （H＇） was 3.395 nats. This value is remarkably high and competitive to that of moist sal forests of eastern Himalayan foothills and sal-dominated forests of Tripura. A high value of H＇ was manifested by： a） high species richness （S = 123）, b） good equitability （70.6%）, c）＇fair＇ resource apportionment, and d） abundance of rare species （84% species with less than one per cent of total individuals, 67% species with two or less individuals ha-1 and 59% species with one or less individuals ha-1）. The compositional heterogeneity was ＇fair＇（Whittaker＇sβw = 3.15）. The presence of Fagaceae with six species commanding 4.3% of importance value （IVl） and of a pine （P. kesiya） in sal forest was remarkable. As many as 58 species showed ＇low density （〈 10 individuals ha-1）, uniform dispersion＇, five species achieved ＇higher density （〉 10 individuals ha-l）, uniform dispersion＇ and six of the top 10 species were ＇clumped＇. The forest showed an exponential demographic curve illustrating ＇good＇ regeneration of an expanding community. Vertical stratification was simple with a poor canopy and fair subcanopy, which together with low basal area （15.65 m2 . ha-1 for individuals ≥ 10 cm gbh） indicated logging of mature sal trees in the past. Polytene chromosomes of an Indian Himalayan black fly Simulium (Nevermannia) praelargum (Diptera:Simuliidae)

High quality polytene chromosome maps （n=3） of a Himalayan Simuliid Simulium praelargum Datta, 1973 are presented and represent the first cytological description of a taxon found in the feuerborni group, subgenus Nevermannia. Polytene chromosomes one （I） and two （II） are metacentric, chromosome three （III） is submetacentric with the length of each chromosome occupying 37.25 %, 31.36 % and 31.34 % of the total complement length, respectively. Typical simuliid diagnostic intergeneric chromosomal markers are found within the polytene complement of this species. The nucleolar organizer （N.O.） is found at the base of the short arm of chromosome one （IS）, the Ring of Balbiani （R.B.）, double bubble （D.B.） and triad occur in the short arm of chromosome two （IIS）, the Parabalbiani Ring （EB.） and grey band （gb） occur in the long arm of chromosome two （IIL） and the Blister （BL） and Capsule （Ca） occur in the short arm of chromosome three （IIIS）.Terminal bands at the end of IIIS are heterochromatinized and present atypically with respect to other simuliid fauna. Populations studied so far are unique among the Simuliidae in that they exhibit chromosome structural monomorphism. These high resolution polytene chromosome maps will form the basis for future cytological characterization and phylogenetic comparisons amongst members of the feuerborni group

Epilepsy is considered as a serious brain disorder in which patients frequently experience *** seizures are defined as the unexpected electrical changes in brain neural activity,which leads to *** researches made an intense effort for predicting the epileptic seizures using brain signal ***,they faced difficulty in obtaining the patients'characteristics because the model's distribution turned to fake predictions,affecting the model's *** addition,the existing prediction models have severe issues,such as overfitting and false positive *** overcome these existing issues,we propose a deep learning approach known as Deep dual‐patch attention mechanism(D^(2)PAM)for classifying the pre‐ictal signals of people with Epilepsy based on the brain *** neural network is integrated with D^(2)PAM,and it lowers the effect of differences between patients to predict *** multi‐network design enhances the trained model's generalisability and stability ***,the proposed model for processing the brain signal is designed to transform the signals into data blocks,which is appropriate for pre‐ictal *** earlier warning of epilepsy with the proposed model obtains the auxiliary *** data of real patients for the experiments provides the improved accuracy by D2PAM approximation compared to the existing *** be more distinctive,the authors have analysed the performance of their work with five patients,and the accuracy comes out to be 95%,97%,99%,99%,and 99%***,the numerical results unveil that the proposed work outperforms the existing models.

Detection of urinary antigens and their seroreactivity with serum of patients in Leishmania donovani infection

Objective:To detect leishmanial antigens in pre and post treated urine of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) ***:Urine and serum sample from three VL patients were collected. Ammonium sulphate precipitation and purification of urine sample was done for proteins *** PAGE of proteins was done followed by western blotting,with the patient’s pre and post treatment ***:Eight proteins of molecular weights 17 kDa,25 kDa,28 kDa,42 kDa, 47 kDa,54 kDa,60 kDa and 85 kDa were detected in the urine of VL patients before treatment. After treatment with miltefosine,none of the above proteins was detected in urine *** western blot analysis with pre treatment serum confirmed the antigenicity of four urinary proteins of molecular weights 25 kDa,28 kDa,54 kDa and 60 *** seropositivity with 25 kDa and 28 kDa antigens was negative with serum obtained after the completion of ***:In the context to unavailability of a prognostic tool,urinary leishmanial antigens may offer a better choice and may also be useful as immunoprophylactic candidates.

Computer vision is a consistent and advanced technique for image processing,with the propitious outcome,and enormous potential.A computer vision has been strongly adopted in the heterogeneous domain including *** the study of existing research on the role of computer vision in fruits and vegetables among various horticulture products of agriculture fields it is noticed that,the existing survey paper has not focused properly on mathematical framework,feature descriptor,defect detection on multiple datasets of fruits and vegetables *** has motivated us to undertake an extensive *** this paper,we examine the paper broadly related to fruits and vegetables among various horticulture products of agriculture fields,specific model,data pre-processing,data analysis method and overall value of performance accuracy by using a particular performance ***,we study the different type of disease present in various fruit and *** have also focused on the comparison of different machine learning approach with respect to different performance metrics on the same ***,we have found that among all existing machine learning techniques SVM give better classification accuracy.A generalized framework to grade the quality and defect detection of multiple fruits and vegetables is also proposed in this *** paper covers the survey of ninety-eight papers closely related to computer vision in the agricultural *** the survey,we have found that computer vision plays an important role and has a large potential to address the challenges related to the agricultural fields.

The rye genome has shown potential for improvement of bread wheat,where wheat-rye substitutions and translocations have been and are frequently used in resistance *** belongs to different generations viz.,BC_(1)F_(1),BC_(1)F_(2),BC_(1)F_(3),BC_(1)F_(4)and BC_(2)F_(3)of triticale×wheat derived were used for different haploid induction parameters using Gogon grass(Imperata cylindrica)as a pollen *** percentage of pseudo seed formation ranged from 34.55%for BC_(1)F_(2)to 63.77 for BC_(1)F_(1)crosses,the haploid embryo formation ranges from 9.43%for BC_(1)F_(1)to 30.2%for BC_(1)F_(2),the haploid plant generation ranges from 19.36%for BC_(1)F_(2)to 63.25%for BC_(1)F_(1).Four doubled haploids were developed from ITSN 105/58-VL 802-VL 802 of BC_(2)F_(3)underwent molecular cytogenetic analyses using the probes,viz.,rye genomic rDNA,pSc 119 and *** and GISH analysis revealed an IBL.1RS translocation and substitution of 5R chromosome instead of the 5D chromosomes in these doubled haploids.

Thermostable Broad Band Polarizing PVA-Film: Theoretical and Experimental Investigations

In the present work, for the first time on the basis ofpoly （vinyl alcohol）（PVA）, 2- （4-dimethylaminostyryl）-l-ethylquinolinium iodide （quinaldine red （QR）） and trisodium （4E）-5-oxo- 1-（4-sulfonatophenyl）-4-[（4-sulfonatophenyl）hydrazono]-3 pyrazolecarboxylate （tartrazine （T））, thermostable polarizing film in a wide range of spectra （λmax=394-511 nm） with polarization efficiency （PE） = 98% in absorption maximum and stretching degree （Rs） = 3.5 was developed. The basic spectral-polarization parameters （polarization efficiency and transmittance） of oriented colored PVA-films were measured and discussed. During the work it was found that oriented PVA-films are the phenomenon of anisotropy of thermal conductivity （λ｜/λ⊥）. It is a very important parameter for the development of thermostable PVA-polarizing films. For the first time quantum-chemical calculations using density functional theory （DFT） approach for structural analysis and electronic spectrum of the QR were carried out via the B3LYP/dgdzvp and TDB3LYP/dgdzvp methods. Interpretation of absorption strips in visible region of spectrum was also reported. The excitation energies, electronic transitions and oscillator strengths for the studied structures have also been calculated （B3LYP/dgdzvp）. The NBO analysis and Mulliken atomic charges of the QR were carried out.
