Histopathological findings in cholecystectomies specimens:A single institution study of 20 584 cases

Background: The histopathological examination of cholecystectomy specimens has not been standardized with a debate concerning the routine and the selective approach. The aim of this study was to assess the information obtained from routine histopathological examination of cholecystectomy ***: All histopathological reports of cholecystectomy specimens between January 2003 and December 2016 were analyzed, including a clinical diagnosis of benign gallstone disease or ***: A total of 20,584 reports were examined. The mean age of patients was 54.2 years. Patients aged more than 60 years represent 37.6% of the study population. Of all patients, 15,973(77.6%) were *** gallbladder cancers(GBC) were present in 155 cholecystectomies specimens(0.8%). 67.1% of GBC are at T2 and T3 stage. Granulomatous cholecystitis was diagnosed in only 19 cases(0.1%). GBC were more prevalent in older patients(P < 10-6) and cholesterolosis was more prevalent in young patients(P < 10-6). There was no gender predilection for GBC(P = 0.739).Conclusions: The rate of incidental gallbladder carcinoma in our study is low, yet, we found a higher proportion of T2 and T3 carcinomas stage. Granulomatous cholecystitis may need further investigations and treatments. When a selective approch of histopathological examination of cholecystectomy specimens is used, it is important to take into account that clinical parameters are significantly associated with gallbladder cancer.

Effect of solid particles on gear tooth failure

The failure of spur gears operating in highly contaminated media was studied. In fact, the effect of the presence of solid particles in gear mechanisms during surface tooth contact was observed. It is shown that the solid contaminants lead to significant wear in the first few operating cycles, in zones with a high rate of sliding. The scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images show clearly that the wear is more significant for a dry contact in the presence of larger size particles. Indeed, the presence of contaminants leads to an increase in friction, and therefore raises the temperature and the vibration levels when the operation of gear mechanism becomes very severe especially for a dry contact under the effect of larger size particles. On the other hand, we have tried to obtain a better understanding and a good description of wear debris distributions in gear mechanisms by using unimodal, single distribution models(Weibull and three-parameter Weibull).

Heat transfer of copper/water nanofluid flow through converging-diverging channel

The main objective of this work is to investigate analytically the steady nanofluid flow and heat transfer characteristics between nonparallel plane walls. Using appropriate transformations for the velocity and temperature, the basic nonlinear partial differential equations are reduced to the ordinary differential equations. Then, these equations have been solved analytically and numerically for some values of the governing parameters, Reynolds number, Re, channel half angle, α, Prandtl number, Pr, and Eckert number, Ec, using Adomian decomposition method and the Runge-Kutta method with mathematic package. Analytical and numerical results are searched for the skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and the velocity and temperature profiles. It is found on one hand that the Nusselt number increases as Eckert number or channel half-angle increases, but it decreases as Reynolds number increases. On the other hand, it is also found that the presence of Cu nanoparticles in a water base fluid enhances heat transfer between nonparallel plane walls and in consequence the Nusselt number increases with the increase of nanoparticles volume fraction. Finally, an excellent agreement between analytical results and those obtained by numerical Runge-Kutta method is highly noticed.

Argumentative Conversational Agents for Online Discussions

Artificial Intelligence is revolutionising our communication practices and the ways in which we interact with each other. This revolution does not only impact how we communicate, but it affects the nature of the partners with whom we communicate. Online discussion platforms now allow humans to communicate with artificial agents in the form of socialbots. Such agents have the potential to moderate online discussions and even manipulate and alter public opinions. In this paper, we propose to study this phenomenon using a constructed large-scale agent platform. At the heart of the platform lies an artificial agent that can moderate online discussions using argumentative messages. We investigate the influence of the agent on the evolution of an online debate involving human participants. The agent will dynamically react to their messages by moderating, supporting, or attacking their stances. We conducted two experiments to evaluate the platform while looking at the effects of the conversational agent. The first experiment is a large-scale discussion with 1076 citizens from Afghanistan discussing urban policy-making in the city of Kabul. The goal of the experiment was to increase the citizen involvement in implementing Sustainable Development Goals. The second experiment is a small-scale debate between a group of 16 students about globalisation and taxation in Myanmar. In the first experiment, we found that the agent improved the responsiveness of the participants and increased the number of identified ideas and issues. In the second experiment, we found that the agent polarised the debate by reinforcing the initial stances of the participant.

τSQWRL:A TSQL2-Like Query Language for Temporal Ontologies Generated from JSON Big Data

Temporal ontologies allow to represent not only concepts,their properties,and their relationships,but also time-varying information through explicit versioning of definitions or through the four-dimensional perdurantist *** are widely used to formally represent temporal data semantics in several applications belonging to different fields(e.g.,Semantic Web,expert systems,knowledge bases,big data,and artificial intelligence).They facilitate temporal knowledge representation and discovery,with the support of temporal data querying and ***,there is no standard or consensual temporal ontology query *** a previous work,we have proposed an approach namedτJOWL(temporal OWL 2 from temporal JSON,where OWL 2 stands for"OWL 2 Web Ontology Language"and JSON stands for"JavaScript Object Notation").τJOWL allows(1)to automatically build a temporal OWL 2 ontology of data,following the Closed World Assumption(CWA),from temporal JSON-based big data,and(2)to manage its incremental maintenance accommodating their evolution,in a temporal and multi-schema-version *** this paper,we propose a temporal ontology query language forτJOWL,namedτSQWRL(temporal SQWRL),designed as a temporal extension of the ontology query language—Semantic Query-enhanced Web Rule Language(SQWRL).The new language has been inspired by the features of the consensual temporal query language TSQL2(Temporal SQL2),well known in the temporal(relational)database *** aim of the proposal is to enable and simplify the task of retrieving any desired ontology version or of specifying any(complex)temporal query on time-varying ontologies generated from time-varying big *** examples,in the Internet of Healthcare Things(IoHT)domain,are provided to motivate and illustrate our proposal.

τJOWL:A Systematic Approach to Build and Evolve a Temporal OWL 2 Ontology Based on Temporal JSON Big Data

Nowadays,ontologies,which are defined under the OWL 2 Web Ontology Language(OWL 2),are being used in several fields like artificial intelligence,knowledge engineering,and Semantic Web environments to access data,answer queries,or infer new *** particular,ontologies can be used to model the semantics of big data as an enabling factor for the deployment of intelligent *** data are being widely stored and exchanged in JavaScript Object Notation(JSON)format,in particular by Web ***,JSON data collections lack explicit semantics as they are in general schema-less,which does not allow to efficiently leverage the benefits of big ***,several applications require bookkeeping of the entire history of big data changes,for which no support is provided by mainstream Big Data management systems,including Not only SQL(NoSQL)database *** this paper,we propose an approach,namedJOWL(temporal OWL 2 from temporal JSON),which allows users(i)to automatically build a temporal OWL 2 ontology of data,following the Closed World Assumption(CWA),from temporal JSON-based big data,and(ii)to manage its incremental maintenance accommodating the evolution of these data,in a temporal and multi-schema environment.

Cooperative search-attack is an important application of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)swarm in military *** coupling between path planning and task allocation,the heterogeneity of UAVs,and the dynamic nature of task environment greatly increase the complexity and difficulty of the UAV swarm cooperative search-attack mission planning *** by the collaborative hunting behavior of wolf pack,a distributed selforganizing method for UAV swarm search-attack mission planning is ***,to solve the multi-target search problem in unknown environments,a wolf scouting behavior-inspired cooperative search algorithm for UAV swarm is ***,a distributed self-organizing task allocation algorithm for UAV swarm cooperative attacking of targets is proposed by analyzing the flexible labor division behavior of *** abstracting the UAV as a simple artificial wolf agent,the flexible motion planning and group task coordinating for UAV swarm can be realized by *** effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by a set of simulation experiments,the stability and scalability are evaluated,and the integrated solution for the coupled path planning and task allocation problems for the UAV swarm cooperative search-attack task can be well performed.

Synthesis of zinc oxide nanocrystals by thermal decomposition of Zn-oleate in organic medium

We report the synthesis of uniform-sized hexagonal ZnO nanocrystals by the thermolysis of Zn-oleate complex,which was prepared from the reaction of inexpensive and environmentally friendly reagents such as zinc nitrate and sodium *** organic compounds with different boiling points,octadecene and octylether,were selected as the medium for thermolysis of Zn-oleate *** optimized reaction conditions,we were able to synthesize ZnO nanoparticles with the size being about 10 nm.X-ray diffraction and transmission electron micrograph(TEM) images confirmed the high crystallinity of the nanocrystals.

The selective aqueous-phase glycerol hydrogenolysis is a promising reaction to produce commercially useful 1,3-propanediol(1,3-PDO).The Pt-WOx bifunctional catalyst can catalyse the glycerol hydrogenol-ysis but the catalyst deactivation via sintering,metal leaching,and coking can predominantly occur in the aqueous phase *** this work,the effect of reaction temperature,pressure and second promoter(Cu,Fe,Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,Sn,B,and P)on catalytic performance and deactivation behaviour of Pt/WOx/-Al2O3 was *** doped with Rh,Mn,Re,Ru,Ir,B,and P,the second promoter boosts catalytic activity by promoting great dispersion of Pt on support and increasing Pt surface *** increased Bronsted acid sites lead to selective synthesis of 1,3-PDO than 1,2-propanediol(1,2-PDO).The characterization studies of fresh and spent catalysts reveal that the main cause of catalyst deactivation is the Pt sintering,as interpreted based on XRD,CO chemisorption,and TEM *** Pt sintering is affected depending on the second promoter that can either or reduce the interaction between Pt,WO_(χ)/γ and Al_(2)O_(3).As an electron acceptor of Pt in Pt/WO_(χ)/γ-Al_(2)O_(3),Re and Mn as second promoters resulted in increased Pt^(2+) on the catalytic surface,which strengthens the contact between Pt andγ-Al_(2)O_(3) and WO_(χ),resulting in a decrease in Pt *** metal leaching and coking are not affected by the presence of second *** catalyst modified with a second promoter possesses improved catalytic activity and 1,3-PDO production,however the stability continues to remain a *** present work unrav-elled the determining parameters of catalytic activity and deactivation,thus providing a promising pro-tocol toward effective catalysts for glycerol hydrogenolysis.
