Tars and alkali ashes from biomass gasification processes currently constitute one of the major problems in biomass valorisation, generating clogging of filters and issues related with the purity of syngas production. To date, these waste residues find no useful applications and they are generally disposed upon generation in the gasification process. A detailed analysis of these residues pointed out the presence of high quantities of Ca （〉30 wt%）. TG experiments indicated that a treatment under air at moderate temperatures （400-800 ~C） decomposed the majority of carbon species, while XRD indicated the presence of a crystalline CaO phase. CaO enriched valorized materials turned out to be good heterogeneous catalysts for biodiesel production from vegetable oils, providing moderate to good activities （50%-70% after 12 h） to fatty acid methyl esters in the transesterification of sunflower oil with methanol.

Stable carbon isotope geochemistry provides important information for the recognition of funda- mental isotope exchange processes related to the movement of carbon in the lithosphere and permits the elab- oration of models for the global carbon cycle. Carbon isotope ratios in fluid-deposited graphite are powerful tools for unravelling the ultimate origin of carbon （organic matter, mantle, or carbonates） and help to constrain the fluid history and the mechanisms involved in graphite deposition. Graphite precipitation in fluid-deposited occurrences results from C02- and/or CH4-bearing aqueous fluids. Fluid flow can be considered as both a closed （without replenishment of the fluid） or an open system （with renewal of the fluid by successive fluid batches）. In closed systems, carbon isotope systematics in graphite is mainly governed by Rayleigh precipi- tation and/or by changes in temperature affecting the fractionation factor between fluid and graphite. Such processes result in zoned graphite crystals or in successive graphite generations showing, in both cases, isotopic variation towards progressive 13C or 12C enrichment （depending upon the dominant carbon phase in the fluid, C02 or CH4, respectively）. In open systems, in which carbon is episodically introduced along the fracture systems, the carbon systematics is more complex and individual graphite crystals may display oscillatory zoning because of Rayleigh precipitation or heterogeneous variations of 613C values when mixing of fluids or changes in the composition of the fluids are the mechanisms responsible for graphite precipitation.

Purpose: The objective of the present study was to determine whether a denervated muscle extract(DmEx) could stimulate satellite cell response in denervated ***: Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups: normal rats, normal rats treated with DmEx, denervated rats, and denervated rats treated with DmEx. The soleus muscles were examined using immunohistochemical techniques for proliferating cell nuclear antigen, desmin, and myogenic differentiation antigen(myoD), and electron microscopy was used for analysis of the satellite ***: The results indicate that while denervation causes activation of satellite cells, DmEx also induces myogenic differentiation of cells localized in the interstitial space and the formation of new muscle fibers. Although DmEx had a similar effect in nature on innervated and denervated muscles, this response was of greater magnitude in denervated vs. intact ***: Our study shows that treatment of denervated rats with DmEx potentiates the myogenic response in atrophic denervated muscles.

The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of alexidine（ALX）,alone and combined with N-acetylcysteine（NAC）,in eradicating two Enterococcus faecalis strain *** biofilms of *** ATCC 29212 and the clinical isolate *** D1 were grown in the mBEC-high-throughput device for 24 h and were exposed to five twofold dilutions of ALX（2%–0.007 8%）alone and combined with100 mg？mL21NAC,for 1 and 5 *** was defined as 100%kill of biofilm *** Student’s t-test was used to compare the efficacy of the associations of the two *** 1-min contact time,ALX eradicated the biofilms at all concentrations except for 0.007 8%and 0.015 6%–0.007 8%with *** ATCC 29212 and *** D1,*** results for eradication and concentration were obtained when it was combined with 100 mg？*** 5 min of contact time,ALX alone and combined with NAC eradicated all enterococci *** showed antimicrobial properties against the two *** strain biofilms tested at very low concentrations,and its combined use with NAC was not seen to enhance its activity.

Effective final irrigation regimen is an important step in order to achieve better disinfection and ensure residual antimicrobial effects after root canal preparation. The aim of this study was to compare the residual antimicrobial activity of 0.2% cetrimide, and 0.2% and 2% chlorhexidine in root canals infected with Enterococcus faecalis. Biofilms of E. faecalis were grown on uniradicular roots for 4 weeks. After root canal preparation, root canals were irrigated with 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid （EDTA） to remove the smear layer. The roots were randomly divided into three experimental groups （n=26） according to the final irrigating solution： Group I, 5 mL 0.2% cetrimide; Group II, 5 mL 0.2% chlorhexidine; and Group III, 5 mL 2% chlorhexidine. Samples were collected for 50 days to denote the presence of bacterial growth. The proportion of ungrown specimens over 50 days was evaluated using the nonparametric Kaplan-meier survival analysis. Differences among groups were tested using the log-rank test and the level of statistical significance was set at P〈0.05. The highest survival value was found with 2% chlorhexidine, showing statistically significant differences from the other two groups. At 50 days, E. faecalisgrowth was detected in 69.23% specimens in Groups I and II, and in 34.61% specimens of Group III. There were no significant differences between 0.2% cetrimide and 0.2% chlorhexidine. Final irrigation with 2% chlorhexidine showed greater residual activity than 0.2% chlorhexidine and 0.2% cetrimide in root canals infected with E. faecalis.

This research was designed to analyze the possible associations of Arg389 Gly ADRB1 and Trp64 Arg ADRB3polymorphisms in children with obesity.A cross-sectional study included 1,046 school-age mexican participants（6-12 years old） from the cities of San Luis Potosi and *** were classified as non-obese or obese according to their body mass index（BmI） percentile;obese children had a BmI≥95th percentile for sex and *** data were *** were detected using Taqman qPCR assay.A logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the risk of obesity based on *** were found between groups where obese children had a significant increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure,fasting plasma glucose,insulin,HOmAIR,LDL-cholesterol,triglycerides,and lower HDL-cholesterol compared with the normal weight group（P 〈 0.05）.The distribution of allele frequency in the population was Arg = 87.4 and Gly = 12.6（Hardy Weinberg equilibrium x^2= 3.16,P = 0.07）;Trp = 81.5 and Arg= 18.5（Hardy Weinberg equilibrium x^2 = 2.2,P = 0.14） for ADRB1 and ADRB3,*** though no different frequencies of Arg389 Gly polymoiphism between groups were found（P = 0.08）,children carriers of one Gly389,ADRB1 allele had a risk for obesity of OR = 1.40（95%CI,1.03-1.90,P =0.03） after adjustment for age and *** other association was found for Trp64 Arg ADRB3 *** the Arg389 Gly ADRB1 polymorphism was associated with risk for obesity in mexican children.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine if heart rate variability(HRV) during incremental test could be used to estimate ventilatory threshold(VT) in professional basketball players, with sufficient precision to be used in their training. Furthermore, the second aim was to analyse the association between HRV and 3 methods of VT determination by gas ***: Twenty-four professional basketball players(age: 23.4 ± 4.9 years; height: 195.4 ± 9.8 cm; body mass: 92.2 ± 11.9 kg) performed an incremental running test to exhaustion. First ventilatory threshold(VT1) was determined by ventilatory equivalent(VE) and HRV and second ventilatory threshold(VT2) was determined by 3 methods of gases analysis(V-slope, VE and gas exchange ratio(R), and HRV). Pearson's coefficient(r) was used to detect differences between data and the strength of each relationship. The mean of absolute differences and Bland–Altman analysis were used to evaluate whether there was ***: The results showed no significant differences in HR and oxygen consumption(VO2) at VT1 between the 2 methods. Furthermore, no significant differences among the methods of gases analysis and HRV were observed in speed, HR, and VO2 at VT2. moreover, VTs estimated using HRV and gas methods were significantly correlated. Correlation in HR values was higher between R and HRV(r = 0.96) and VE and HRV(r = 0.96) than V-slope and HRV(r = 0.90).Conclusion: These findings provide a practical, inexpensive approach for evaluating specific training loads when determining VT2 in basketball players. Therefore, HRV is an alternative method to determine VT2 without the application of expensive technology that limits its use to laboratories.
