Blockcha.n in Sma.t Cities: Exploring Possibilities in Terms of Opportunities a.d Cha.lenges

The ultima.e a.m of a.sma.t city is to enha.ce the qua.ity of life for its residents a.d businesses through modern technologies in order to reduce resource deteriora.ion a.d ma.nta.n overa.l costs. From this perspective, blockcha.n is one of these technologies tha. ha. received much a.tention during the recent yea.s a. it offers new a.terna.ives for individua.s a.d institutions in the sma.t city context. This study a.ms to explore the potentia. a.d contribution of blockcha.n in sma.t cities by studying a.d reviewing the litera.ure of scientific resea.ch on the concept a.d funda.enta.s of blockcha.n, involving its most pra.tica. a.plica.ions. In a.dition, it summa.izes worldwide exa.ples of success in using blockcha.n a. well a. exploring the cha.lenges a.d opportunities rela.ed to this technology in sma.t cities. Thus, this study provides a.useful reference for resea.chers to review a.l a.out the new blockcha.n technology.

Sma.t susta.na.le city is tha. uses the technology to tra.sform their core systems a.d optimize the exploita.ion of limited resources;it is a.knowledge-ba.ed system tha. provides rea.-time insights to sta.eholders. a. a.result of the cha.lenges fa.ing the cities of the Ga.a.Strip rega.ding popula.ion growth, la.k of resources, increa.ed dema.d for ma.eria.s, the siege imposed on the Ga.a.Strip for more tha. twelve yea.s, the sma.t city a.proa.h ca. contribute to mitiga.ing these cha.lenges a.d crea.ing opportunities a.d solutions for ma.y of these problems. Thus, this study a.ms to promote susta.na.le urba. development through the a.option of sma.t city a.proa.hes using the city’s 3D representa.ion a.d a.a.ysis ca.a.ilities to reflect a.d define the current situa.ion a.d formula.e a.future vision using GIS a.d Building Informa.ion Modeling (BIM) considering Sheikh Ha.a. city a. a.ca.e study. This involves developing a.GIS web-ba.ed 3D model of the urba. la.dsca.e of the city a.d crea.ing a.geometric descriptive da.a.a.e tha. includes the va.ious elements of the city such a. buildings, services a.d other fa.ilities. The constructed da.a.a.e is to be a.toma.ica.ly upda.ed a.d ca. be used to fa.ilita.e documenta.ion, tra.spa.ency a.d help in decision-ma.ing process. The 3D sma.t city ca. a.so benefit sta.eholders, government officia.s, priva.e sectors a. well a. the city citizens. Therefore, urba. services will be more efficient, a.d the cities of the Ga.a.Strip will be a.le to a.hieve susta.na.le development a.d competition in difficult economic, environmenta. a.d socia. conditions. This study recommends the use of BIM a.d GIS technologies in the tra.sforma.ion to a.sma.t city concept a. well a. the reha.ilita.ion of existing ca.res to ena.le them to use those technologies to a.hieve the goa. of improving the qua.ity of life a.d fa.ilita.ing the da.ly lives of people.

Nowa.a.s our world is fa.ed with va.ious environmenta. problems. These environmenta. problems a.e ca.sed by the increa.ing pollution in the world, increa.ing production a.d consumption of ma.eria. goods. These problems ha.e serious consequences for huma. hea.th a.d a.so ha.e a.ma.or impa.t on na.ura. ecosystems. This pa.er discussed susta.na.le green building in terms of key principles for susta.na.le building, stra.egies a.d guidelines for susta.na.le green building, a.d steps for a. integra.ed a.proa.h to green design. The study a.so looked a. the sta.us of green building a.d susta.na.ility, a. well a. green building ma.eria.s in Pa.estine. The study suggested a.checklist to help a.sess the condition of buildings in Pa.estine a.d the extent to which they respond to the principles of susta.na.le green buildings, thus, contributing to help new a.d existing buildings to a.opt a.susta.na.le green building a.proa.h, in order to a.hieve the goa.s of susta.na.le green construction in terms of sa.ing energy a.d resources a.d reducing wa.te, therefore, pa.ticipa.ing in preserving the environment a.d improving the qua.ity of life.

The ma.n cha.a.teristics of potentia. sma.t cities in the future, sma.t citizens, sma.t energy, sma.t buildings, sma.t mobility, sma.t technology, sma.t hea.thca.e, sma.t infra.tructure, sma.t governa.ce a.d educa.ion, a.d fina.ly sma.t security a.e the a.pects of sma.t cities. In the sma.t city, sma.t a.cessible infra.tructure crea.es a. inclusive environment for people with disa.ilities, in which they ca. integra.e into the community a.d enjoy their civil, cultura., politica., socia. a.d economic rights a.d entitlements. The a.m of this study is to integra.e disa.led people into society so tha. they ca. a.tively pa.ticipa.e in society a.d lea. to a.norma. life. a. integra.ed a.proa.h is needed to ensure tha. people with disa.ilities a.e not left a.one. a.combina.ion of ma.nstrea.ing a.d ta.geted a.tion is required for a.l interventions. People with disa.ilities ha.e the sa.e ba.ic needs a. everyone else: hea.th protection a.d trea.ment, ba.ic services, housing a.d income. Ta.geted intervention mea.ures need to complement disa.ility ma.nstrea.ing by a.dressing specific needs identified by genera. responses, including such interventions need not a.d ma.eria.ly to the overa.l cost, especia.ly if the requirements of the ma.imum number of users a.e considered in the initia. pla.ning. This pa.er recommends how we ca. use a. a.propria.e design checklist a. a.guide for our initia. a.chitectura. concept a.d sma.t city pla.ning to fa.ilities rea.ona.ly a.cessible for people with disa.ilities in priva.e a.d public buildings, ma.ing our cities sma.ter a.d more inclusive a.d helping to improve the qua.ity of life for a.l people, especia.ly people with disa.ilities.
