Sheet-metal products are integral parts of engineering industries and academia research. Various testing techniques have revealed the deformation behaviors of sheet metals under complex stress states. Information obtained from tensile and compression tests, however, are insufficient for the identification of material parameters relevant to modern constitutive laws, which require experimental setups capable of generating various loading conditions and applying great amounts of strain to sheet metals. In-plane shear testing has emerged as an important method to overcome the challenges associated with tension and compression tests and can provide additional information about deformation behaviors under large plastic strains. Materials such as Mg alloys with poor levels of both ductility and formability cannot accommodate large plastic strains. Therefore, tension and compression tests have limitations in explaining the material behaviors that occur during sheet metal forming where large plastic strains are introduced. Many studies have been conducted to explain the deformation behaviors of Mg alloys under shear deformation techniques. These include severe plastic deformation(SPD), especially the equal channel angular pressing(ECAP)and equal channel angular extrusion, rolling combined with shear deformation i.e. differential speed rolling(DSR), and also in-plane shear for sheet metals, particularly under large levels of plastic strain. These in-plane shear technique involves the Miyauchi shear test, ASTM shear test, and twin bridge shear tests. Moreover, many experimental results have revealed that the evolution of microstructure and texture during in-plane shear is closely related to the failure behavior of materials. Sm^(3+)induced structural phase transition,spectral,morphological,magnetic,dielectric and impedance properties of Ni_(0.1)Cu_(0.9)Sm_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4) nanoferrites

In the present study,rare earth samarium(Sm^(3+))substituted Ni-Cu spinel ferrites with the composition of Ni_(0.1)Cu_(0.9)Sm_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4)(0≤x≤0.05 in steps of 0.01)were synthesized by using the citrate induced sol-gel auto combustion *** ferrites'structural,optical,magnetic,and dielectric studies were carried out using X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis),a vibrational sample magnetometer(VSM),and an LCR *** pure Ni-Cu ferrite exhibits a tetragonal structure owing to the presence of the John Tellar ion(Cu^(2+)).XRD patterns confirm that the tetragonal structure gradually transforms into the cubic spinel structure with samarium *** nano-scale structures of these ferrites were confirmed by the average crystallite size(10.11-20.99 nm)derived from the X-ray diffraction patterns,and grain size(42.60-83.36 nm)assessed from FESEM *** existence of elements according to their chemical composition was verified by using energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)*** absorption bands(v_(1) and v_(2))detected in FTIR transmission spectra below the wavenumber of 600 cm^(-1)reveal the stretching vibrations of M-O bonds in the spinel structure at tetrahedral and octahedral *** band gap ene rgy obtained from UV absorption reveals the semiconducting nature of the *** high saturation magnetization(M_(s))is noticed at 15 K temperature for x=0.02 composition as 32.98 emu/g,while at 300 K for x=0.01composition as 27.61 emu/*** suggested cation distribution is in good agreement with observed and predicted magnetic moment values at 300 *** expected behavior of ferrites reveals the observed dielectric constant,loss tangent,and ac-conductivity values in the frequency range of 20 Hz-20 ***-Cole plots confirm that the impedance contribution is attributed to grain boundaries.

Cobalt Schiff base complexes: Synthesis characterization and catalytic application in Suzuki–Miyaura reaction

3-Methoxysalicylaldehyde was condensed with the amines 4-aminoacetophenone and 2-amino-5-bromopyridine to obtain Schiff base ligands, 1 and 2, which were coordinated to cobalt salts as complex 1 and complex 2, respectively. The synthesized ligands and complexes were characterized by spectroscopic(FT-IR,UV–Vis,~1H-NMR and mass spectrometry), thermal(TGA) and elemental analysis. The structures of the complexes were verified by evaluating their magnetic susceptibility and spectroscopic evidences. Synthesized complexes were studied for their catalytic activity in the Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling of aryl halides with phenylboronic acid. Optimized reaction yields 90% of the cyanobiphenyl for complex 1 and 91% for complex 2 with 0.1 mmol of catalyst loading thereby substantiating the C\\C coupling efficiency of the synthesized complexes, 1 and 2.

A genetic algorithm based improved optimal sizing strategy for solar-wind-battery hybrid system using energy filter algorithm

Pore structure effects on the kinetics of methanol oxidation over nanocast mesoporous perovskites

Mesoporous LaMnO3 perovskite catalysts with high surface area were synthesized by using the recently developed hard templating method designated as ＂nanocasting＂.Ordered mesoporous silica designated as SBA-15 was used as the hard *** was found that the surface area of the nanocast perovskites can be tuned（80–190 m2/g）by varying the aging temperature of the SBA-15 *** LaMnO3 catalysts showed high conversion efficiencies for the total oxidation of methanol under steady state conditions,the one with the highest value of surface area being the best catalysts,as *** studies were performed for all of the synthesized *** constants were found to vary in accordance with the specific surface area of the nanocast catalyst which depends on the aging temperature of the parent *** the rate constants obtained from experimental conversions at various space velocities（19500 to 78200 h〈sup〉–1）,values of activation energy and pre-exponential factor for the three nanocast LaMnO3 catalysts were determined by the linear regression of the Arrhenius *** is observed that the activation energy for all the catalysts remain constant irrespective of the variation in specific surface ***,a linear relationship was found to exist between the pre-exponential factor and specific surface areas of the catalysts indicating that the rates per unit surface area remains the same for all the catalysts.

Observed Relationship between Surface Freshwater Flux and Salinity in The North Indian Ocean

Using 10-year (2001 10) monthly evaporation, precipitation, and sea surface salinity (SSS) datasets, the relationship between local freshwater flux and SSS in the north Indian Ocean (NIO) is evaluated quantitatively. The results suggest a highly positive linear correlation between freshwater flux and SSS in the Arabian Sea (correlation coefficient, R=0.74) and the western equatorial Indian Ocean (R=0.73), whereas the linear relationships are relatively weaker in the Bay of Bengal (R=0.50) and the eastern equatorial Indian Ocean (R=0.40). Additionally, the interannual variations of freshwater flux and SSS and their mutual relationship are investigated in four sub- regions for pre-monsoon, monsoon, and post-monsoon seasons separately. The satellite retrievals of SSS from the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) and Aquarius missions can provide continuous and consistent SSS fields for a better understanding of its variability and the differences between the freshwater flux and SSS signals, which are commonly thought to be linearly related.

Analysis of Power in an Argon Filled Pulsed Dielectric Barrier Discharge

In this paper an argon filled coaxial dielectric barrier discharge （DBD） has been studied to understand the detail of power transfer from a unipolar square pulse to plasma during discharge. A dielectric barrier discharge based diffuse pulse discharge and its electrical charac-teristics are investigated. A quartz coaxial DBD tube filled at different pressures is used in the experiment. A unipolar pulse voltage of different peak voltages and frequencies has been applied to the discharge electrodes for the generation of microdischarges. Two current pulses are used for two consecutive discharges per applied voltage pulse. The second discharge, which occurs at the falling flank of the voltage pulse, is induced by the charges stored on the dielectric barrier during the first discharge. It has been deduced that the power supplied to ignite the first discharge is partly stored to ignite the second discharge when the applied voltage decays. This process ul- timately leads to much improved power transfer to the plasma. The knowledge obtained from dynamic processes of the DBDs in the discharge gap explains quantitatively the mechanism of ignition, development and extinction of the DBDs.

Thermal decomposition and kinetics of plastic bonded explosives based on mixture of HMX and TATB with polymer matrices

This work describes thermal decomposition behaviour of plastic bonded explosives(PBXs) based on mixture of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocane(HMX) and 2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-trinitrobenzene(TATB)with Viton A as polymer binder. Thermal decomposition of PBXs was undertaken by applying simultaneous thermal analysis(STA) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) to investigate influence of the HMX amount on thermal behavior and its kinetics. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) indicated that the thermal decomposition of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was occurred in a three-steps. The first step was mainly due to decomposition of HMX. The second step was ascribed due to decomposition of TATB, while the third step was occurred due to decomposition of the polymer matrices. The thermal decomposition % was increased with increasing HMX amount. The kinetics related to thermal decomposition were investigated under non-isothermal for a single heating rate measurement. The variation in the activation energy of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was observed with varying the HMX amount. The kinetics from the results of TGA data at various heating rates under non-isothermal conditions were also calculated by Flynn—Wall—Ozawa(FWO) and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose(KAS)methods. The activation energies calculated by employing FWO method were very close to those obtained by KAS method. The mean activation energy calculated by FWO and KAS methods was also a good agreement with the activation energy obtained from single heating rate measurement in the first step decomposition.
