Annual and seasonal changes of the air temperature with altitude in the Upper Dades valley, High Atlas, Morocco

The purpose of this study is to determine the size of air temperature changes with altitude in the mountains of the arid zone, on the example of the Upper Dades valley(High Atlas, Morocco). The air temperature change with altitude was determined on the basis of 5 years data from three meteorological stations. The analysis was carried out on an annual and seasonal basis. The annual and daily variations of thermal gradients between pairs of stations were also determined. It was found that the average thermal gradient in the Upper Dades valley was-1.02℃ per 100 m. The highest values of the thermal gradient occur in winter and the lowest in summer. In winter,the thermal gradient was characterized by the greatest variability. Minima of the daily variation of air temperature gradients were observed in early morning hours and maxima around midday. In the lower part of the valley, air temperature inversion frequently developed between 10 AM and 3 PM *** obtained results show high thermal gradients in the mountains of the arid zone, with their annual amplitude increasing in the lower parts of the *** instantaneous values of the gradients were significantly modified by the supply of latent heat and the occurrence of dust storms. It has been shown that the advection factor plays an important role in shaping large gradient values. The study contains novel results of thermal gradient measurements in high mountains of arid zone.

Motive-based segmentation of international tourists at Gaurishankar Conservation Area,Nepal

Gaurishankar Conservation Area(GCA)is a recently established natural-based protected area in Nepal,which has witnessed an increase in international *** optimize visitor experience,it is essential to examine motivations to visit along with visitors’characteristics and behavioral *** purpose of this study was to examine international tourists via a motive-based segmentation approach for *** addition,the study also intended to identify visitor segments’profile characteristics such as socio-demographic,travel behaviors,satisfaction,loyalty intention,and their willingness to pay for higher entrance ***(N=121)were collected among international tourists visiting GCA either as a primary destination or as a transit *** identified three distinct segments of visitors–‘local art and culture enthusiast’,‘escapist’,and‘nature adventurer.’Each cluster was different with regards to their sociodemographics,travelbehavior,satisfaction,willingness to revisit and recommend,and willingness to pay to support the environment and cultural resources,and local *** insights gained from motive-based segmentation can be beneficial to GCA to develop specific products and promotions and incorporate visitor monitoring&management programs.

Due to their excellent dielectric properties and the rapid response to microwave irradiation,silicon carbide nanowhiskers(SiCNWs)were employed as microwave susceptor in this study to absorb microwave and locally melt the surrounding polypropylene(PP)substrates for the joining of PP *** welded joint is formed after the melted PP was cooled and *** than microwave susceptor,SiCNWs also acted as the nanofillers in strengthening the welded joint through the formation of SiCNWs reinforced PP nanocomposite at the interface of PP ***,the effect of microwave power on the microwave welding of PP substrates using SiCNWs as susceptor was studied and *** was found that the tensile strength and modulus of elasticity of the welded joint improved as microwave power ***,it deteriorates the flexibility of the welded joint as high stiffness SiCNWs were incorporated deeper into the PP matrix which restricted the PP chain *** from microwave power,clamping pressure is also critical in determining the mechanical properties of a welded *** compared to unclamped welded joint,the tensile strength,modulus of elasticity and flexibility of welded joint subjected to clamping pressure improved ***,the tensile strength of welded joint increased when the clamping pressure was increased from P1 to P3,but decreased when the clamping pressure was further increased to P4 due to the occurrence of flashing at welded *** formation mechanism of SiCNWs reinforced PP welded joint was also proposed in this *** to conventional welding,this welding process is easy,straightforward and is able to produce welded joint with outstanding mechanical properties via precise controlling of the processing ***,microwave welding is thought to offer an option for the joining of thermoplastics and other applications.

Purpose. With the use of steroid premedication, the incidence of severe hypersensitivity reactions (S- HSR) to paclitaxel is estimated to be 2% . For those who develop a S- HSR to paclitaxel, docetaxel has been employed as an alternative agent though the presence of cross-sensitivity has not been established. We sought to define the incidence of S- HSR to docetaxel following a paclitaxel S- HSR in an academic women’s cancer program. Methods. Patients treated with either paclitaxel (P) or docetaxel (D) between 11/1999 and 8/2004 were identified through our pharmacy database. Records were reviewed and data collected on those patients who had a S- HSR, defined as symptoms for which drug was discontinued, to P, D, or both. Results. 718 patients received P and 93 received D. 59 received D following treatment with P. The presence of S- HSR for P was 2.2% (16/718 patients) and for D was 9.7% (9/93 patients). 10 patients with S- HSR to P crossed over to D and all nine patients reacting to D had a prior reaction to P for a cross-sensitivity rate of 90% (9/10 patients). Conclusions. Cross sensitivity of D after P was 90% at our institution. Given the different vehicles used in P and D, it is likely attributed to the taxane moiety. Caution is required with re-challenge of patients with docetaxel if they have previously reacted to paclitaxel.
