raman and infrared(Ir)spectroscopy are powerful analytical techniques,but have intrinsically low detection *** have been three major steps(i)to advance the optical system of the light excitation,collection,and detection since 1920s,(ii)to utilize nanostructure-based surface-enhanced raman scattering(SErS)and surface-enhanced infrared absorption(SEIrA)since 1990s,and(iii)to rationally couple(i)and(ii)for maximizing the total detection sensitivity since *** surveying the history of SErS and SEIrA,we outline the principle of plasmonics and the different mechanisms of SErS and *** describe various interactions of light with nano/microstructures,localized surface plasmon,surface plasmon polariton,and lightning-rod *** coupling effects can significantly increase the surface sensitivity by designing nanoparticle–nanoparticle and nanoparticle–substrate *** the nano/microstructures have specific optical near-field and far-field behaviors,we focus on how to systematically design the macro-optical systems to maximize the excitation efficiency and detection *** enumerate the key optical designs in particular ATr-based operation modes of directional excitation and emission from visible to Ir spectral *** also present some latest advancements on scanning-probe microscopy-based nanoscale ***,prospects and further developments of this field are given with emphasis on emerging techniques and methodologies.

Elevated Liver Enzymes along with Comorbidity Is a High risk Factor for COVID-19 Mortality:A South Indian Study on 1,512 Patients

Background and Aims:Liver enzyme abnormalities in coronavirus 2019(COVID-19)are being addressed in the *** predictive risk of elevated liver enzymes has not been established for COVID-19 *** this study,we hypothesized that elevated liver enzymes at ad-mission can predict the outcome of COVID-19 disease with other known indicators,such as ***:This retrospective study included all the consecutive hos-pitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 disease from March 4th to May 31st,*** study was conducted in rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital,Chennai,Ta-mil Nadu,*** assessed demography,clinical vari-ables,COVID-19 severity,laboratory parameters,and ***:We included 1,512 patients,and median age was 47 years(interquartile range:34-60)with 36.9%being *** enzyme level(aspartate aminotrans-ferase and/or alanine aminotransferase)was elevated in 450/1,512(29.76%)*** was present in 713/1,512(47.16%)*** with liver enzymes’elevation and presence of comorbidity were older,more frequently hospitalized in ICU and had more severe symp-toms of COVID-19 at the time of *** of liver enzymes’elevation with comorbidity was a high risk factor for death(Or:5.314,95%CI:2.278-12.393),as compared to patients with presence of comorbidity(Or:4.096,95%CI:1.833-9.157).Conclusions:Comorbid-ity combined with liver enzymes’elevation at presentation independently increased the risk of death in COVID-19 by at least 5-fold.

Deep learning has reached many successes in Video *** has become a growing important part of our daily digital *** advancement of better resolution content and the large volume offers serious challenges to the goal of receiving,distributing,compressing and revealing highquality video *** this paper we propose a novel Effective and Efficient video compression by the Deep Learning framework based on the flask,which creatively combines the Deep Learning Techniques on Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)and Generative Adversarial Networks(GAN).The video compression method involves the layers are divided into different groups for data processing,using CNN to remove the duplicate frames,repeating the single image instead of the duplicate images by recognizing and detecting minute changes using GAN and recorded with Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM).Instead of the complete image,the small changes generated using GAN are substituted,which helps with frame-level *** wise comparison is performed using K-nearest Neighbours(KNN)over the frame,clustered with K-means and Singular Value Decomposition(SVD)is applied for every frame in the video for all three colour channels[red,Green,Blue]to decrease the dimension of the utility matrix[r,G,B]by extracting its latent *** frames are packed with parameters with the aid of a codec and converted to video format and the results are compared with the original *** experiments on several videos with different sizes,duration,Frames per second(FPS),and quality results demonstrated a significant resampling *** normal,the outcome delivered had around a 10%deviation in quality and over half in size when contrasted,and the original video.

Objective: To evaluate the antibacterial efficacy of five Indian medicinal plants such as Acalypha indica L.(A. indica), Aerva lanata(L.) Juss. ex Schult.(A. lanata), Clerodendrum inerme(L.) Gaertn., Pergularia daemia(Forsk.) Chiov. and Solanum surattense Burm. f. against opportunistic bacterial pathogens isolated from HIV infected patients for the potential phytoconstituents in plant ***: The opportunistic bacterial pathogens such as Escherichia coli(E. coli),Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and Serratia marcescens from Gramnegative group and Staphylococcus aureus from Gram-positive group were isolated from HIV infected patients. The antibacterial efficacy of ethanolic extracts of selected medicinal plants was carried out by disc diffusion method. The potential phytoconstituents of medicinal plant extracts were identified by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry(GC–MS) ***: Among the five medicinal plants tested, A. indica and A. lanata showed the significant antibacterial activity. A. indica showed potential activity against Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli. A. lanata significantly exhibited antibacterial activity against E. coli, Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A total of 19 phytoconstituents were identified in the ethanolic extract of A. indica and A. lanata by GC–MS analysis ***: The results of the present investigation revealed that A. indica and A. lanata, possessed significant antibacterial activity when compared with the other plant extracts tested. The presence of 3-O-methyl-D-glucose by GC–MS analysis in both A. indica and A. lanata extracts has not been reported elsewhere in the literature and the findings in this study could be the first one to report.

A simple and efficient solid iodination method has been proposed for the fabrication of p-type γ-CuI thin *** structural,morphological,optical,electrical and electrochemical properties have been investigated in order to serve as an effective hole-transporting layer in solid-state solar *** fabricated films exhibited p-type conductivity with resistivity of 7.0×10;Ωcm,the hole concentration of ～1.13×10;cm;and the mobility of 18.34 cm;V;s;.The cyclic voltammetry result shows a maximum specific capacitance of 43 mF/cm;at a scan rate of 10 mV/*** cyclic stability and capacitance retention were found to be 99.7%.These findings demonstrate that γ-CuI film can be a potential candidate for multiple applications,such as a hole transporting material for solid-state solar cells and electrochemical supercapacitor.

This paper discusses design and comparison of Simulated Annealing Algorithm and Greedy randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GrASP) to minimize the makespan in scheduling n single operation independent jobs on m unrelated parallel machines. This problem of minimizing the makespan in single machine scheduling problem with uniform parallel machines is NP hard. Hence, heuristic development for such problem is highly inevitable. In this paper, two different Meta-heuristics to minimize the makespan of the assumed problem are designed and they are compared in terms of their solutions. In the first phase, the simulated annealing algorithm is presented and then GrASP (Greedy randomized Adaptive Search procedure) is presented to minimize the makespan in the single machine scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines. It is found that the simulated annealing algorithm performs better than GrASP.

The ability of triadimefon （TDM）, a triazolic fungicide, to alter the biochemical constituents and thereby minimizing the days required for sprouting in white yam （Dioscorea rotundata Poir.） tubers during storage under （30±2） ℃ in the dark, was studied. TDM at 20 mg/L was given to tubers by dipping the tubers in treatment solution containing 20 mg/L TDM on 10, 25 and 40 d after storage （DAS）. Starch, sugars, protein, amino acid contents as well as protease and a-amylase activities were estimated on 15, 30 and 45 DAS from two physiological regions viz., apical and basal regions of the tubers. In normal conditions （control） sprouting occurred on 70 to 80 DAS. The starch content decreased, while protein, amino acid, sugar contents and protease and a-amylase activities were increased due to TDM treatment and led to early sprouting.
