We prove that, as in the finite dimensional case, the space of Bloch functions on the unit ball of a Hilbert space contains, under very mild conditions, any semi-Banach space of analytic functions invariant under automorphisms. The multipliers for such Bloch space are characterized and some of their spectral properties are described.

rocky intertidal organisms are commonly exposed to environmental gradients, promoting adapta-tions to these conditions. Emersion time varies along the intertidal range and in the supralittoralzone is frequently larger than a single tidal cycle, even lasting for weeks. The planktonic-dispersinggastropod Melarhaphe neritoides is a common species of the high shore, adapted to reduce waterloss in order to survive during long-term emersion. In this study, we investigated the molecular re-sponse, at the proteome level, of M. neritoides collected in high-shore tide pools to a series ofemersion periods, from 8 to 24 days, in laboratory conditions. We compared this response to indi-viduals maintained submerged during this period, because this was their original habitat. We alsoincluded a reversion treatment in the study, in which emersed individuals were returned to the sub-merged conditions. Although we detected an increase in overall protein concentration with longeremersion periods, contrary to general expectation, the two dimensional electrophoresis （2DE）-based proteomic analysis did not show significant differences between the treatments at the levelof individual protein spots, even after an emersion period of 24 days. Our results suggest that themetabolism remains unaltered independent of the treatment carried out or the changes are verysubtle and therefore difficult to detect with our experimental design. We conclude that M. neri-toides could be equally adapted to emersion and submersion without drastic physiologicalchanges.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the sequential extraction system for phenolic compounds and pectin from waste ‘Granny Smith’ apple peel using ultrasound. The effects of solvent, formic acid concentration (CFA), and the number of extraction steps on the content of individual and total phenolic compounds (TPC), total flavonoids, and antioxidant capacity, were determined. Then, pectin was obtained from apple peel before (BE) and after (AE) phenolic compounds extraction, using conventional (Tr) or ultrasound-assisted procedures (US). The two-steps 80% Acetone (0% CFA) extraction system had the highest TPC (3.47 g GAE/Kg). Procyanidin B2 (0.03-0.77 g/kg) was the major phenolic compound extracted from ‘Granny Smith’ apple peel. AE pectin extraction yield (6.38% for US and 4.92% for Tr) was higher than BE. Pectin obtained had 57-60% DE, 9.3-10.3% Methoxyl content, and 436-460 equivalent weight. Wasted apple peel is a great low-cost source of phenolic compounds and pectin. Furthermore, it is possible to achieve the highest yields of both compounds through appropriate extraction sequences (AE: phenolic compound extraction followed by pectin extraction) and alternative technologies like ultrasound-assisted extraction.

The swelling behavior of red-bed rocks is a significant factor in the abnormal uplift of subgrades for high-speed railways constructed on the red stratum in the Sichuan Basin,*** prime objective of this paper is to investigate the impact of mineralogical composition,moisture content,and overburden load on the time-dependent unconfined and oedometric swelling behavior of red-bed siltstone in the context of differences in the slake *** samples were prepared for the swelling test,with eleven used for the unconfined swelling and slake index tests and nine for the oedometric swelling *** temporal dependency of swelling is characterized by the viscosity coefficient of water absorption in a proposed swelling *** indicate that the swelling deformation of red-bed rocks is due to a combination of hydration swelling within the rock matrix and crack expansion caused by air *** the unconfined swelling test,the final axial swelling strain of red-bed rocks decreases linearly with increasing slake index,while the viscosity coefficient increases exponentially with the slake *** the oedometric swelling test,red-bed rocks with lower slake durability show greater sensitivity to lateral constraint and overburden load compared to those with higher slake durability.

Mycophagists can influence fungal diversity within their home ranges by ensuring the continued and effective dispersal of spores from one site to another. However, the passage of spores through the digestive tract of vertebrates can affect the activity and viability of the spores ingested. This phenomenon has been rarely documented in opportunistic mycophagists consuming epigeous fungi. Using laboratory experiments, we investigated the activity and viability of spores of two epigeous ectomycorrhizal fungal species （Laccaria trichodermophora and SuiUus tomentosus） after passage through the digestive tract of two opportunistic mycophagous small rodents, the volcano mouse Peromyscus alstoni and the deer mouse P maniculatus. We found that passage through the gut of either species of rodent had a significant effect on spore activity and viability for both fungal species. The proportion of active spores （0.37-0.40） of L. trichodermophora in the feces of both species of rodents was less than that recorded for the control （0.82）. However, the proportion of active spores （0.644）.73） of S. tomentosus in the feces of each species of rodent was higher than in the control （0.40）. On the other hand, the viability of spores was lower （0.26-0.30 in L. trichodermophora and 0.604）.69 in S. tomentosus） for both fungi when consumed by either rodent relative to the controls （0.90 in L. trichodermophora and 0.82 in S. tomentosus）. These findings suggest that these rodent species may be effective dispersers of both epigeous fungi [Current Zoology 57 （3）： 293-299, 2011].

Micronutrient nanoparticles(NPs)are currently an option for chemical fertilization and biostimulation in ***,there is little information on the phytotoxic or biostimulatory effects of NPs at low concentrations of some elements,such as *** this study,the effect of low concentrations of Zn oxide(ZnO)NPs on germination,growth variables,and nutritional attributes of lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.)was evaluated in comparison to Zn *** lettuce seeds were treated with ZnSO_(4)^(-)×7H_(2)O and ZnO NPs at Zn molar concentrations of 1×10^(−3),5×10^(−3),1×10^(−4),5×10^(−4),1×10^(−5),5×10^(−5),1×10^(−6),and 5×10^(−6).The seeds treated with ZnSO4−at 5×10^(−6)registered the highest radicle length,73%more than the control *** seeds treated with ZnSO4−at 5×10^(−3)registered the lowest values,with 50%less than the control *** NPs at 5×10^(−6)significantly increased content of chlorophyll A and B and total *** results indicate the possible existence of a mechanism related to the intrinsic nanoparticle properties,especially at low concentrations.

AIM：To present a method of screening for irregular astigmatism with an autorefractor and its determinants compared to corneal ***：This cross-sectional validity study was conducted in 2013 at an eye hospital in Spain.A tabletop autorefractor（test 1）was used to measure the refractive status of the anterior surface of the cornea at two corneal meridians of each *** corneal topography（test 2）and Bogan’s classification was used to group eyes into those with regular or no astigmatism（GrI）and irregular astigmatism（GrII）.Test 1 provided a single absolute value for the greatest cylinder difference（Vr）.The receiver operating characteristic（rOC）were plotted for the Vr values measured by test 1 for GrI and GrII *** the basis a Vr value of 1.25 D as cut off,sensitivity,specificity were also ***：The study sample was comprised of 260 eyes（135 patients）.The prevalence of irregular astigmatism was 42%[95%confidence interval（CI）：36,48].Based on test 2,there were 151 eyes in GrI and 109 eyes in *** median Vr was 0.75 D（25%quartile,0.5 D）for GrI and1.75 D（25%quartile,1.25 D）for *** area under curve was 0.171 for GrI and 0.83 for *** sensitivity of test I was 78.1%and the specificity was 76.1%.CONCLUSION：A conventional autorefractor can be effective as a first level screening method to detect irregular corneal astigmatism in places where corneal topography facilities are not available.
