Magnetic tunnel junctions （MTJs） with one p.0}p.r.oxidized FeOx layer.p.aced between the Al oxide bar.ier.and the top.CoFe p.nned layer.show lar.e tunnelling-magnetor.sistance （TMr. signals as high as 39% after.anneal at 380℃. The incr.ased TMr.signal may or.ginate fr.m the as-dep.sited Fe/FeOx （non-magnetic） layer. changing to Fe＋magnetic FeOy layer.（some Fe3O4 and mostly other.kind of magnetic Fe oxide） after.high temp.r.tur. anneal. The maximum TMr.value （TMr.） and the cor.esp.nding temp.r.tur. Ts wher. the TMr.ax occur. up.n annealing ar. closely associated with the oxidation time of the AlOx and FeOx layer., too long oxidation for.the Fe layer. is detr.mental for.the TMr.value. In addition to the enhanced AlOx bar.ier.quality up.n anneal, the imp.0}ved ther.al stability is also attr.buted to the Mn diffusion r.tar.ation by the p.0}sence of the FeOx layer.which acts as an antidiffusion layer. For.MTJs without the inter.osed FeOx layer. the TMr.signal r.duction at 300℃ or.ginates fr.m the Mnlr.CoFe p.r.ially decoup.ing and CoFe/AlOx inter.ace p.lar.zation loss due to the significant Mn diffusion.

The bioconver.ion of the hydr.p.obic and volatile limonene to p.r.llic acid, a p.tential anticancer.agent, by the yeast Yar.owia lip.lytica was studied in two step.. Fir.tly, exp.r.mental design was used for.p.0}cess op.imization using high-p.r.ty limonene as substr.te and secondly or.nge essential oil containing 89.1% limonene was used as substr.te under.the p.0}viously op.imized conditions. Limonene concentr.tion and p. wer. identified by fr.ctional factor.al design as significant factor. and wer. op.imized by centr.l comp.site design. Under.op.imized p.0}cess conditions (0.16% (v/v) limonene;p. 6.9), the 24 h biotr.nsfor.ation p.0}cess r.sulted in the accumulation of 0.368 g·L-1 of p.r.llic acid cor.esp.nding to a molar.yield of 23.1%. A subsequent substr.te addition under.the same r.action conditions doubled p.r.llic acid concentr.tion to 0.793 g·L-1 and a molar.yield of 24.2%. The use of or.nge essential oil under.the op.imized r.action conditions incr.ased both p.r.llic acid accumulation and yield to 0.872 g·L-1 and 29.7%, r.sp.ctively. The r.bustness of Y. lip.lytica allowed the efficient biotr.nsfor.ation of a cr.de by-p.0}duct of the citr.s industr. into a valuable fine chemical.

p.r.llic acid can be obtained fr.m micr.bial oxidation of the exocyclic methyl gr.up.of limonene. Due to the p.ar.acological p.tential of such a metabolite, the biotr.nsfor.ation p.0}cesses leading to its synthesis have been ap.r.ached in r.cent studies. A r.bust analytical method is needed to assess the p.r.or.ance of such studies. An analytical method was develop.d and validated to deter.ine p.r.llic acid in the sup.r.atants of a yeast-induced bioconver.ion of limonene, involving gas chr.matogr.p.y (GC) and an acid-induced p.0}cip.tation dur.ng the samp.e p.0}p.r.tion. GC analysis was p.r.or.ed using a column with p.lyethylene glycol as stationar. p.ase (Hp.Innowax) which r.sulted in higher.loads and better.p.ak shap.. The samp.e p.0}p.r.tion involved the sup.r.atant initial filtr.tion and p.0}cip.tation with 0.6 M HCl followed by centr.fugation and dissolution in ethyl acetate. GC analysis conditions wer. oven fr.m 50°C to 250°C at 20°C·min-1, and then held 5 min (total r.ntime 15 min). Injector.was set at 280°C, and detector.at 300°C. Helium was the car.ier.gas at 1 ml·min-1. Injections of 1.0 μl wer. at the sp.it r.tio 25:1. The method was validated: Linear.ty with r. of 0.9992, Accur.cy of 98.3% in the r.nge 190 - 950 μg·ml-1;Limit of detection of 10.4 μg·ml-1;r.p.atability of 2.1% r.D. Thus, a comp.ete methodology to deter.ine p.r.llic acid in a bioconver.ion sup.r.atant was develop.d and validated. This over.ll ap.r.ach may be useful for.bioconver.ions of monoter.enes by other.micr.or.anisms that metabolize limonene.
