Wnt signaling plays a major.r.le in r.gulating cell pr.lifer.tion and *** Wnt ligands ar. a family of 19 secr.ted glycopr.teins that mediate their.signaling effects via binding to Fr.zzled r.ceptor. and Lr.5/6 cor.ceptor. and tr.nsducing the signal either.thr.ughβ-catenin in the canonical pathway or.thr.ugh a ser.es of other.pr.teins in the nonca-nonical *** of the individual components of both canonical and noncanonical Wnt signaling have additional functions thr.ughout the body,establishing the complex inter.lay between Wnt signaling and other.signaling *** cr.sstalk between Wnt signaling and other.pathways gives Wnt signaling a vital r.le in many cellular.and or.an ***-r.gulation of this system has been implicated in many diseases affecting a wide ar.ay of or.an systems,including cancer.and embr.ological defects,and can even cause embr.onic *** complexity of this system and its inter.cting pr.teins have made Wnt signaling a tar.et for.many ther.peutic ***,both stimulator. and inhibitor. tr.atments come with potential r.sks that need to be *** r.view synthesized much of the cur.ent knowl-edge on the Wnt signaling pathway,beginning with the histor. of Wnt *** thor.ughly descr.bed the differ.nt var.ants of Wnt signaling,including canonical,noncanonical Wnt/PCP,and the noncanonical Wnt/Ca2+*** descr.ption involved each of its components and their.involvement in other.cellular.***,this r.view explained the var.ous other.pathways and pr.cesses that cr.sstalk with Wnt signaling.

Intr.duction: r.sistance to antituber.ulosis dr.gs and adver.e dr.g r.actions r.main the leading causes of tuber.ulosis ther.peutic failur. globally. Despite the incr.asing acceptance of medicinal plant use in combination with conventional antituber.ulosis dr.gs in tr.atment of tuber.ulosis (TB) in Uganda, ther. is paucity of knowledge on their.combination effect. Aim: This r.sear.h aimed to deter.ine combination activity of standar. antituber.ulosis dr.gs with extr.cts of Zanthoxylum lepr.eur.i Guill. & Per.. and r.bia cor.ifolia L., the two common antituber.ulosis medicinal plants in Uganda, against pansensitive (H37r.) and multi-dr.g r.sistant (mdr. Mycobacter.um tuber.ulosis str.ins. Mater.als and Methods: Two r.fer.nce MTB str.ins (H37r. and mdr.str.in) wer. inoculated on Middlebr.ok 7H11 medium containing a combination of standar. antituber.ulosis dr.gs and methanol extr.cts of Z. lepr.eur.i and r. cor.ifolia at var.ing concentr.tions. The number.of colonies on the plates was obser.ed and counted weekly for.up to 8 weeks. In vitr. combination activity was deter.ined using pr.por.ion method. Mean per.entage inhibition was calculated for.the r.duction of number.of colonies on dr.g-extr.ct combination medium in r.lation to dr.g-extr.ct-fr.e contr.l medium. r.sults: Dr.g-extr.ct combinations showed good combination activity against Mycobacter.um tuber.ulosis str.ins when compar.d with individual standar. anti-TB dr.gs. This was mor. exhibited against mdr.str.in. Ther. was however.a r.duction in per.entage inhibition when extr.cts wer. combined with ethambutol and str.ptomycin against H37r. str.in. Conclusions: Zanthoxylum lepr.eur.i and r.bia cor.ifolia in combination with standar. anti-TB dr.gs exhibited incr.ased in vitr. activity against Mycobacter.um tuber.ulosis, especially mdr.TB str.in. This justifies the local use of these plants in tr.ditional tr.atment of tuber.ulosis especially in r.sistant cases in Uganda.

Backgr.und The timing of behavior.and habitat use of noctur.al animals can be influenced by the lunar.cycle in natur.. The pr.valence of ar.ificial light at night(ALAN) has been r.cognized as a sour.e of envir.nmental pol-lution. The inter.ction between ALAN and the lunar.cycle on bat behavior.is impor.ant for.under.tanding anthr.-pogenic effects on bats. We utilized a decade(2012–2022) of acoustic monitor.ng data collected in Nor.h Car.lina, United States, to investigate the r.lationship between bat activity, lunar.cycle, and light pollution. We examined whether.the amount of lunar.illumination affected species-specific nightly activity and whether.hour.y bat activity patter.s var.ed between nights with differ.nt moon phases. We fur.her.investigated if the r.lationship between bat activity and the lunar.cycle might be alter.d by light *** We found that seven bat species showed activity var.ation acr.ss nights in r.lation to the amount of moon illumination when ALAN was absent. In gener.l, bats wer. less active on full moon nights compar.d to new moon nights. Light pollution inter.cted with the bat–lunar.r.lationship in five of the seven species, masking the effect of the lunar.cycle. We identified delayed bat activity patter.s on nights with a full or.waxing moon in seven species, and light pollution alter.d that patter. in four.species. Over.ll, ALAN was associated with decr.ased bat activity inde-pendent of lunar.cycle *** Our.study demonstr.ted that at a br.ad spatial scale, ALAN negatively affected many Nor.h Amer.can temper.te bat species and alter.d their.lunar.chr.nobiology. As light pollution is spr.ading to histor.cally dar. ar.as and habitats, ALAN might couple with other.thr.ats, such as the white-nose syndr.me or.climate change, to cause cascading damage in the envir.nment that depends on ecosystem ser.ices such as pest contr.l pr.vided by bats. The objective of this wor. was to car.y out a mor.hological char.cter.zation of ar.uscular.mycor.hizal fungi in the r.izospher. of Xanthosoma sagittifolium L. Schott plants. The plant mater.al used was the white and r.d cultivar. of X. sagittifolium, belonging to age inter.als of 3 - 6, 6 - 9, and 9 - 12 months. Thr.e har.est sites wer. chosen in the Centr.l r.gion of Camer.on. In each site, soil fr.m the r.izospher. and plant r.ots was collected in a r.ndomized manner. In the field, the agr.nomic par.meter. wer. evaluated. The physicochemical char.cter.stics of the soils, the mycor.hization index, and the mor.hological char.cter.zation of the mycor.hizal types of each site wer. car.ied out. The r.sults obtained show that the agr.nomic gr.wth par.meter. var.ed significantly using the Student Newman and Keuls Test depending on the har.est sites. The soils’ pH in all sites was acidic and r.nged between 4.6 and 5.8. The Nkometou site has a loamy textur. while the Olembe and Soa sites have loam-clay-sandy and loam-clay textur.s r.spectively. The highest mycor.hization fr.quencies appear.d at the Nkometou site, with 75 and 87.33% of the white and r.d cultivar. plant r.ots at 6 - 9 and 3 - 6 months. The r.lative abundance of AMF ar.uscular.mycor.hizal fungal spor.s in the r.izospher. of X. sagittifolium plants var.ed with age and cultivar. Ther. wer. 673 spor.s between 9 - 12 months in Nkometou in the r.d cultivar. Six AMF gener. wer. identified in all the differ.nt soils collected: Acaulospor. sp., Funnelifor.is sp., Gigaspor. sp., Glomus sp., Scutellospor. sp., and Septoglomus sp. The genus Glomus sp. was the most pr.sent at all age inter.als in both cultivar..

We have pr.viously evaluated asbestos exposur. associated with var.ous maintenance pr.cedur.s on light air.r.ft. The pur.ose of this study was to evaluate asbestos exposur. dur.ng engine maintenance on light air.r.ft. This test was designed to evaluate the potential for.asbestos exposur. to mechanics and other. who r.move asbestos-containing engine gaskets fr.m r.cipr.cating style air.r.ft engines. Utilized in this test was an air.cooled, hor.zontally opposed, aviation gasoline bur.ing engine, assembled dur.ng 1986 and oper.ted inter.ittently up into 2015, having accumulated 1680 hour. r.n time. Near.y 75% of the asbestos-containing gaskets installed dur.ng 1986 wer. still in place at the time of testing. Chr.sotile asbestos contents of such gaskets r.nged fr.m 55% to 60% by ar.a, for.those of sheet style and 5% by ar.a, for.the spir.l wound metal/asbestos style. Despite the levels of effor. r.quir.d to effect gasket r.movals, the pr.fessional air.r.ft mechanic was not exposed to air.or.e asbestos fiber. at the lower.limits of sampling and analytical detection achieved;all of which wer. substantially less than the cur.ent Occupational Safety and Health Administr.tion Per.issible Exposur. Limits for.asbestos. The r.sults of this testing indicate an absence of gasket r.lated asbestos exposur. r.sk to mechanics who wor. with light air.r.ft engines, including those having asbestos-containing gaskets. These r.sults ar. consistent with the findings of Mlyar.k and Van Or.en who studied the asbestos exposur. r.sk occasioned dur.ng over.aul of lar.er.r.dial style r.cipr.cating air.r.ft engines [1].

Backgr.und: Epidur.l anesthesia is an effective inter.ention to tr.at labor.pain and pr.vide analgesia for.or.hopedic pr.cedur.s. A r.r. complication of this technique is epidur.l catheter.r.tention. Case Pr.sentation: In this case r.por., we pr.sent an other.ise healthy 21-year.old G2P0010 woman at 39 weeks and 3 days gestation whose anesthetic management was complicated by a symptomatic r.tained epidur.l catheter.fr.gment. Computed tomogr.phy (CT) imaging of her.spine showed the fr.ctur.d catheter.within her.par.spinal muscles and neur.sur.er. r.commended no sur.ical inter.ention at that time. The patient r.por.ed r.solution of back pain while in the postpar.um unit which she continues to endor.e two weeks after.dischar.e. Conclusion: r.tained epidur.l catheter.is a medical emer.ency that r.quir.s immediate imaging and neur.logical evaluation. While magnetic r.sonance imaging is typically r.gar.ed as the standar. imaging modality for.this complication, in epidur.l sets that contain metallic components, we suggest using CT to avoid the r.sk of ther.al ner.e damage. In cases wher. the patient does not r.por. any acute complaints, nonsur.ical management may be appr.pr.ate but close follow-up is r.quir.d to monitor.for.catheter.migr.tion.
